AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 05/09/42

Usual bombings in China, 3 SB-2 destroyed at Chungking.

Sally's and Oscars bombing encircled chinese units in north China, two fresh divisions with support of tank regiment are awarded with mission to destroy them and they are moving to them.

I've decided not to attack Tarawa atoll - Andy moved bombers to Apamama and i'm afraid to attack that AF - didn't reconed Apamama last turn. Instead my LBAs are on naval attack with support of 2 Zero daitai - i've changed their attitude - LBA are on 11 K feet. Lets see if thats will make difference.

I have hunch that at least one american CV is near Gilberts, but i can't it locate, despite my Mavis and Glens in the area.

Yamato will be finished in 10 days and after that i will have 185 navalshipyard points more.

be carefull
you will lost pretty much time in destroying encircled division - you know it is bugged and it doesn't work as you think - you can loose sth like a month of your time

Do not worry Sneer:) As you may see Broome is still enemy base and Aussies will withdraw to that base after i engage him. If not, i have smaller combat units for 1st Aus division - once when unit will encircled and with no supply, while my divisions will move towards Wyndham.

Also, i want to thank all you guys for following my pidgin-english AAR. We passed 5000 hits!

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 05/11/42

CHINA

Andy ambushed me at Chungking! Didn't expect such a move from him - Chungking AF was closed last turn, same as today but his fighters were able to fly from base?

28 ac lost, but fortunatly they are all army bombers and i can train them again. Overall air losses arent so bad (15-30) - i't could be even worse... Can't be sure what he will do , but i ordered retaliation strike escorted with two Zeros.

Nine enemy planes destroyed on the ground.

Two divs and tk rtg came in hex NW of Chungking where 4 enemy LCUs are encircled. Will wait for another div and then start to eliminate them. My bombers attacking them from turn to turn.

PACIFIC

Tarawa is now AF size 2. After the rest i set my LBAs on naval attack escorted with 2 Zero Daitais. One Zero Daitai is on sweep mission.

Three light SC TFs will try to engage enemy transports at Tarawa. Unfortunatly Andy saw I coming but i've decide to try - Mavis and LBA on naval search didn't report any presence of enemy capital ships, same as Glens... well, we shall see...

Phew, i'm always behind one step - Tarawa AF became lvl 3 AF this turn. I canceled planned AF attack on the Apamama and ordered attack on Tarawa. I didn't want to attack Apamama and found AF empty in case that Andy transfer bombers to Tarawa. App 100 Navy LBA with escort of 80 Zeros will attack Tarawa. I expect bloody encounter at Tarawa skies...

AUSTRALIA

1st Australian Division is defeated and retreats towards Broome. I'm considering amphibious invasion of Broome to capture that base before Aussies can retreat to Broome. I know that it will take much longer to destroy enemy div encircled in the open field, but if Andy set division to prepare for Broome it could me cost even more - i would assign more troops and my casaulties would be bigger, i think.

On the other hand, if i encircle enemy div outside the Broome, I could assign just small units and keep attacking Aussies untill they are destroyed. That solution seems better especially when i saw that Andy reinforcing crossroads in the desert (Perth - Derby). I have to clear this railroad ASAP to avoid encirclement in the Perth. OK, i know, my 5 divisions at Perth area can't be destroyed but i want to feel comfortable.

Ground combat at 24,86

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 43094 troops, 384 guns, 129 vehicles

Allied ground losses:

CHINA

First attack on encircled Chinese units - it will take forever to destroy them, but that's 4 enemy corps less.

Defending force 30300 troops, 144 guns, 0 vehicles

Now it's time for big reorganisation in the Gilberts - Apamama become lvl 4 and i withdrew most acs from Maloelap. My plan is to bring several groups to the full strength with damaged ac left on Maloelap and train the others. I'll gonna need them in the future.

SHIPS REPORTED SUNK THIS TURN: AK, TK and DD Phelps,

CHINA

Andy get lucky in the China - 23 Sallys didn't find the target and most of Zeros were escorting them. Only 3 Zeros remain with main group and i lost quite a lot Army bombers. If only that strike was well coordinated i would have 3-1 or even 4-1 in air losses instead of 2-1...

36 x Ki-21 Sally bombing at 6000 feet

1st Australian division is also doomed. Enemy subs reported at Broome. ASW combat formed and sent to Broome.

It seems that Andy decided to defend desert crossroad - ok, i will have three divisions, one bde and two tk rtgs there soon. Tk rtg and one more division will advance to crossroad from Derby, while three divisions in Perth are strategic reserve (i'm waiting for recuperation of those units).

Wyndham will have to wait but that's doesn't means i will let Andy to hapily build forts there. Slow BB TF will bombard Wyndham tonight, while Army bombers will attack form Derby.

After capturing Broome Andy will lost another Aus division and that's will hurt him in the future. Ok, i'm sure he will rebuild 3rd, 1st Aus division and one bde he lost (cadres) but it would take some time and he must reinforce Australia with American or NZ troops - thats will leave me open hands in Pacific.

Kaga and Akagi arrived at Koepang - i'm reinforcing ac groups to the full strength keeping their experience. Other CVs from KB will arrive at Koepang tomorrow and already have mission for them. They will provide air cover for fast BB TF and (turn latter) for slow bombardment TFs on their run to Darwin - lot's of planes there and i hope i would be able to decimate his air force there.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 05/17/42

CHINA

I'm bombing Kweiyang at the moment - don't want to send bombers in certain death - Andy keeps lots of fighters at Chengtu.

PACIFIC

All is quiet but i will visit Tarawa tomorrow with light SC TF - no significant enemy navy in Gilberts, at least my patrol plane crews reported to me. I hope to caught enemy transports at Tarawa - Andy did not spot me, i think. Let's hope i wont hit my own mines at Tarawa and Mitchells will stay grounded - tunderstorms in the area.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 05/18/42

PACIFIC

I was right - Andy didn't noticed my surface TF(s) near Mili last turn. They were ordered to pick SNLF unit from Makin but i grab the opportunity.

Everything went smoothly - Andy send three DDs to Tarawa and Selfrige hits the mine. These ships couldn't resist to my superior force but they managed to inflict damage on two japanese destroyers (sys damage 20 and 25).

Night Time Surface Combat, near Tarawa at 85,91

Japanese Ships
CL Sendai, Shell hits 2
CL Natori
DD Oshio

Allied Ships
DD O'Brien, Shell hits 13, Torpedo hits 1, and is sunk
DD Blue, Shell hits 4, Torpedo hits 2, and is sunk
DD Selfridge, Shell hits 4, Torpedo hits 1, and is sunk

I've checked their ratings and all ships gained experience - those which didn't hit anything are up with one exp point while others gains 2 or 3 exp points. Nice.

Few more transports are out of action - forever.

I have one more light SC TF at Mili and decided to try luck in the next turn. If this ended well too then i should stop - no need to push luck further. Andy will probably react.

Didn't order sweep over Tarawa or naval attack because Andy can transfer fighters to Apamama. Let's hope that he have only twin bombers on Tarawa (my recon isn't the best part in this game).

