AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 04/11/42 A very exciting turn. Andy did not move with carriers towards Perth or transfered carrier based ac to the base. I guess that he was afraid of my bombardment TF. My CA's did not inflict significant damage to Perth: Naval bombardment of Perth, at 7,100 - Coastal Guns Fire Back! 21 Coastal gun shots fired in defense. Japanese Ships DD Sanae DD Hasu DD Hatakaze DD Harukaze DD Asakaze DD Yudachi DD Hagikaze CA Furutaka CA Aoba CA Kumano CA Ashigara, Shell hits 5 CA Chokai CA Atago CA Takao Allied ground losses: 286 casualties reported Guns lost 14 Vehicles lost 2 Airbase hits 1 Airbase supply hits 1 Runway hits 5 Port hits 2 Ok, these ships will be now used for supporting amphibious invasion. They will join transports 2 hex away from Perth where i've sent all my TF's. My troops at Perth will attack tomorrow - i need to get fort level down, but what is more important is causing some casaulties/disruption to the defenders. I need as much as possible lighter casaulties during disembarking. No naval bombardment for tomorrow, i've decide to wait for another turn. Let's hope it was good decision. Naval bombers from CV's hit SS Sealion. There is no much examples in history that IJN and IJA coordinated their actions well. Yes, IJA planes from Koepang did not attack Derby AF so all honour goes to IJN this time. Kongo BB TF found several ships at Derby waters, only few survived til dawn. Night Time Surface Combat, near Derby at 24,85 Japanese Ships BB Kongo BB Haruna CA Haguro DD Kuroshio DD Amatsukaze DD Arashio DD Ayanami Allied Ships DD Edsall, Shell hits 16, and is sunk Night Time Surface Combat, near Derby at 24,85 Japanese Ships BB Kongo BB Haruna CA Haguro DD Kuroshio DD Amatsukaze DD Arashio DD Ayanami Allied Ships AK Katong, Shell hits 27, and is sunk Do you remeber this ship? Japanese Ships DD Kuroshio DD Amatsukaze, Shell hits 2 DD Ayanami DD Arashio, Shell hits 2, on fire CA Haguro BB Haruna BB Kongo Allied ground losses: 37 casualties reported Guns lost 2 Runway hits 2 Port supply hits 1 PACIFIC Two ships are reported south of Tarawa! I guess it is invasion fleet for Tarawa. I've responded with transfering Nells and Zeros to Kwajalein but their destination is Maloelap. I have there air HQ and 150 air support - and from there i can reach Tarawa with Zeros! I think that Solomons are not in danger now (2 US CVs are now in south Australia waters) so i've decided to send South East Detachment to Marshalls. CHINA My air raid on Chungking was right on time! Andy moved fighters there, which alert me last turn. And i was right - 60 bombers waiting in Ledo. Andy want to strike with them on my targets in the China and this we must not allow. Day Air attack on Chungking , at 43,32 - that was strike from Ichang. Japanese aircraft A6M2 Zero x 19 Ki-43-Ib Oscar x 65 Ki-44-IIb Tojo x 8 Ki-21 Sally x 63 Ki-49 Helen x 8 Allied aircraft F4F-4 Wildcat x 6 Wirraway x 3 P-40B Tomahawk x 19 P-40E Warhawk x 12 I-16c x 8 Japanese aircraft losses A6M2 Zero: 1 destroyed Ki-43-Ib Oscar: 16 destroyed, 1 damaged Ki-44-IIb Tojo: 1 destroyed Ki-21 Sally: 1 damaged Allied aircraft losses F4F-4 Wildcat: 8 destroyed Wirraway: 1 destroyed, 1 damaged P-40B Tomahawk: 14 destroyed P-40E Warhawk: 5 destroyed, 3 damaged I-16c: 4 destroyed Allied ground losses: 4 casualties reported Airbase hits 3 Airbase supply hits 1 Runway hits 46 Oscars were our heros today! Their sacrifice would remain forever in the anals of IJA AF. 16 Oscars were shot down (14 pilots) but they managed to shot down 17 enemy planes! (Of course Oscars pilots are crack ones - app 80 exp). Tojo Chutai deserve a honour as well - i've lost one Tojo but 7 enemy planes shot down. Zero Daitai is awarded with 4 kills. So total outcome is 40 enemy planes lost (28 A2A, 11 destroyed on the ground), while i lost 24 planes (18 A2A,2 flak, 4 ops) I will try to finish job there tomorrow with strike from Wuhan. Bombers will be escorted with 40 Zeros. Let's hope they will fly from Wuhan (weater report - rains) Remains of my paras are again forced to retreat to the woods west east of the Kunming. Ground combat at 40,34 Allied Shock attack Attacking force 8813 troops, 58 guns, 0 vehicles Defending force 1021 troops, 0 guns, 0 vehicles Allied assault odds: 51 to 1 Japanese ground losses: 11 casualties reported Allied ground losses: 33 casualties reported Guns lost 1 Defeated Japanese Units Retreating!
