Thanks! Actually that's what i want to hear. I'm one of the persons who always ask for advices but then again i'm pretty stubborn creature too, and never listen advices.

Seriously, i'm glad that we have similar thoughts about Gilberts, imperial HQ wont fire me as a coward.

I will attack with my fleet and try to interdict his supply route (Baker-Palmyra) - the main targets are enemy ships. Baker invasion will be started only if i'm sure that enemy carriers aren't in area/or not willing to engage KB...

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 07/09/42

CHINA

13 Helens on night attack mission finally found one Spitfire on the ground at Sian.

80 Army bombers attacked Homan - one B-24 Liberator destroyed on the ground (Andy withdrew them this turn). But 9 supply hits and 19 damage AF will require supply for repairs - and Homan is cut off from supply.

Last turn i didn't noticed that Chinese LCU should commit shock attack when arrive in Lanchow - they must cross river - but nothing happend

Anyway, Andy found that i can use air transports too and part of Chinese division is forced to retreat (to Kungchang). Hm, i'm start to think i would be able to hold Lanchow.

Ground combat at Lanchow

Japanese Shock attack

Attacking force 6565 troops, 119 guns, 0 vehicles

Defending force 1530 troops, 11 guns, 0 vehicles

Japanese assault odds: 8 to 1

Japanese ground losses:
88 casualties reported
Guns lost 2

Allied ground losses:
50 casualties reported
Guns lost 3

Defeated Allied Units Retreating!

Ordered tk rtg on railroad to attack Chinese - if they moving SE (to blocade my forces) i hope it will reset their movement. It is extremely important that i control this hex (preventing supply and cut retreat path from Homan)... it is interesting, that's for sure...

PACIFIC

Unfortunatly, my Bettys failed to find target at Tarawa and Andy is alerted. I moved one more daitai for escort and hope i will be lucky tomorrow...

British CV and enemy SC TF dissapears (south of Lunga) but i'm continue with intercept of enemy naval force. I probably wont be able to engage enemy but i have to try.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 07/10/42

PACIFIC

Enemy CV(s) found NE of Noumea - on route to Gilberts, avoiding my LBA from Lunga. I will continue moving my CVs in Nanomea direction (where enemy transports are reported), but i will not risk carriers if Andy spot them (i could detach surface ships and send them on raid).

TF 1004 encounters mine field at Nanomea Atoll (87,101) - it is always nice to see that APs performing minesweep mission....

Allied Ships
AP Ormiston, Mine hits 1, on fire, heavy damage

Day Air attack on TF, near Tarawa at 85,91

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 73
G3M Nell x 25
G4M1 Betty x 18

Allied aircraft
F4F-4 Wildcat x 14
Spitfire Vb x 7
P-36A Mohawk x 7
P-39D Airacobra x 14
P-40B Tomahawk x 9
P-40E Warhawk x 15

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 20 destroyed, 2 damaged
G3M Nell: 1 destroyed, 2 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
F4F-4 Wildcat: 13 destroyed
Spitfire Vb: 4 destroyed
P-36A Mohawk: 4 destroyed
P-39D Airacobra: 10 destroyed
P-40B Tomahawk: 6 destroyed
P-40E Warhawk: 9 destroyed

Allied Ships
AP Wharton, Torpedo hits 4, on fire, heavy damage - SINKS
AP St. Mihel, Torpedo hits 3, on fire, heavy damage
APD Little, Torpedo hits 2, on fire, heavy damage - SINKS
APD Manley, Torpedo hits 2, on fire, heavy damage - SINKS
APD Colhoun, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage
AP U.S. Grant

i didn't expect such heavy losses: 23 Zero are lost (20 A2A, 3 ops), but enemy lost more than twice ac (46). I can be pleased with only one Nell lost on this mission and theirs performance (Enemy is short with APs, right?).

I really needs to stop this attacks because i'm runing short with reserve pilots (in training groups) - only one training Zero daitai have 75 exp. Fortunatly, three more weeks and i will have Tojos and Tonys to replace my naval fighters (i'm going to need long range latter in the game).

Enemy concentration means that his offensive will be there...so i'm going to fortify Marshalls and wait for him there. I will transfer couple of Army bombers there (for the defense against his heavies) - right now i have one replacement group with 55 pilots in Truk. Another sentai will be transfered shortly (exp 89!)...

AUSTRALIA

Ground combat at 36,93 - securing the Darwin...

Japanese Shock attack

Attacking force 48536 troops, 515 guns, 157 vehicles

Defending force 27479 troops, 114 guns, 16 vehicles

Japanese assault odds: 5 to 1

Japanese ground losses:
1444 casualties reported
Guns lost 55
Vehicles lost 4

Allied ground losses:
478 casualties reported
Guns lost 20
Vehicles lost 5

Defeated Allied Units Retreating!

