Japanese forces continue landings in Khota Baru. The landings at San Marcelino were intercepted several times by PT boats, but someone forgot to load the torpedoes so the results were dismal. Allied air is remarkably inneffective except that one B17 accidentally hit AK Yakusawa Maru.
The following bases are reported taken by the Japanese swarms: San Marcelino, Lamon Bay, Aparri and Vigan.

Japanese forces land in Kuching. The new minefield does take a toll on them. Also Force Z exits Singapore and intercepts the enemy, (after they landed a passel of troops unfortunately) and a bunch of APs are sunk. Repulse eats a torpedo from a long range Betty.
Alor Star falls after having been evacuated the night before. Enemy forces are expelled from Clark

The Big E and Lady Lex come out to the rescue of the Wake defenders
A Japanese Battleship task force was intercepted by dive bombers from Enterprise and Lexington. The battleships were in the process of attacking a transport task force with reinforcements for the harried defenders of Wake.
The armor of the big ships deflected much of the force of the attack, but significant damage was done to the big ships

The heroic defenders at Wake have been reinforced. The Japanese can of course take wake whenever it suits them, but they shall have to commit more forces to do so. Forces that will be unavailable elsewhere.
On the other hand the situiation in the DEIs is an unmitigated disaster. The rapid deployment of KB to the PI and DEI instead of attcking the US fleet has rendered all pre war plans obsolete. Two powerful carrier battle-groups are converging on Java

With the DEIs in full panic mode, the only naval strategy, if you can call it that, is to damage/sink as many troop transports as possible, in an effort to slow down the yellow tsunami. By not attacking Pearl and sinking a bunch of useless battlewagons, Halsey has enabled a blitzkrieg in the DEI. Only in Malaya are the allies (apparently mounting an organized defense. In Luzon, the allies are holding at Bataan, Clark and Manila

With two carrier battlegroups, Halsey san is wreaking havoc in the Java and Banda seas. His Western group pounded Soerabaja port, giving the weary, battered Repulse another going-over. I thought torps would not work on ships in harbor.....
On the Eastern side of the Banda sea, a second carrier group appears to be exiting between Amboina and NG.

On second thought, the allied strategy has worked brilliantly. After having expended all their bombs and torpedoes the enemy carriers anow have to return to base........In Darwin, Women and Children are being evacuated. In Sidney some scared souls have tried to swim to Tasmania....Great Whites are congregating for their noon feeding.....

I thought I would at least get POW out of the DEI in fighting condition. Is there a sortie limit for the KB I wonder?

Sure, but in WITP, it can refuel and rearm at the same joint where we buy gas and a hotdog. This needs to be adressed with a feature much the same as that which limits Torpedo and Mine reloading. Be nice if it took more than a few simulated minutes to refuel and rearm fleets too! Without a house rule I'm afraid the game mechanics allow combat TFs ahistorically distorted abilites.

As this map shows, KB did not really have ports to refuel in the South China Sea/Banda Sea area.
Fortunately, they are leaving the area.

Boxing Day 1941 A quieter day, with the allies trying to save whatever can be saved in the PI. Japanese advances in the PI seem consolidated, but we hold cLARK, Bataan and Manila, where all enemy probes have been repulsed strongly.
The enemy cariers finally leave the Java sea, and appear to head towards Truk. It looks like the next target will be the Solomons.