Allied ground losses:

Defeated Allied Units Retreating - towards Broome

38th division going to Derby and will be send in Singapore. Fresh division coming to Derby next week.

Andy moved some fighters to Wyndham but i wont react - i have more important job to do right now.
KB is at full strengh - experienced pilots replaced losses and heading towards Lautem, together with slow BB TF. Fast BBs are one day from Lautem and Darwin bombardment should start in next two days.

CHINA

Nothing to report - Andy still keeps American and British fighters at Chengtu and i dont dare to attack Chungking AF anymore. That means he left Burma empty. Lots of bombers reported in Ledo and i guess they are on supply mission to China. Anyway, i have to try and will attack Ledo from Mandalay in next few days. Who knows, maybe i would be lucky there...

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 05/19/42

PACIFIC

Raiding SC TF deals with all 5 transports left after the first visit to Tarawa. It is time to stop with naval raids on Tarawa - Andy already planning counter measures, I'm sure.

Now is big question what to do at Marshalls and Gilberts. I can send another big raid on Tarawa AF - Andy have lots of fighters and bombers there (B-17s are also there - they attacked my sub) before he visit Maloelap. I can have 100 Zeros on escort and with 100 bombers should inflict some damage. I think my samurai's can still whip out enemy from the sky and even with moderate success (30-40 damaged ac on the ground) i can be pleased - bombers will lost their morale and it would delay air offensive on Marshalls and give me enough time to bring KB in Pacific.

I can defend Maloelap with strong CAP and ambush his heavies, but don't sure if even 100 Zeros can stop enemy hammer. But i can bring additional Daitais so 150 Zeros could stop him...

I'm also considering raid with Baby KB in Pacific - to hit his supply routes between Baker islands and Palmyra. But i will do it only if i would be sure that no enemy carriers are in that area. Two subs with Glens already sails to sea route Baker-Palmyra.

Yamato is ready and i will form TF with Fuso + several DDs. They will go to Truk.

Lot's of things to do these days - Fubuki class is on schedule for upgrade (they are escorting my CVs. After the strike on Darwin CVs will sails to Truk while Fubuki's will continue to Home islands for upgrade. In the meantime, Mutsuki and Kamikazes will provide ASW and AAA escort for my KB. I will use DDs which were involved in encounters at Gilberts.

AUSTRALAIA

Batavia CD unit surrenders, but i wonder if this unit will "resurrect" in the future...

Ground combat at 23,85

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 24132 troops, 249 guns, 6 vehicles

Defending force 0 troops, 0 guns, 0 vehicles

Japanese assault odds: 473 to 1

Allied ground losses:
188 casualties reported
Guns lost 2

Broome captured, and now the 1st Aus Division is surrounded. I will bomb that unit from air and let's hope that two SNLFs and two tk rtgs will be enough to destroy it. I have more important job for my divisions.

My units will arrive in desert crossroad soon and than we shall see what Andy got there.

CHINA

SNLF unit at Yunan repulsed the enemy again! Mix rtg and tk rtg are still more than week away from Yunan and i need such heroic fight from my paras-

Ground combat at Yunan

Allied Shock attack

Attacking force 6126 troops, 6 guns, 0 vehicles

Defending force 2798 troops, 19 guns, 0 vehicles

Allied assault odds: 0 to 1 (fort level 0)

Japanese ground losses:
50 casualties reported

Allied ground losses:
385 casualties reported

Other than that it was quiet in China - too quiet...

you will not destroy this Aus div
no chance - it needs 4-5 divisions and 2 weeks time in current combat model

You are right, but I dont have time for that. Anyway, Andy sending subs to evacuate cadres of Aus division but i will make him pay it dearly for that - Army bombers already sinks SS Snapper, while SS Tambor is hit.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 05/20/42

BURMA

That theatre was quiet last few months. Andy send his airforce on raid against Mandalay...

Day Air attack on Mandalay , at 33,30

Allied aircraft
P-40B Tomahawk x 8
B-17E Fortress x 31
LB-30 Liberator x 30
IL-4c x 18

IL-4c: 2 damaged

Japanese ground losses:
12 casualties reported

Resources hits 8
Airbase hits 1
Airbase supply hits 1
Runway hits 1

All bombing at 6000 feet

This is what is happens when enemy troops are surrounded at open hex - it will take some time before i eliminate his 4 corps there.

Ground combat at 51,27

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 71116 troops, 843 guns, 142 vehicles

Defending force 28853 troops, 91 guns, 0 vehicles

Japanese assault odds: 9 to 1

Japanese ground losses:
508 casualties reported
Guns lost 26
Vehicles lost 1

Allied ground losses:
313 casualties reported
Guns lost 6

Andy moving this units in South China theatre! - several Chinese LCUs are now in hex east on crossroad and more are coming. I sent 3 divisions from Kwelin to prevent encirclement of my troops at the crossroad. Does it mean that Andy planning offensive there?

Forts are building at fast rate in Wuchow (lvl 6) and Kwelin (lvl 7). I'm not sure what to do there - withdraw my troops to these bases or leave them at the crossroads...

WAR INDUSTRY SCREEN

As you may see from the picture i'm little bit short with supply but overall situation is good. I'm sending supply conwoys to Truk cause i'm here have less than 10 K supply (i had to send supply to the Marshalls)

HI points are now at 96 K and i'm not loosing stock of HI anymore. Jack is on heavy research, and i hope i would be lucky as PzB with r & d. I need these fighters to defend my bases against Andys molesters (ups, monsters)... together with Tony and Tojo.

Quite a lot ships needs upgrade and repair - i'm sending them to Japan.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 05/21/42

AUSTRALIA

Excellent strike on Darwin with fast BBs. Andy noticed my BBs last turn but didn't react and moved ac from Darwin - either he don't care for ac losses either he thought i'm going to visit Wyndham (my TFs moved towards Wyndham and than changed course - towards Darwin!). I've decided to move slow BBs on 4 hex from Darwin last turn together with air cover from new carriers - and it was good decision. Now they are in range to hit Darwin in next turn and i hope for another harvest!

Naval bombardment of Darwin, at 36,84

Allied aircraft
no flights

Allied aircraft losses
SBD Dauntless: 2 destroyed
Beaufort V-IX: 7 destroyed
P-39D Airacobra: 7 destroyed
P-400 Airacobra: 5 destroyed
Catalina I: 2 destroyed
Hurricane II: 7 destroyed
PB2Y Coronado: 1 destroyed
TBD Devastator: 1 destroyed
Brewster 339D: 1 destroyed

Japanese Ships
BB Kirishima
BB Haruna
BB Kongo

Allied ground losses:
2306 casualties reported
Guns lost 68
Vehicles lost 15

Airbase hits 12
Runway hits 57

My ASW TFs did not find anything, and decide to make Andy's subs hard life in north Australian waters - don't want that Andy "resurrect" encircled Aus division near Brome. Akagi and Kaga finished their job (protecting fast BBs) and they are heading towards Broome with bombers on 100% ASW duty.