CHINA

I was so pleasently suprised. My tank regiment defeat enemy. Enemy troops must be out of supply. I'm now so close to completely cut off Chinese in Homan. Let's see what will Andy decide: send troops from Sian and try to clear rairoad or evacuating Homan...

Ground combat at 48,30

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 2178 troops, 0 guns, 143 vehicles

Defending force 7143 troops, 15 guns, 73 vehicles

Japanese assault odds: 3 to 1

Japanese ground losses:
13 casualties reported
Vehicles lost 1

Allied ground losses:
178 casualties reported

Japanese Bombardment attack

Attacking force 22629 troops, 251 guns, 17 vehicles

Defending force 96183 troops, 410 guns, 0 vehicles

Ok, Chinese are still at Homan. I order my tk regiment to move across the river (hex NW of Homan) cause other units are moving to slow. One division should arrive on the railroad next turn....

Andy told me in e-mail that he expect lot's of from Spitfires (he moved them to Tarawa and China). Well it is reasonable why he expect so much from them - it is British aircraft.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 07/12/42

PACIFIC

TF 1042 encounters mine field at Palmyra (106,85)

Allied Ships
MSW Wollongong
MSW Whyalla

My CVs are still hidden. Wasn't sure what to do there and i decided to send them few hex SE further but also detached 3 DDs and send them towards Nanomea Atoll. Andy will probably avoid direct route from Nomea to Nanomea but i have to try...

I'm start to think that this could be a decoy cause lots of transports are reported at Tarawa-Baker island-Palmyra route...

CHINA

Massive air strike ordered for tomorrow (90 Zeros and 70 LBA) on ships at Tarawa.

Seven Helens attacked Homan AF (it seems that Andy don't have many eng units there).

21 Sallys attacked Kweiyang (routine mission).

Andy moved figthers from Sian to Chungking. I've paid modest price for that, but also destroyed several planes on the ground. Let's hope i will be able to finish job there tomorrow (damned tunderstorms).

Day Air attack on Chungking , at 43,32

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 10
Ki-21 Sally x 75
Ki-49 Helen x 11

Allied aircraft
F4F-4 Wildcat x 13
Hurricane II x 6
Spitfire Vb x 6

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 2 destroyed, 1 damaged
Ki-21 Sally: 7 destroyed, 8 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
F4F-4 Wildcat: 2 destroyed, 9 damaged
Hurricane II: 4 destroyed
Spitfire Vb: 2 destroyed, 1 damaged

Allied ground losses:
113 casualties reported - quite a lot ground casaulties. Did Andy moved BF(s) there?

Airbase hits 6
Airbase supply hits 4
Runway hits 47

All bombing at 6000 feet

Ground combat at Homan

Japanese Bombardment attack

Attacking force 22653 troops, 252 guns, 17 vehicles

Defending force 96211 troops, 414 guns, 0 vehicles

Allied ground losses:
67 casualties reported

Two enemy units arrived on railroad hex northwest of Homan. I was considered to attack them (now i have div, bde and tk regiment) there, but decide not to attack (lack of supply, more enemy LCUs could arrive next turn). Let's leave Andy initiative there - he is under impression of earlier failed Chinese attack, perhaps.

Ground combat at Lanchow

Allied Shock attack

Attacking force 1630 troops, 10 guns, 0 vehicles

Defending force 10272 troops, 125 guns, 0 vehicles

Allied assault odds: 0 to 1 (fort level 0)

Japanese ground losses:
9 casualties reported

Allied ground losses:
444 casualties reported
Guns lost 4

Part of Chinese division arrived at Lanchow from north, commited shock attack and withdrew to Kungchang.

Few allied ac destroyed on the ground. Allied mercenaries playing a "grasshoper game" - they are located in Sian now.

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 10471 troops, 169 guns, 0 vehicles

Allied Ships
APD Colhoun, Torpedo hits 3, on fire, heavy damage- SINKS
AP U.S. Grant, Torpedo hits 1, heavy damage
AP St. Mihel, heavy damage

Quite dissapoint results. Instead of big fat transport fleet at Tarawa, my LBA bombers attack previously damaged ships (which Andy leaved as magnets)...

Spits aren't so dangerous when they come in small numbers - i have more problems with AirCobra and Mohawks (at least 3 Zero kills both types!).

No sign of British fleet SE of Nanomea Atoll...

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 07/14/42

My subs are quite useless against enemy ships (no, jap sub doctrine is off) so i already using them for minelaying. Minefields gives me essential info (could be that Andy mixing DDs just to confuse me) but i'm not going to risk so deep in the enemy waters...

TF 1027 encounters mine field at Suva (86,114)

Allied Ships
DD Porter
DD Dunlap
DD Gridley

Night Time Surface Combat, near Nanomea Atoll at 87,101 - small raiding force found damaged AP (mines) an sank her.

Japanese Ships
DD Mikazuki
DD Mochizuki
DD Hayate

Allied Ships
AP Ormiston, Shell hits 4, Torpedo hits 1, and is sunk

------------------------------------------------
TF 1030 encounters mine field at Suva (86,114)

Allied Ships
DD Ellet
DD Benham
DD Russell
DD Hughes

CHINA

Ground combat at 49,26 - Hopei militia div is defeated...

Japanese Shock attack

Attacking force 10334 troops, 166 guns, 0 vehicles

Defending force 2353 troops, 19 guns, 0 vehicles

Japanese assault odds: 8 to 1

Japanese ground losses:
30 casualties reported

Allied ground losses:
10 casualties reported
Guns lost 1

Defeated Allied Units Retreating!

Decided to risk at Homan-Sian railroad. Three enemy units reported in this hex and I've decide to attack with div, 2 bde and tk regiment (near 1000 AP). I'm not big fan of this solution but hope that Andy don't have more troops on their way to hex (20 K, 9 units reported in Sian which could mean that they are mostly auxilary units...)... let's hope for the best.

PROPAGANDA WAR

Chat after yesterdays bloody encounter at Tarawa skies.

Andy: "Thats anothercrop of senior pilots that wont be back to serve the empire"

Me: "Didn't noticed Spits at Tarawa skies today. You must be dissapointed with their performance. Anyway i see you feeling quite safe in Pacific - that's gonna change soon."

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 07/15/42

PACIFIC

Andy means business in Pacific - he certainly doesn't bringing fuel for cosmetic purposes.
Anyway, my mines continue to decimate his tankers and that are very enjoyable moments in this game.

TF 1049 encounters mine field at Palmyra (106,85)

Allied Ships
MSW Mildura
MSW Lithgow
MSW Bunbury
TK Gulfgem, Mine hits 1, on fire, heavy damage

I've ordered Nells and Bettys at Maloelap on naval attack (max range) and 50% naval search hoping i will found and attack enemy transports at Tarawa-Baker route. I have no luck so far with such unescorted attack but this turns one of my LBA hit previously damaged US Grant at Tarawa.

Andy relased PTs at Tarawa....

Ground combat at Nauru Island

Allied Shock attack

Attacking force 110 troops, 0 guns, 0 vehicles

Defending force 0 troops, 0 guns, 0 vehicles

Allied assault odds: 5 to 1 (fort level 0)

Allied forces CAPTURE Nauru Island base !!!

First action of enemy paras - Andy expecting me at Tarawa thats for sure. Loaded two naval garnisons on FT in Truk. I'm not going to allow enemy control over Nauru yet.

Shokaku carrier division leaves Truk and heading towards Ewinetok. Other two carrier division will joined them (they are on route to Truk) latter and will send the whole KB at Baker-Palmyra area. Hope i will found plenty of enemy ships there...

Invasion on Baker is almost canceled. No need for runing right into dissaster (lots of troops reported on Baker too). It's Andy's time for offensive and i will be ready for him (one div is on route to Marshalls already). If he becomes hasty and attack before 1943 i could smash him at Marshalls).

CHINA

Just two enemy corps and 1st Chinese tk unit defended railroad hex near Homan. Another important victory there and my troops there have at least one fort. Andy bringing reinforcements to Sian (from Chungking and he will probably evacuate Kungchang) but it will take some time until he can gather overhelming force (if...). However, two more enemy corps are out of action and out of supply (they will drain some more supply from the base:)

Ground combat at 48,30

Japanese Shock attack

Attacking force 56181 troops, 612 guns, 146 vehicles

Defending force 17827 troops, 96 guns, 46 vehicles

Japanese assault odds: 21 to 1

Japanese ground losses:
1250 casualties reported
Guns lost 23
Vehicles lost 3

Allied ground losses:
593 casualties reported
Guns lost 20
Vehicles lost 4

Defeated Allied Units Retreating!

Ground combat at Homan

Japanese Bombardment attack

Attacking force 46839 troops, 522 guns, 29 vehicles

Defending force 95512 troops, 424 guns, 0 vehicles

Allied ground losses:
70 casualties reported

My bombers in China were stood down due bad weather. Lets hope tomorrow will be better (rains).