But, even if Andy managed to evacuate cadres it would take some time that Aus division becomes ready for combat again. I'm confident that i would be able to sink at least another two subs...

I'm preparing hell in North Australia for Andy tomorrow. Apart from naval bombardment of the Darwin, i'm sending my Samurais on sweep mission to Wyndham - Andy have some Wildcats and Hurricanes there...

Ground combat at 12,94

Japanese Bombardment attack

Attacking force 21585 troops, 211 guns, 1 vehicles

Defending force 43516 troops, 281 guns, 262 vehicles

Ok, now i know the enemy strengh at Perth-Adelaide-Derby crossroad. Andy have 6th Aust division, 2 bdes, 1 calvary div and tk rtg. I will wait one more turn when 56th div arrives and attack him with 3 divisions, 1 bde and 2 tk regiments. I'm interested how this will works - it is open hex and i have advantage in experience....

CHINA

Andy switched target and attacked SNLF at Yunan. I will try attack Ledo tomorrow with 2 Sally and one Betty daitai - lets hope i would be able to caught some ac on the ground..

Day Air attack on Yokosuka 1st SNLF, at 38,32

Allied aircraft
P-40B Tomahawk x 19
LB-30 Liberator x 24
IL-4c x 9

Ground combat at 51,27

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 74307 troops, 833 guns, 141 vehicles

Defending force 28556 troops, 81 guns, 0 vehicles

Japanese assault odds: 3 to 1

Japanese ground losses:
535 casualties reported
Guns lost 24
Vehicles lost 1

Allied ground losses:
486 casualties reported

PACIFIC

Unfortunatly my planes didn't attack Tarawa AF - bad weather prevents them from offensive missions. I've changed orders and set LBA on naval attack with escort of three daitais. Some tankers reported at Apamama and i'm considering them as high value targets.

Yeah, thats right folks, infamous Pauk course finally start working...or should i call it pauk's law? (It says: if there is any possibility that your's AF could be closed due bad weather it will happens while opponenent AF(s) in same theatre will remain open"

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 05/22/42

BURMA

Well, my cunning plan to catch some planes on the ground at Ledo worked perfectly - but for Andy!. Weather was overcast and my AF was closed while Ledo remains operational. And that's was outcome:

Day Air attack on Mandalay , at 33,30

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 6

Allied aircraft
B-17E Fortress x 18
LB-30 Liberator x 21
IL-4c x 17

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 3 destroyed
Ki-21 Sally: 7 destroyed
G4M1 Betty: 3 destroyed
Ki-46-II Dinah: 3 destroyed

Allied aircraft losses
B-17E Fortress: 5 damaged
LB-30 Liberator: 4 damaged
IL-4c: 2 destroyed, 3 damaged

Japanese ground losses:
40 casualties reported
Guns lost 4

Airbase hits 5
Airbase supply hits 2
Runway hits 21

All bombing on 6 000 ft

6 Zeros, few Bettys and 14 Sallys destroyed on the ground. I moved in one semi-trained Zero daitai (exp 66) and will try to bounce enemy bombers if they come in visit again - i want to save as many pilots as i can because they are skilled. I'm aware that i can lost even more with that move (AF is on 31 damage) but i wasn't able to withdraw all groups to Rangoon wia railroad??.

Anyway, app 40 Zeros will defend Mandalay tomorrow - Andy don't have too many bombers at Ledo but i fears of his escort - more than 70 fighters are reported.

PACIFIC

It wasnt my day at Pacific too. Enemy sub found my AK west of Kwajelein and sunk her.

Sub attack at 74,78

Japanese Ships
AK Norway Maru, Shell hits 5, Torpedo hits 3, on fire, heavy damage

Allied Ships
SS Trout

Then B-17s come in visit. The funny thing is i was thinking to withdraw LBA and put strong CAP, but i've decided in favour of "just one more offensive mission":).

Day Air attack on Maloelap , at 82,81

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 13

Allied aircraft
B-17E Fortress x 28

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 2 destroyed, 3 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
B-17E Fortress: 4 destroyed, 18 damaged

Runway hits 1

Aircraft Attacking:
B-17E Fortress bombing at 15000 feet

Second wave come on lower attitude and few planes are destroyed on the ground.

Day Air attack on Maloelap , at 82,81

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 8

Allied aircraft
B-17E Fortress x 35

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 2 damaged
H6K2-L Mavis: 1 destroyed
G3M Nell: 1 destroyed

Allied aircraft losses
B-17E Fortress: 1 destroyed, 13 damaged

Japanese ground losses:
5 casualties reported

Airbase hits 4
Airbase supply hits 1
Runway hits 11

B-17E Fortress bombing at 6000 feet

But i can not complain here - his 17s paid a modest price. I had only few land based Zeros on CAP but Samurais from Ruyjo helped them.

Day Air attack on TF, near Tarawa at 85,91

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 3
G3M Nell x 16

Allied aircraft
F4F-4 Wildcat x 19
P-26A x 5
P-36A Mohawk x 15
P-39D Airacobra x 13
P-40B Tomahawk x 20
P-40E Warhawk x 12

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 3 destroyed
G3M Nell: 9 destroyed

Allied aircraft losses
F4F-4 Wildcat: 4 damaged
P-36A Mohawk: 5 damaged
P-39D Airacobra: 1 destroyed, 2 damaged
P-40B Tomahawk: 2 damaged
P-40E Warhawk: 1 damaged

Allied Ships
TK Mexicos H Whittier
AK Demodocus

I'm sure that i had app 40 Zeros on escort orders but this time i got unescorted strikes...

Day Air attack on TF, near Tarawa at 85,91

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 13
G4M1 Betty x 6

Allied aircraft
F4F-4 Wildcat x 19
P-26A x 5
P-36A Mohawk x 15
P-39D Airacobra x 12
P-40B Tomahawk x 20
P-40E Warhawk x 12

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 6 destroyed, 1 damaged
G4M1 Betty: 6 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
F4F-4 Wildcat: 4 destroyed
P-26A: 2 destroyed
P-36A Mohawk: 2 destroyed, 2 damaged
P-39D Airacobra: 3 destroyed
P-40B Tomahawk: 1 destroyed, 1 damaged
P-40E Warhawk: 2 destroyed, 2 damaged

Allied Ships
AK Sagadahoc, Torpedo hits 1
AK Californian, Torpedo hits 1, heavy damage

And i have to pay a price for it..

I'm think I'm done with air strikes at Gilberts area. I know that Andy was hoped for that but i can not affort myself to lost naval LBAs at that rate (19 LBAs lost today). I moved them at Kwajelain and put them on ASW duty until i regroup them. From now i will wait for Andy to come.

AUSTRALIA

Andy withdrew his decimated groups via railroad and i wasn't able to destroy more enemy planes on the ground. Anyway, enemy ground losses are welcomed too.