NOTE: i've noticed interesting thing. I was short with supply at Lanchow since i capture it. I know that no supply is produced if enemy units are in the hex, but most of the time Lanchow was occupied only with my forces. However, i was short on supply (500, 700 etc) despite i had 50 HI and sufficient resources for them + 300 supply from the base.

Situation changed suddenly - i have now more than 5000 supply then last turn - how is it possible, Lanchow is still cut from my other bases. I suspect that my paras (now they are one hex from from Lanchow (i'm going to take Sining) could be connected with that, but have no clue how....

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 07/17/42

Chungking bombed - few enemy fighters destroyed on the ground.

That was it

My LBA found enemy transports at Howland islands again but didn't attack...

Very dissapointed with subs performance. One sub is two weeks in Trimcaloe-whatever hex and refuse to attack enemy transport sitting there...

Same with sub sent to Howland island....

Allied Ships

My brave soldiers captured Sining - Odbij-go is successful for now. With capturing Homan i will have more than i expected in such short time. Plus if i surround Chinese there and force them to surrender..... ohohohoho... but it is long way to go, those units still have retreat path (NW of the base) because my tk rtg and calvary unit moves extremely sloow...

it seems that Andy put fighters at Baker islands and put them on LR CAP over transports at Howland islands - my LBA found them last two turns but didn't attack them.

Subs are back in their routine - they didn't attack those transports... grrrr!

I moved CL and 2 DDs towards Howland and they will strike day after tomorrow at transports. My carrier division slowly moving E of Marshalls waiting for other carriers to join them...

Andy still keeps PTs at Nauru - i will strike them with two or three SCs day after tomorrow...

PT PT-120

Andy start using his favourite weapon. Why shouldn't he? they are cheap (1 VP), they can hit capitol ships and they are plenty of them.

Andy actually answered on my question what to do with KB - my strike force will provide support for invasion on Nauru. I just can't allow Andy another easy-victory in the Pacific. He must bleed for every bridgehead (It has been told to general Pauk even before white imperalist foot step on Tarawa)...

ASW attack at 94,82 - east of Marshalls

Japanese Ships
DD Shirayuki
DD Akizuki
DD Yudachi
DD Sazanami
DD Hatsukaze

Allied Ships
SS S-32, hits 2, on fire, heavy damage

Andy is really easy going with subs. Didn't move her last turn and she got what she was asking for...

Well, I was quite dissapointed when i saw outcome of battle for Homan. In the first attack I've got 3-1 (with fort level 9), today i got only 1-1. Really strange, especially because i met all requirements for successful attack (plenty of supply, low fatigue/disruption).

I think i have more AP than first time (additional units arrived) and more HQ support (China Exp Army arrived in Homan hex few turns ago)... tjah, Gary Grigsby is well known as dice roll fan

Ground combat at Homan

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 210196 troops, 2180 guns, 177 vehicles

Defending force 82014 troops, 242 guns, 0 vehicles

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 07/30/42

After another successful ASW attack Andy finally withdraw subs from area (east of Marshalls)

ASW attack at 92,82

Japanese Ships
DD Sazanami
DD Shirayuki

DD Hatsukaze
DD Akizuki

Allied Ships
SS S-42, hits 2, on fire, heavy damage

Ground combat at Kungchang

Japanese Deliberate attack

Japanese assault odds: 301 to 1 (fort level 3)

Japanese forces CAPTURE Kungchang base !!!

Japanese ground losses:

Allied ground losses:

Kunchang falls and northern China is totally under my control.

Ground combat at Majuro - allied paras took this base just to annoy me...and i don't dare send my units via sea (Majuro is heavily mined... bah, my mistake).

Allied Shock attack

Attacking force 100 troops, 0 guns, 0 vehicles

Defending force 0 troops, 0 guns, 0 vehicles

Allied assault odds: 4 to 1 (fort level 0)

Allied forces CAPTURE Majuro base !!!

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 07/31/42

CHINA

Andy will try deblocade Homan defenders. 19 units with 160 000 men are now in rairoad hex between Homan and Sian! (it seems that i start to cheer to early there).

I have 4 divisions, 2 brigades and tk regiment in hex - 120 000 men. There is nothing i can do right now then pray (positive thinking - they will hold, they will hold, they will hold...). I don't know what i could expect from clash there, really. It is open hex, i dont have HQ (but China Exp Army is at Homan), my units have at least one fort.

Ordered my bombers ground attack, but Japanese are really doomed when enemy and friendly units are in same hex...

Routine air raids on Kweiyang and Chungking. Unfortunatly, my bombers refuse to attack Chinese LCU at Homan...

Ground combat at Homan

Japanese Bombardment attack

Attacking force 3460 troops, 118 guns, 0 vehicles

Defending force 77180 troops, 147 guns, 0 vehicles

Allied ground losses:
125 casualties reported
Guns lost 1

Enemy strengh is reduced by 15 K infantry after Homan siege started. My units rested and deliberate attack ordered. If i get here good results (2-1 ods) and hold north of Homan i think i would be able to capture Homan and destroy Chinese at the base... but if i got two bad attacks, Odbij-go will end without seizing main objective...

PACIFIC

On the other hand, Allied bombers attacked in the same situation without any problem...

Day Air attack on 88th Naval Guard Unit, at 79,91 - NAURU

Allied aircraft
B-25C Mitchell x 24

I expected Andy will send Catalinas to reinforce or evacuate paras from Majuro and put LR CAP from Maloelap - three Catalinas intercepted and destroyed in the air.

My CVs and SC TFs moving towards Nauru - i need re-capture Nauru before Andy fortify there. (airfield is still size 0 and only way for reinforcing island is via air with patrol boats and subs).

I'm thinking what to do there - maybe some LR CAP (from KB) over Nauru to intercept his heavies and Catalinas? But i don't like idea very much - from August Allied heavies can drop bigger bombs and i can not ignore potential danger of enemy CV's.

LOGISTIC & INDUSTRY WARFARE

I'm training fighters all over the map - Palembang, Kendari, Cayagan, Rabaul are my main training camps.

It seems that Rabaul isn't best place for that - fighters don't fly every turn. But Rabaul have two advantages compared to other inner training camps: it is close to frontline and targets are just one hex from the base.

Combined fleet is in good shape, repair shipyards in Home Islands collecting repair points.
Akagi is at Singapore (5 sys) and waiting for August upgrade, while Hiryu and Soryu are needed for Nauru operation and will upgrade later.

Almost all DDs finished their upgrade and they are in service.

Supply situation is slowly improving - i have slightly more than 2.4 million and hope that supply situation would only improve in the future (18 500 supply is produced from resource centers daily + supply produced from HI (i have more than 14 K HI)

I found oil leaking - i had in Lanchow 50 K oil but suddently dissapears (no other bases in China found with increasing amount of oil)... oh, well...

Tojo enters in service - 201 Tojos will be produced every month. Tony is still at 134 ac per month but Oscar I factory should upgrade. This will boost my Tony production to almost 200 ac per month.

First Sentai is equipped with Tony already (at Truk). I will send them to Maloelap after repair.

Getting close at Homan!

But enemy will attack our forces north of Homan next turn, that's more than likely. If only my forces could hold just one attack i would capture Homan and capture more than 100 K Chinese... this is certainly so close...

I need rest my troops at least one turn - disruption is from high 30s to 50. Based on my previous results I more than sure I would get poor result if i insist on attack next day.

Ground combat at Homan

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 199983 troops, 2049 guns, 174 vehicles

Defending force 76774 troops, 146 guns, 0 vehicles

Japanese engineers reduce fortifications to 6

Japanese assault odds: 4 to 1 (fort level 6)

Ground combat at 48,30- enemy prepares for assault on my units north of Homan.

Allied Bombardment attack

Attacking force 99882 troops, 552 guns, 6 vehicles

Defending force 123809 troops, 1393 guns, 132 vehicles

Will be enough? Can my forces hold tomorrow? I need touch of Fortune...I was quite ofen just one day behind and there wouldn't be anything sweeter than capture Homan in front of Andy's nose...

Bombers at Ichang and Hsinyang are on ground attack, with strong Zero escort. I hope they will fly tomorrow. It would be nice to hit Sian AF (lots of enemy aircrafts damaged in todays engagements) but i have more important job to do now. I'm ready to take more air casaulties for my goal - capturing Homan and Chinese there...

PACIFIC

Val from Hiyo spot enemy PT boat at Nauru. Suprise gone...

I'm moving another Naval guard unit closer to Nauru with support of KB. Light surface TF will deal with enemy PTs (If Andy leave them at Nauru).

B-17E Fortress x 27

A sidenote: just to relax you from China, did you ever try dealing with PTs by air attacks? Maybe putting Vals on 1000ft naval attack (that's the alt for PT/barge attack, right?) to sink a few bombs in the pests? Will it even work with DBs or will they automaticaly go to 2000 ft to drop their load? Questions, questions...In that case float planes might do. Just not Kates and Zeros.

This is not a good idea - playing with carrier ac while i don't know where are enemy carriers. Besides that, ac have to be set on 100 feet to attack PTs.