Naval bombardment of Darwin, at 36,84

Allied aircraft
no flights

Allied aircraft losses
TBD Devastator: 1 destroyed

Japanese Ships
CA Suzuya
CA Nachi
BB Hyuga
BB Mutsu
BB Nagato

Allied ground losses:
3136 casualties reported
Guns lost 21
Vehicles lost 5

Airbase hits 17
Airbase supply hits 4
Runway hits 90
Port hits 1
Port supply hits 2

It seems that Andy wouldn't go in battle for air superiority in the northern Australia anymore (you will see little later why:) and it's time for changing part of my strategy here - i'm sending construction units to Lauterm to build AF to level 4. Once when AF become lvl 3 i can send my Army bombers on Darwin to score some more VP for strategic bombing. I will keep fast BBs in the area to keep threat...

Some of BBs will go to Singapore because i need to secure Malaya from the seaborne invasion. Air raid on Mandalay could mean that Andy want to attack Burma from the India...

At the end of the day, Samurais in Australia take care that i still have the edge in the air....

Day Air attack on TF at 33,82

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 43

Allied aircraft
T.IVa x 5
Beaufort V-IX x 13

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 1 destroyed, 4 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
T.IVa: 5 destroyed
Beaufort V-IX: 9 destroyed

Japanese Ships
BB Mutsu
BB Nagato

Aircraft Attacking:
1 x Beaufort V-IX bombing at 6000 feet
2 x Beaufort V-IX bombing at 6000 feet
1 x Beaufort V-IX bombing at 6000 feet

4th, 5th, 12th and 25th RAAF squadron are almost completely eliminated!

Day Air attack on Wyndham , at 30,86

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 58
Ki-46-II Dinah x 1

Allied aircraft
F4F-4 Wildcat x 7
Hawk 75A x 1
Brewster 339D x 4
Hurricane II x 48

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 9 destroyed, 2 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
F4F-4 Wildcat: 4 destroyed
Hawk 75A: 1 destroyed
Brewster 339D: 3 destroyed
Hurricane II: 39 destroyed

Overall loses for today are in my favour and that is little consolation for me: Andy lost 96planes to my 76. A2A was 88-32 and that is important.

40 Hurricanes - all in A2A combat
30 Zeros - 21 in A2A combat, 6 destroyed on the ground, 3 ops.
17 Sallys - most of them on the ground
12 Nells - that hurts
11 B-17Es - very nice!
8 Wildcats
7 Bettys...

Andy withdrew some troops and deliberate attack ordered for tomorrow at desert crossroad...

Ground combat at 12,94

Japanese Bombardment attack

Attacking force 21584 troops, 213 guns, 2 vehicles

Defending force 24277 troops, 146 guns, 132 vehicles

Allied ground losses:
11 casualties reported

I noticed one more strange thing - Andy moved subs towards Broome (to evacuate cadres of Aus division trapped there) but this turn subs are returning to Wyndham. I'm quite sure they did not pick troops but i don't want to allow them safly returning - KB is alerted and put on ASW duty.

I don't know if this is possible but Andy have 40 aux planes in Wyndham - patrol planes. Do they can evacuate cadres of trapped unit? I don't know but put some LR CAP over division...

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 05/23/42

BURMA

Andy send again his heavies against Mandalay in smaller numbers but with escort. Anyway, he can not be pleased with results - 6 planes destroyed on the ground and one or two Zero in the A2A. My Samurais inflicted serious losses to him and Toko Daitai fought braverly - got one exp point overall (67).

Day Air attack on Mandalay , at 33,30

A6M2 Zero x 31

Allied aircraft

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 1 destroyed, 2 damaged
G4M1 Betty: 1 destroyed
Ki-21 Sally: 2 destroyed

Allied aircraft losses
P-40B Tomahawk: 5 destroyed, 2 damaged
B-17E Fortress: 7 damaged
LB-30 Liberator: 2 destroyed, 3 damaged

Aircraft Attacking:
6 x LB-30 Liberator bombing at 6000 feet

3 x IL-4c bombing at 6000 feet

Don't think that Andy will send bombers against Mandalay again and i will evacuate my precious air crew from the base soon.

PACIFIC

I've enjoyed this turn - Andy sends B-17 against Maloelap again. 16 B-17 didn't return home, so far Andy lost 118 fortress (3 months of production). I know that he already calculated air losses and he wants to keep me form attacking his TKs at Tarawa, but B-17 are high on my priority too.

Day Air attack on Maloelap , at 82,81

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 41

Allied aircraft
B-17E Fortress x 7

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 1 destroyed, 6 damaged

I lost 4 Zeros in A2A today, total A2A losses for today were 22-5 in my favour (25-16 total losses)

CHINA

Again miserable performance of my troops against surrounded enemy. I'm bombing enemy from the air, attacking him with my LCU and there is no way to bring supply to surrounded units but their assault value remains quite a high. Oh well, at least i can train my ground units...

Ground combat at 51,27

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 73017 troops, 798 guns, 142 vehicles

Defending force 27733 troops, 57 guns, 0 vehicles

AUSTRALIA

Dauntless attacked and hit my sub south of Perth! That means American CVs are in the area!. Hmmm... what to do here...?

I'm quite dissapointed with KB ASW - although lots of groups were on ASW duty no sub is hit.

Andy withdrew all but one unit (4 men from Dutch BF!) from the crossroad in the desert. It's all about delaying me in advancing towards south Australia via railroad me thinks... I will keep some pressure and pursue his units (65th bde and 56th div, one tk rtg) and hopefully Andy will think that i'm serious about attack on south Australia. I don't want to see all remaining Aus divisions at Darwin!

I will have six divisions for attack on Wyndham and Darwin, my strategic reserve are two divisions (18th near Perth and 56th div)... I could add 38th division too, but i need to protect Malaya (currently have only one bde there)...

STRATEGIC OVERVIEW

Hm, what he is planning in Australia? CVs near Perth could mean invasion or just raid against Perth... i have there one bde and naval garnison and decided to stop 18th division (few hexes away from the Perth) while Imperials still marching towards Wyndham.

It is probably a nuissance raid against Perth and his primary goal is to strech me in Australia + forcing me to send KB there. I don't want to do it right now, let's se what will happen there.

I need to keep Perth for some more time (until i capture Wyndham and Darwin), and i think that one div, mix bde and naval garnison can defend against invasion (in which i don't believe).

The key is capturing Wyndham and Darwin and i simply have to do it! Otherwise i didn't nothing in Australia:

- once when north Australia would be captured i will be able to defend SRA in the north Australia
- i wont need fighter cover there anymore and i will desperatly need Zeros in the other theatres.
- my navy will be free to use in Pacific, for defence of Malaya and what is most important at this moment for r&r.
- i will use Lautem and Koepang as base for ground bombers when Andy try counter-offensive there, together with light naval forces (bombarding)

BURMA

I own Burma and don't plan to go for Ledo. Currently digging in the Mandalay but i didn't decide yet if that base will be my first line of defence or not. If I would have enough time to dig in the Tavoy, Moulmein and south Malaya i would defend at Mandalay, but not before i feels confindent in mentioned areas.

I'm currently building forts at Tavoy and Moulmein since they are just calling to be places for sea borne invasion from India (and Rangoon must be evacuated in that case).