Andy didn't attack my troops near Homan?! That's fine, he thinks that he still have enough time to save Homan defenders. But i'm not going to continue with deliberate attacks - I've already ordered Homan Army to commit shock assault...

well it should work, last time i've got 4-1 with lvl 7 fort, Chinese suffered bigger casaulties than me and all my troops are rested, except three division with disruption 20-25... BANZAI!

All bombing at 6000 feet

And finally, Chinese gives up at Homan... almost 100 K soldiers captured and i'm now in position to attack Sian.

Great generalissimus Pauk was pleased to inform Emperor about perfect end of Odbij-go. Not only Homan is captured, North China falls in my greedy hands almost without fight. Paratroops heroic effort (which captured Lanchow and caused Chinese domino effect) shall never be forgotten...

All in all i've got 780 VP today; 640 VP are awarded for killed/captured enemy troops.

Routine attack on Kweiyang (22 Sally; 41 casaulties, 16 runaway hits)

PACIFIC

Allied heavies from Tarawa runs in KB CAP.... 5 zeros lost, but 26 enemy monsters didn't return to base (overall ac losses 31-9).

A6M2 Zero: 4 destroyed, 29 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
B-25C Mitchell: 13 destroyed
B-17E Fortress: 12 destroyed

Ok, i have to stop cheering now cause i have feeling i will scream tomorrow. As you may see from the attached picture, enemy ML Oglala mined Nauru and fleed from KB... grrrr...

Yes guys, you are right, my transport fleet don't have MSW... sometimes i have to ask myself how could you be so stupid? (i'm using mines as defensive weapon but don't even think that enemy could do the same...bah!).

Anyway, i'm taking the risk, naval garnison must land on Nauru - i can not stay here even with KB for to much longer...

AUSTRALIA

Ground combat at 38,98 - on Darwin-Charters Town rairoad line...

Allied Shock attack

Attacking force 25737 troops, 199 guns, 5 vehicles

Allied assault odds: 922 to 1

Japanese ground losses:
440 casualties reported
Guns lost 10

Allied ground losses:
13 casualties reported
Guns lost 1

Defeated Japanese Units Retreating!

Nothing serious. I think he just "provoke" me here. My divisions are in Darwin now - they are resting. I sent one SNLF unit towards Alice spring, but Andy have some troops there. SNLF is now few hex from Alice (Alice, who the.... is Alice?) Spring and we shall see how many troops Andy have there (he moving towards Darwin).

I send one division from Perth to Derby, just in case and i can't defend Perth succesfully cause it is so isolated. So every day gained with Perth in my hands (HI, oil, res) is welcomed and deserved bonus!

Yes, i ended my campaign in China sooner that i hope and my ground losses were extremely light. IMO, Andy made some poor decisions there (undefended Lanchow, quite a weak oposition in Sian-Homan area), but it could be possible that i completely caught him by suprise. Don't know for sure, he is quite speechless and we playing game silently, most of the time..

As for KB, perhaps i'm too catious i admit. Probably under impression from PzB AAR. Ok it was 1944 and result wasn't surprise at all, but i don't want to found myself in such situation in 1942... Lots of planing, lots of thinking and lots of free time spared just to found KB crippled in one day!

Please keep in mind that he brought at least one British carrier in Pacific and i'm not sure i can win against combined AmBrit CV fleet (i will leave to someone else to try it)

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 08/04/42

PACIFIC

Coastal Guns at Nauru Island, 79,91, firing at TF 24

-------------------------------------------------------
TF 24 encounters mine field at Nauru Island (79,91)

TF 24 troops unloading over beach at Nauru Island, 79,91

19 Coastal gun shots fired in defense.
Japanese Ships
DD Kamikaze

Japanese ground losses:
269 casualties reported

TF 1021 encounters mine field at Apamama (86,92)

Allied Ships
ML Oglala, Mine hits 1, on fire

Hehe... ML Oglala (what a strange name for ship) won't mine ports for a while. My subs, as you my see are pretty busy with minelaying missions.

Day Air attack on TF, near Nauru Island at 79,91

Allied aircraft
B-25C Mitchell x 32

No Allied losses

Japanese Ships
AP Ryoyu Maru #21, Bomb hits 1
AP Kamishima Maru
AP Kashu Maru, Bomb hits 4, on fire, heavy damage
AP Kotobuki Maru #5
DD Mikazuki
AP Kiri Maru

Aircraft Attacking:

All B-25C Mitchell bombing at 6000 feet

Calculated risk - it was tunderstorm in the area, but i can be pleased - i could loose one AP in that enemy action.