If i would have enough time (after securing Tavoy and Moulmein) i will build forts at Pagan and leave that bases empty - if Andy comes via continent i will move my units in and would be able to delay his advance. In that scenario, my backyard at the Burma will guard IJN and LBA with Zeros at the Bankok (currently expanding AF to level 6) and Khota Baru.

I have two divs there (55th and 33th) with two tk rtgs and several smaller IJN LCUs. 1st Tk Div arriving in three months and will be assigned to the defence of Burma/Malaya.

MALAYA

Malaya and Burma need to be treated as one theatre. I'm currently expanding forts at Singapore, Georgetown and JB - but i dont have many eng units here (they are mostly in Burma and Australia). All bases on the burmanese and Malaya coast are heavily mined and i will continue with laying mines.

I need to fortify all bases in Malaya to the maximum level and keep fighting for them - the enemy wont have any malaria free base in the area and i'm hope i will would won this battle of atrittion. For now i don't have enough troops to defend all bases so my frist priority is to fortify Georgetown (lvl 3 at the moment), Alor star, Malacca, Kuala Lumpur and Johore.

I will leave Victoria quite undefended, but if Andy try with sea borne invasion at this base it will be the end of British navy and Army!

CENTRAL PACIFIC

Offensive is no more possible towards Gilberts. I will fortify Marshalls and defend them until i prepare Marcus and Marians for defence. If i conquer northern Australia soon i can send KB (one or two carriers will go to Singapore) - actually i will do it very soon, before Wyndham falls, BBs and plenty of fighters to Pacific. Then i would be able to starve his force at Tarawa and Apamama with combined strikes. Just imagine sweep with 200 Zeros from Maloelap over Tarawa. But i wont start battle of atrittion with limited force...

NORTH PACIFIC

Nothing happend there so far but i need to fortify my bases at northern Japan, Sahalin etc... north route could be nasty for Japanese player. I will try to capture Attu's with small forces and will have to do it without CV support. But i can use AV as scout...

FUTURE OFFENSIVES

- one bde, eng unit (at Lunga) and several naval garnisons preparing for PM - i need that base as a threat to eastern Australia and that's will probably be my last offensive in the war...

Ok, Andy starts to bomb Perth but if he think that i will send KB there he is wrong. I can live with training of his bombers for now. Four Dauntless are lost (one to flak, 3 ops).

Allied aircraft
F4F-4 Wildcat x 6

38th division loading on transports at Derby and will go to Soerbaya to recuperate. I'm organisng the siege of Wyndham. Don't know what Andy plans here but i will advance carefully - no less than 2 divs will enter in base hex. In a week i will have 2th, 4th, 16th and 48 division and two tank rtgs at Wyndham. Depending on enemy strengh there i could take flank attack to scare Andy to be surrounded.

Fast BBs will bombard Wyndham tonight, while slow BBs refueling and will be send on Darwin...

I had the whole KB on ASW duty, together with high exp Army bombers at Derby but with no success...

Several ASW TFs are formed and send to the sea route but i really can't score any hit with surface ships in this game...

PACIFIC

He checking my CAP strengh over the Maloelap.

FLEET STATUS

CARRIERS & AIR GROUPS

As you may see, all fighter groups are filled with crack pilots...same is with bomber groups.

All my CVs are in green numbers but i need back them in perfect shape. I will send Sho i Zui to Japan together with Fubukis because they are scheduled to upgrade soon. June is apporaching and don't think that Andy will risk his carriers before he upgrade them too with Avengers - especially when my CVs dissapears!

My forces gathering hex east of Wyndham. I'm interested what i would find there. I wouldn't be suprised that Andy plans defence at Darwin or even evacuating the whole north Australia, but i have to prepare myself like he would defend on the beaches... (blah,blah)...

Akagi and Kaga are on route to Palau. Unfortunatly they were sighted by enemy patrol planes.

Enemy CVs still lurking in Perth area. I can't imagine why he doing it...unless he really want to invade Perth - ok, you are welcomed!

Ground combat at 13,94

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 2257 troops, 0 guns, 144 vehicles

Defending force 0 troops, 0 guns, 0 vehicles

Defeated Allied Units Retreating!

This crazyness continues. I defeat 4th Dutch BF twice before and got this CR. This unit are not visible on the map but it prevents me from advancing on the railroad?!?!

CHINA

It was quiet there last week, but Andy moved fighters (Allied ones) to Chungking... I don't want to fight for China sky right now and I'm withdrawing my bombers from frontier bases. I will have to wait for Tonys and Tojos....

PACIFIC

Ah... one of my subs found enemy transport fleet north of Canton island... Well i was late again but hope that B KB will ambush transports on their back home. I know it is little risky, but as i said i don't think that Andy would risk his carriers now he have stronghold on Gilberts. Anyway, i will be extremly catious and 3 glen-equipped subs are in front of B KB.

Aircraft Attacking:

4 x Ki-49 Helen bombing at 2000 feet

CHINA

Usual stuff. Andy keeps fighters in Chungking, while my Zeros are in Burma. I'm sure he will start bombing campaign here but i'm not going to battle of attrition in the China skies.

My bombers attacking his units which were sent behing my defending force at crossroad and then and after that they withdrew to the fields NE of Kwelin... What he doing there, collecting rice for his soldiers?

Again i beated his surrounded units in north China (9-1) odds but i lost 900 men to his 300...bah!

PACIFIC

Quite peaceful there. Andy bringing supply and fuel to Gilberts while i'm waiting for good weather. I will send big sweep over Tarawa just to annoy Andy and keep him in alert.

Not much action last few days, but lots of stuff behind the scene.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 05/29/42

Enemy air presence in China getting stronger day by day. Aircobra squadron attacked Paras at Yunan. I'm changing targets for my bombers every day, don't want to be ambushed with
fighters from Chungking. More bombers reported in Ledo - they are probably going to
China - keep hands down my brave soldiers!

Pursue in desert (towards Adelaide) continues - his invisible dutch force and tk
btn are forced to retreat...

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 05/30/42

Another attack on surrounded units - odds 11-1 (Jap lost 937 men, Chinese 633).

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 05/31/42

Sweep mission on Ledo - 14 enemy planes shot down while i lost 5 Zero. Two more
Zero lost on LRCAP mission over Yunan - and this time Andy didnt attack me there
with Aircobra squadron. My total losses for today were 11 planes (ops losses were
high again).

Helens attacked Port Moresby and destroyed Wildcat. More fighters reported at PM so
my bomber crew will drink sake tomorrow.

3 Hudsons from PM attacked and heavily damaged ML Nasami near Gili gili, not sure if
she will make it to Rabaul.

More than 100 Zeros will wisit Tarawa tomorrow!

Darwin will be bombed with slow BBs. My units enter at Wyndham hex and bombardment will show real strengh of base defence. If Andy reinforce Wyndham and leave Darwin without proper defence i will order amphibious invasion on Darwin... I'm little short with eng at Wyndham at the moment.

My training program going well. I will form three reserve army figthers daitais with more pilots than needed by disbanding one group into reserve daitai. In this way I will have pool on map and latter i will be able to reinforce decimated daitais fast...