Temporarely withdraw with KB - i need to be careful here (as i mentioned above). Don't know what Andy plans here:

#1. He is slowly advancing and taking atolls without big risk (he uses "condom transports" - both Majuro and Nauru is AF size one so sub transport and Catalinas are only way of reinforcing this atolls. I called them condom because he don't risk almost nothing).

#2. He is aware of planed (and canceled Gilberts invasion, but he don't know that yet - i left couple divs preparation for Tarawa) and this invasions have purpose to annoy me and disrupt my invasion)

In any case i have to be prepared that he could react with AmBrit CV force (and surface TFs too). I know him, he don't care about pilots and planes so these Mitchells on the strike are "kamikazes" with goal to shot down my KB pilots... and after that he would strike with his mobile force.

Lots of Bettys are on max range naval search at Kwajelain (and one group at Lunga) and i hope would spot him before he suprises me....

Ground combat at Nauru Island

Japanese Shock attack

Attacking force 2560 troops, 16 guns, 0 vehicles

Defending force 1888 troops, 21 guns, 0 vehicles

Japanese assault odds: 0 to 1 (fort level 0)

Japanese ground losses:
369 casualties reported
Guns lost 8

Allied ground losses:
51 casualties reported
Guns lost 2

Cant afford another attack on Nauru... will have wait for reinforcements...

Ok, here is my evil plan for Majuro. I don't see how he could significanly reinforce Majuro so i will start using Majuro as training camp. Maybe would Andy become greedy and send retaliation strike with B-17E... but he will run into Tonys

There is slightly chance for assault on Mili (only one naval guard unit there) but i don't think he would dare send fast transport there (lots of mines). Only few enemy ships reported in Tarawa area. Anyway it is time to bring our battleships from Truk in Kwajelain area.

SOLOMONS - quite lightly defended but don't think he would attack there yet. As you may recall my 1st defensive line is PM-Gili Gili-Lunga. I don't plan to build AFs in rear area (Munda, Dobadura, Buna...) cause i don't think that would help much (and i'm pretty low with supply).

1st defensive line will be supported from 2nd defensive line (Lae-Rabaul-Torokina-Buin: all AFs are lvl 4).

CHINA

Usual raids on Chungking and Kweiyang AFs. China will stay quite for couple of weeks (or months). My units needs to recuperate (i have quite a lot disabled squads). After that my units will advance from Ichang to Chunking-Sian-Ichang crossroad (if Andy wouldn't evacuate Sian before that)....

be careful
when I saw Raver's combined allied fleets I couldn't almost belive how many ships were gathered together - it is powerful force and it is disposable to some extent what can't be said about KB

Bah! Allied combined fleet is only bad copy of Japan Combined Fleet!

I'm joking, of course... you are apsolutely right, Sneer. I follow your AAR and know how many sheeps (ups, ships - i'm in clown mood today) enemy can gather and that's why i'm careful. I will have more glen equipped subs in Nauru area and together with Bettys from Lunga and Kwajelein i hope i would be able to find this sneaky Scot before he attack me).

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 08/05/42

PACIFIC

More enemy units reported at Nauru (raiders joined other Americans on island). Fast BB TF done their job...

Naval bombardment of Nauru Island, at 79,91 - Coastal Guns Fire Back!

Allied Bombardment attack

Attacking force 1372 troops, 19 guns, 0 vehicles

Defending force 3327 troops, 2 guns, 0 vehicles

Japanese ground losses:
11 casualties reported

Enemy presence growning at Nauru. Andy using condom transports (patrol boats) at Nauru and Majuro (2 enemy units reported).

I have no idea what he thinks with that at Majuro and don't think he can supply Majuro. I shot down 5 catalinas over Majuro skies today.

Ok, i will start bombing enemy units at Majuro soon (with Zeros and one Helen sentai) while other Zero groups and Tony sentai will provide defense over Maloelap. Let's see what will hapend there...

Airplanes at Rabaul refuses to attack enemy LCU near base and i have to transfer training groups to Cayagan. One Zero daitai is moved to PM and performe training there.

SS-42 reported sunk (east of Marshalls).

CHINA

Game engine sometimes amaze me. These fragments are invunerable to my escort but they engaging my bombers with success.

Now the evem more funny thing. As you may see from CR 7 Nells (from Manila) bombed Iloilo and escorted with 83 Zeros...phew! But in combat replay i saw 7 Nells attacked Sian (and i don't have Nells in Ichang) escorted with Zeros (have plenty of them there). Of course, Zeros at Ichang were fatigued... tjah!