I'm also start to moving some Zeros to Burma and if Andy becomes aggresive in the China i will send them there.

Great work general
Don't think the invasion of Northern Oz can be carried out any better than this!
With Perth occupied India is cut of....

Now you have to be careful and avoid overextension. If you can recapture the Gilberts and capture PM
no more territorial expansion would be necessary! From my experiences you should now focus on the destruction
of enemy fleet units. Can you prepare a trap?

Suggest you place Glen equipped subs south of Perth and on any other approaches to your territory.

Thanks, Defender of the Empire, but i'm not sure i deserve such compliments - i'm only humble servant of the Emperor.

As you may see, Andy evacuated Wyndham and i'm start to think that he will evaucate Darwin too. Not many choices he have (Yoda voice):

- he can defend in the open field at the Darwin Townswille junction and that's not a best option for him:
a) his units wont be hidden behind the forts
b) i have 9 crack divisions.... i think he can not resist to that force (soon i will have air support from Wyndham...God, you have to love blitzkrieg doctrine)

b) he can dig in Darwin - this could be dangerous but after i spank him in Malaya with combined sea and air bombardment and easily overrun him at Johore Baru i don't think he will try it again. Besides that, he don't have sufficient force to defend Darwin (rest of his Aussie troops are in south Australia - he must defend British queen teritory in the south Australia.).

Dont worry i'm taking medicine against 'victory disease' every day. I know that happy days are over for Japan (unless the offensive is supported with overhelming force) - so i will be extremely careful.

PM will fall, i'm quite sure. He can not support defence of this base because he is faced with threat from Independent State of Aborigians (read: north Australia).

I'm not sure about re-take of the Gilberts - it will take some time until i organise invasion: divisions from Australia, KB, etc... i'm not sure that i would be ready before August for that and not sure if this is too late. What do you think?

DESTRUCTION OF HIS FLEET: you are right, and thats was my intention, but i was late with liberating of PI and Perth....now i'm not sure that i can advance any further but hopefully i can interupt his supply routes in Pacific and inflict serious damage to his fleet (if he become too hasty).

Glens will be my frontier guards, you can bet it. But it will take some time to bring them in position - you know that Jap players are faced with logistical nightmare in the middle of the 1942 (upgrades, fuel shipments, training programs...)

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/04/42

PACIFIC

Not much to report - Andy unloaded reinforcements to Tarawa (or supply), while my baby KB sails east of the Marshalls in hope to find and catch his supply conwoys... Klokan-go is about the end and i'm thinking what to do with few divisions which i will have after capturing Darwin. Frontal attack on Gilberts or flanking attack (on Baker island and Nanomea atoll)?

Nothing has been decided yet, it is very exausting to plan such operations month after month... i will think about that when i capture Darwin (but one thing is sure - PM is next target)

AUSTRALIA

As i predicted, Andy fleeing from Darwin too...bah, i was hoping for some real fight in northern Australia. But his decision is logical - he lost two australian divisions (one at Perth and one more is trapped near Broome, plus one Bde) and he couldn't stop me in the north Australia. I checked allied reinforcement screen, and with current rate it would take a long time till cadres from lost Aussie divs becomes fully operational divisions. And that is really good news. Other than that i havent been able to inflict significant damage to his ground units. I guess that Dutch support units are badly hurt but don't know nothing about replacement rate for the Dutch...

Day Air attack on 1st Australian Division, at 22,85

Japanese aircraft
G4M1 Betty x 21

Bah, Andy probably equipped this BF with kengoroos...

NORTH PACIFIC

I'm taking north islands to establish first line defence there. Several units will reinforce these islands...

Ground combat at Kiska Island

Attacking force 751 troops, 9 guns, 0 vehicles

Defending force 0 troops, 0 guns, 0 vehicles

Japanese assault odds: 3 to 1 (fort level 0)

Japanese forces CAPTURE Kiska Island base !!!

STRATEGIC MAP:

I never looked at strategic map until now - i wanted to post my Empire frontiers. What i saw it's totally suprised me in negative way! I Find amusing and totally unacceptable that i can see Andy's units in Australia (i didn't reconed so i shouldn't know where are they!!!!!)

Why is that

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/05/42

Sometimes i wonder how i can be so stupid - bombardment run against Darwin disabled few guns but one of my CAs got two hits from the coasta guns and now she is at 17 sys damage. Not a best move from me...especially when you know that i have so many ships in ports to be repaired (some of them needs r&r after being at sea for months, some of them just recived upgrades)

Naval bombardment of Darwin, at 36,84 - Coastal Guns Fire Back!

8 Coastal gun shots fired in defense.
Japanese Ships
CA Suzuya, Shell hits 2
CA Nachi, Shell hits 2
BB Hyuga
BB Mutsu
BB Nagato

Allied ground losses:
177 casualties reported
Guns lost 4

Airbase hits 2
Runway hits 17
Port hits 12
Port supply hits 2

Only 12 Sallys flew from Lautem AF (size 3) and didn't damaged any resources at Darwin. Have to wait few turns till i bring AV support and HQ to Wyndham. Other than that it was silent on Australian theatre. Now i start to think what to do with "Australian" divisions. If i want to defend Perth-Derby-Darwin line i have to keep at least 5 divisions there. That's leaves me just few divisions left to other operations. I will probably concentrate on holding Derby-Darwin line - i think 4 divisions would be more than enough for that (i have AFs in that area, Andy dont!:).... i would try to keep Perth as long as i can (i need HI in Perth!) but I will not allow to be involved in great battle for Perth! (Andy can come via sea and via railroad and that would be trap for my units in the Perth)....

Ground combat at 22,85

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 6329 troops, 30 guns, 124 vehicles

Defending force 8106 troops, 42 guns, 1 vehicles

Japanese assault odds: 8 to 1

Japanese ground losses:
51 casualties reported
Guns lost 1

Allied ground losses:
397 casualties reported - GOOD!
Guns lost 14
Vehicles lost 1

I have to admit that i'm very suprised with attack on the isolated Australian division near Broome (one tk rtg + 2 Marine units)....

CHINA

I'm decimating surrounded Chinese too... Now my divisions are at 85 exp!:))

Ground combat at 51,27

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 68580 troops, 666 guns, 141 vehicles

Defending force 21175 troops, 25 guns, 0 vehicles

Japanese assault odds: 25 to 1

Japanese ground losses:
606 casualties reported
Guns lost 8

Allied ground losses:
1184 casualties reported
Guns lost 4 - YEAH BABY!

PACIFIC

PM is the next target and i'm spending lots of time for thinking what to do next. Should i attack Gilberts? Somehow i just dont like this idea and i hooked with another cunning plan
- invasion on Nanomea atoll and later on Baker islands. The main problem is that my fast BBs needs repair (they are all between 9-11, except Hei (4), same as DDs... CVs are in the better shape (from 3-8) but if i want them to upgrade i can't keep them any longer at the sea.
Sho and Zui are on route to Japan (4 days). Akagi and Kaga (3 sys and 6) are docked in Truk (i have 4 ARs there), Hiryu and Soryu are near Tarakan (I'm not sure but they will probably go to Pacific)....

So I need to strike on places which probably aren't guarded heavily but they have strategic value - and Nanomea atoll (AF 2 now) and Baker (AF 1) are such targets (isolating Gilberts). And maybe I could force Andy in decisive battle

Still pretty quiet on all fronts. I'm redeploying ships after upgrades - older classes and those with shorter range going to Shangai and Hong Kong, while Fubuki class all other class (suitable for CV escort will upgrade and repair in the Home islands). Unfortunatly, fast BBs are in same situation - they are above 10 sys damage and needs repair to. I reserved Hiroshima/Kure for BBs (Yamashiro is in Shangai), Maizaru and Okayama will take care for DDs and CAs, Osaka (Sho is disbanded this turn) and Tokyo for CVs.

Singapore and Truk have 4ARs while Osaka and Hiroshima have 3 ARs each. I'm building more ARs and plan is to have following ports with 4 ARs each: Singapore, Truk, Osaka, Hiroshima, Maizaru. One MLE is on duty already - at Kwajelain and one more is building at the moment. It should be enough for now...

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/07/42 AND 06/08/ 1942

NORTH PACIFIC

I control Kiska and Attu - my forces are weak there: 67th naval guard and 8th Yokosuka SNLF with base force. I can not assign more force to this particular area now.

CENTRAL PACIFIC

Wake is under my control - have 205 AP there (Sasebo 7th SNLF and 51st Naval garnison, one base force one construction unit) and fort level 8 (building to maximum). I plan to reinforce this base soon, somehow i have hunch that Andy could attack Wake next. And this is a good place for trap!

Two const units relased from Kwantung and going to Marcus to build AF to level 4 - Marcus is 11 hex from Wake - which means my Naval LBA can be escorted with Zeros! I have to relase 10th Air Fleet from HI defence because i'm short with Air HQs - lots of bases needs them...

SOUTHEAST PACIFIC

Ordered massive sweep over Tarawa bu only one Daitai fly to Tarawa. I can consider myself lucky there - lost 8 Zeros while enemy lost twice as many ac i lost... transfered fatigued Daitai and leave others on sweep mission. Let's hope tomorrow they all will fly...

Day Air attack on Tarawa , at 85,91

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 21
H6K4 Mavis x 1

Allied aircraft
F4F-4 Wildcat x 19
P-36A Mohawk x 6
P-39D Airacobra x 15
P-40B Tomahawk x 13
P-40E Warhawk x 12

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 8 destroyed
H6K4 Mavis: 1 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
F4F-4 Wildcat: 7 destroyed
P-36A Mohawk: 1 destroyed, 1 damaged
P-39D Airacobra: 5 destroyed
P-40B Tomahawk: 4 destroyed, 1 damaged
P-40E Warhawk: 2 destroyed, 1 damaged

As you already know, i dislike frontal assault on Gilberts - Andy will dig on those two atolls and he could use new bombs carried on B-17s from August. I'm more and more convinced that is better to attack on Nanomea and Baker island and isolate Gilberts. After this goal is achived, i can use my BBs (currently on repair), bomb Gilberts and destroy his air force there. Even if i don't re-capture Gilberts i will delay attack on Marshalls. Why i couldn't use overhelming force and re-take Gilberts first? Well, i think that my cunning plan could caught Andy off guard, that's why...(and Imperial HQ calculates that my losses would be lighter in that case.)

AUSTRALIA

Aussies are stubborn guys, did you know that?...

Ground combat at 22,85

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 6156 troops, 25 guns, 124 vehicles

Defending force 7269 troops, 10 guns, 0 vehicles

Japanese assault odds: 18 to 1

Japanese ground losses:
84 casualties reported
Guns lost 1

Allied ground losses:
148 casualties reported
Guns lost 1

Second day attack...

Ground combat at 22,85

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 6097 troops, 24 guns, 125 vehicles

Defending force 6950 troops, 7 guns, 0 vehicles

Japanese assault odds: 34 to 1

Japanese ground losses:
75 casualties reported
Guns lost 5

Allied ground losses:

Another 20 VP points in the bag...

Day Air attack on Darwin , at 36,84

Japanese aircraft
Ki-21 Sally x 26

No Japanese losses

Resources hits 5

Aircraft Attacking:
Sallys bombing at 10000 feet

Currently i have 9 divisions in Australia and two brigades. I will guard newly born Independent state of Aborigians (of course, Emperor already says that they will be 100% independent state:) with 25th Army: 16th, 18th, 48th and 56th division, 21 mix bde and 65th bde, 2 tank regiments. I will dig and concentrate my defence on Darwin-Derby axis, while Perth will be defended with enough force to inflict significant losses if Andy chooses amphibious invasion. While Perth is needed to keep India cut off American imperialists and their HI is vital for me at the moment i can not allow to be cut from northern Australia if he start offensive via railroad...

4th division planing for Port Moresby (after will go to SE Pacific), 5th and 21th Div are near Darwin and already have plans for Nanomea...

Imperial guard division will go to Burma, while 38th div will be in Java as strategic reserve.

CHINA

recon reported 200 enemy fighters at Chungking, but last few days no more than 40 were on CAP... hm, does Andy plans something here. I'm gathering Zeros for China air campaign but also have to wait till my Air HQ arrives to Wuhan (i sent it to Chengking earlier - phew... other Air Div is lost due infamous diss. bug at Canton)

My paras traveling all along the China from Kunming - they are now near Chungking moving towards Sian! (Join to IJA you will see the great part of the world - from deserts in inner China and Australia to tropical seas of Indian and Pacific ocean:)

Day Air attack on 2nd Parachute Regiment, at 43,30

Allied aircraft
Hurricane II x 38
P-39D Airacobra x 15
I-153c x 6
SB-2c x 3

No Allied losses

Japanese ground losses:
58 casualties reported
Guns lost 1

I will stop posting CR untill Chinese and isolate Aus division near Broome are anihilated...

Ground combat at 51,27

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 71129 troops, 669 guns, 143 vehicles

Defending force 19117 troops, 12 guns, 0 vehicles

Japanese assault odds: 20 to 1

Japanese ground losses:
789 casualties reported
Guns lost 14
Vehicles lost 1

Allied ground losses:
263 casualties reported

ASW EFFORT

Andy send his subs for evacuating cadres in the Cebu islands. I figured that little late but i was able to transfer high exp bombers and get some success in last two days:

Ki-21 Sally attacking Drum at 44,61
Drum is reported HIT

Ki-21 Sally attacking Pollack at 44,59
Pollack is reported HIT

Ki-21 Sally attacking Plunger at 44,59
Plunger is reported HIT

Ki-49 Helen attacking Trout at 44,59
Trout is reported HIT

Damaged subs will be out of the reach tomorrow, i guess but I have Hiryu and Soryu in that area and their groups are on ASW duty.