Day Air attack on Iloilo , at 42,56

G3M Nell x 7

No Japanese losses

Aircraft Attacking:

Andy congrats me on victory at Homan... I've respond him "i think you made some mistakes there"... now i'm going to rest my units there and after a month start new offensive to capture Sian.

Two divisions from China Army send via railroad to Burma. (enemy transports spoted at Diamond Harbour and other India's bases). I don't think he would try seaborne invasion of Burma or Malaya but if he try that i will be ready for him.

AUSTRALIA

7 x B-25C Mitchell bombing at 6000 feet

Ok, it is time to withdraw closer to Darwin. My art unit defeated again and Andy pursue that unit. He realised i'm not going further in Australia (7th Aus Division reported there). I moved another div from Perth and preparing for northern Australia defence (Derby-Darwin axis). Not likely he would try real offensive soon but I don't have anything against it

Andy and me agreed to read next four pages in other AAR. Ah it was so enjoyable to read other side view... It seems that he would not forgive me non-base landing at the Perth (he is pretty deterimine to return me a favour). Let's see will he use these landings in same way i used it at Perth...

I'm glad that he like my maps. He was right with Tarawa invasion so early in the game... it was good estimation, decision and execution.

Be careful with using KB forASW. If you do it regularly, Andy might see the pattern and charge in with his CVs into the KB. Can you spell Midway?

Thanks Hawker, nice to see you back in the action. It seems that more and more people visit "pauk's corner" and i feel quite responsible not to dissapoint my audience, which is a hard task. Andy took good position and i'm already forced to start building my defensive perimeter...

Bah, what's Midway? Do not worry, I'm not using KB for ASW regulary - and i do it only in my backyard from time to time.

Another overescorted raid. I should done there better and now i missed the golden oportunity to hurt his valuable fast minelayers. Ok, this means he still thinks i would go for Gilberts.

Mitchells and B-17 didn't attack my units at Nauru this turn, guess Andy put them on naval attack. Well, we have to trust our Samurais from KB!

First Sentai upgraded to Tojo (China - i need to free my Zeros for other duties), while second Tony sentai upgraded at Truk.

CHINA

Routine attack on Kweiyang and Chungking. I will not report this particular area until something start to happening again.

AUSTRALIA

I'm withdrawing my Sasebo unit from road to Alice spring closer to Darwin. Andy still keeps pressure with couple Aussie units on Darwin-Charters Town railroad but i hope he will come closer - in range of my army bombers.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 08/10/42

Another quite a peaceful turn. KB and invasion fleet arrives one hex east of Nauru and invasion is just about the start. All KB fighter groups are on 80 % CAP (no enemy carriers reported in area) and admiral Yamaguchi count on weather (tunderstorms). I don't see how enemy fragments could resist against division and two tk regiments so only potential danger is enemy carriers. Lets hope Andy will give me few more turns...

I'm wondering myself what he planing to do if he doesn't use carriers in Nauru - Gilberts area? Attack on PI or Solomons?... hm....

Yubari will be fine (30 sys, 28 float) - heading to Shortlands.

TF 40 encounters mine field at Nauru Island (79,91)

Japanese Ships
CL Yubari, Mine hits 1, on fire

My minelaying subs arrives at Tarawa...

ASW attack near Tarawa at 85,91

Japanese Ships
SS I-30

Allied Ships
DM Preble
DM Tracy
DM Ramsay
DM Montgomery
DM Gamble

And delivers!....enemy fast minelayers runs into minefield...

TF 1050 encounters mine field at Tarawa (85,91)

Allied Ships
DM Ramsay, Mine hits 1, on fire, heavy damage

Silversides was lucky here (hm, still no report about Haddock - she should sink after 3 hits with 250 kg bomb).

ASW attack near Nauru Island at 79,91

Japanese Ships
DD Numakaze
DD Hakaze
DD Hayate

Allied Ships
SS Silversides

Ahhhh, finally! Enemy transport was attacked and sunk by I-22...

Sub attack near Howland Island at 93,91

Japanese Ships
SS I-22

Allied Ships
AK Rhesus, Torpedo hits 2, on fire, heavy damage

Helens from Maloelap attacking enemy construction unit at Majuro. Zeros start training too. Tony sentai is on CAP duty over Maloelap now. One more Tony sentai (at Truk) will be ready in a week...

Day Air attack on 4th Naval Construction Battalion, at 83,83

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 24
Ki-49 Helen x 11

No Japanese losses

Allied ground losses:
23 casualties reported

Aircraft Attacking:
11 x Ki-49 Helen bombing at 6000 feet
24 x A6M2 Zero bombing at 2000 feet