AC RESEARCH

Jack is near 200 rd, Tony just enter 100 rd... but i will try another approach. From Mr. Frag's post (although he isn't sure 100% about it) it seems that is ONLY one thing matter regarding r&d - having 100 r&d points. If you have 100 or more than dice rolls starts to rolling (and i assume that isn't matter if you have 101 or 401 r&d points for one ac type - you will get only one roll)... so i'm planing to expand other ac's factories on r&d to 100. Let's see if r&d works in this way...

NAVAL BUILDING PROGRAM

I have 1474 naval shipyard points! Tahio, Hiyo (36 days from entering into service) and 3 Unryu's are accelerated. Mutsu is on normal building rate. I never managed to collest shipyards stockpile but all CVs are building at acc rate. Once when Hiyo enters the service i would probably accelerate DDs - Japan never have surpluse of this ships! In next 200 days i will get 4 Akizukis and 3 DDs with radar so it is important to accelerate these fine ships...

What do you experts think?

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/09/42

CHINA

Not so eventful turn in this particular theatre, but things are warming up there! Andy expanding Homan AF and now is lvl 4. I stop all training attack on nearby LCUs and waiting for his move. I have 100 Zeros in China ready to kick out white imperialist mercenaries...

Day Air attack on Yenen , at 50,26

Ki-15 Babs x 4

No Japanese losses

Allied ground losses:
67 casualties reported

Airbase supply hits 1
Runway hits 53

TARAWA

My samurais decide it's time for little action and they all fly this time. I suffer significant losses but i've got 5-1 in A2A combat. Andy wants battle of attrition, but i'm still able to replace losses with skilled pilots (app 80) - lots of training camps are opened in SRA!

Day Air attack on Tarawa , at 85,91

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 102

Allied aircraft
F4F-4 Wildcat x 15
P-36A Mohawk x 5

Just to be mentioned, i'm using Rabaul as training camp too: Bettys attacking Rabaul defence units in the jungle...

Day Air attack on TF, near Lae at 54,87

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 9

Allied aircraft
F4F-4 Wildcat x 2
Hudson I x 3

No Japanese losses

Allied aircraft losses
F4F-4 Wildcat: 1 destroyed

Japanese Ships
AP Ryoyu Maru #21

Aircraft Attacking:
3 x Hudson I bombing at 15000 feet

Lots of ships reported at Nanomea atoll and i have another cunning plan. I formed new carrier division (Akagi and Kaga) at Truk while Ryujo will join them latter (B KB is in Marshalls area) - they will try to catch enemy transprts at the Nanomea...

It could be risky but i count on suprise - Hiryu and Soryu are near Davao (SS Drum gets another hit) and hopefully Andy would think that the whole KB is there. I will make sure that his recon found Baby KB too....

A risky thing with your CVs but very cunning. A lot to lose, little to gain but the morale implications are huge. Those small operations rock!

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/10/42

I'm going to lose one more sub - I-174 is hit from air (B-17E)... but Andy's "minesweeper" raised my morale.

TF 1133 encounters mine field at Baker Island (94,92)

Allied Ships
TK William F Humphrey, Mine hits 1, on fire

And that's it for 10th June...

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/11/42

Hiryu and Soryu bombers didn't score any hits on enemy sub transports this time... Andy submerged TF going to pass strait between Amboina and Sorong, i think???... i will have three ASW naval TFs in that area but not much is expected - i don't think that i sunk more than 5 subs with DC (my naval ASW just don't work in this game).

Few subs reported at Iloilo (one of the names you have to love!) but 4 DDs in ASW TF didn't find them...

Day Air attack on Homan - just keeping China theatre alive and waiting for my Zero-hammer..

Japanese aircraft
Ki-21 Sally x 46
Ki-46-II Dinah x 1

No Japanese losses

Allied ground losses:
6 casualties reported

Airbase hits 2
Airbase supply hits 4
Runway hits 32

Day Air attack on Port Moresby - AF is already abandoned (just few Hudsons left there) and i'm starting to attack his ground units at PM.

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 6
Ki-21 Sally x 26
Ki-49 Helen x 50
Ki-46-II Dinah x 4

Japanese aircraft losses
Ki-49 Helen: 1 destroyed, 1 damaged

Airbase hits 2
Airbase supply hits 5
Runway hits 35

Day Air attack on Darwin , at 36,84

Japanese aircraft
Ki-21 Sally x 98

Japanese aircraft losses
Ki-21 Sally: 1 damaged

Resources hits 36

Barely more than 100 resources left in Darwin - strategic bombing is too efficient in the game!

Ground combat at 51,27

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 79736 troops, 781 guns, 140 vehicles

Defending force 17836 troops, 7 guns, 0 vehicles

Japanese assault odds: 41 to 1

Japanese ground losses:
366 casualties reported
Guns lost 7

Allied ground losses:
7452 casualties reported
Guns lost 14

And finally! 30th Chinese corps surrenders while other three corps still resist (hopefully not for to much longer).

AC losses... outstanding victory for Japanese - Allied Air Force is formidable opponent in the middle of 1942.. But i have to be honest from now i must limit my air strikes. Although training program is going good (i can replace all lost pilots with 75-80 exp replacements) i don't have third echelon pilots with decent experience.

Don't have any illusions about air combat and I know that Andy wouldn't wait for 1945 to use his monsters (actually i'm suprised he didn't start bombing campaign yet).

I attached my chase for Bismarck (ups...., for enemy subs). Not that i think they are so valuable but that's part of my "Kamikaze-go" - bold raid with CVs on Nanomea atoll. OK, Honda, i'm considering to create SC TF from carrier escort (that was an option from the begining) and sending them instead CVs.

Hopefully Andy would think that most of my carriers chasing his subs (oh, they are moving in mysterious ways indeed - towards north Australia?!) while Baby KB is sighted near Mili, just as i planed.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/15/42

SRA AND AUSTRALIA

My ASW TF found SS Trout near Bulla and sinks her with two depth charges. Transported men are lost forever. Andy transporting cadres to the East Australia me thinks and i hope i would be able to sink few more subs with ASW TFs. Hiryu and Soryu heading to Truk.

Two enemy subs which pick units at Iloilo probably have similar route - now they are near Cayagan but despite 100 crack pilots on ASW duty (bombers are based at Cayagan) they are only spoted. But i'm confident i would be able to sink them both (SS O20 is damaged with 2 depth charges, while Sculpin was hit with 250 kg bomb earlier in the game - and i have two ASW TFs chasing them.

PACIFIC

Catalinas found my CVs east of Nanomea atoll. Spend lot of time to decide what to do - continue to Nanomea where are juicy target spoted (10 transports) and count on that Andy wouldn't expect such bold raid deeply in his area (Catalina reported 2 ships) or withdraw. I decide to withdraw them NW of the current position (in Truk direction) but close enough for his Catalinas to spot me again. I've detach CL and 5 DDs from CV TF which will raid Nanomea in turn or two. But I don't expecting much - transports will ecape, that is very likely.

Seven Tomahawks are destroyed on the ground. Nice and unexpectable bonus.

Spitfires arrived on Tarawa to help Wildcats, Tomahawks and Warhawks on CAP duty! It's time to dig in Maloelap and put strong CAP over the base.

Andy building Luganville. Hm... fast hit and run invasion on that base?....
