Pauk picks of bases in SOPAC

My Mediums are starting raids in northern Burma.

I have a huge portion of the USAAF in India I really did expect an attack on India.

I estimate 4 weeks for the 10/42 upgrades to be reapaired so lets say 4 weeks add 2 weeks for deployment I will be ready to strike in mid November.

I just need to pick a target.

I have lost sight of the IJN Carriers but with the Combined Pacific Fleet I think an invasion of the Solomons in November is looking good as the Marshalls will be to heavily defended by now alternatively a re invasion of PM looks like a real possibility

OK 4 choices for my November Pacific Offensive

Wake
Marshalls
Solomons
PM

My current thinking is a 3 Divisional Assault on PM or Solomons any thoughts ?

Wake is to isolated and the Marshalls to heavily defended by now

OK guys time to confess a cock up in this last turn I noticed a mistake I had made in terms of game mechanics.

I had obviously been playing with options and running some tests and I appear to have done it in a live turn. (oops !!!)

SOPAC had been sent to SEAC and as a result 3rd USMC Para and Raider Bns have appeared at Karachi. Only these two units have been affected no other air or land units are impacted.

This was not my intent.

I do not want to declare this to Pauk as I was intending to send the Paras to SEAC for a cunning plan I had so I am logging the issue here and taking corrective action.

I have found SOPAC HQ and converted back to SOPAC and have paid the PP cost for both Bns to make them SEAC.

In effect this has cost me 400 PP's more than it should have but knocked 60 days off the arrival of the Paras

As this was a screw up I will also be holding those two units inactive prepping for San Francisco at Karachi for the 60 turns they should have been in transit.

I am not declaring this to Pauk as I dont want to give away my surprise no action will be taken with these units they will not move or do anything until 29th November.

In one word bollocks!!!!

My habit of using large convoys came back to bite me Pauk crucified a convoy fortunately it was just supplies and fuel but its a blow no mistake.

2 aspects of this

1. My Fleet has just refitted and is not fit for combat for a while so this is bad.
2. He is getting bolder this is bad
3. Those supplies were important this is bad

Overall a BAD day for the Allies

This could be a start of a commerce campaign and will make me more carefull in future all of which are good objectives.

I can replace the AK's and TK's but my experience of 43 44 as the allies is that every AK is valuable.

To keep up a rolling campaign and keep the Allied air machine supplied eats supplies.

Andy

OUCH!!!

Another case in point of why I haven't gotten into the practice of large convoys - no more than 5 TK's or AK's per TF. My escorts are used for AP (troops) mainly. I will have to modify my approach if things go badly for me.

Yup I know where they are but with 50+ USN DD's at 15 sys because of the 10/42 upgrades not much I can do about it he timed it perfectly.

I have been pretty carefull not to overload my convoys but this one slipped through and was a mistake and must have slipped through the net.

Doh !!!

2nd P38 Sqn activated Ledo for those who saty the allies have to many 4E bombers I did a little count of my active sqns in this game

USAAF ONLY

A20 9 Sqns
B17 7 Sqns
B24 8 Sqns
B26 9 Sqns
B25 27 Sqns

The B25 is the real workhorse of the USAAF with dammed near 45% of my total bombing force in this medium bomber but at present 45 out 60 sqns are in 2E types.

Now this will change over time as I will be re equipping the A20, B26 and probably B17 Sqns increasing the proportion of 4E to about 40% I will probably aim to re quip A20's to B26's and some to B24D's with an eventual goal of phasing out A20 then B17's

Quiet few turns not much happening I now have 3 sqns of P38's and trhe US Pacific Fleet is nearly all repaired.

Almost time to throw the dice.

I would like to attack in the Gilberts/Marshalls and capture a few bases under cover of the USN at the same time I am seriously considering an attack on PM supported by the RN Pacific Fleet.

At present I am demonstrating towards Darwin while my Armour rolls up the railway track towards Perth.

I will bring down AK's from India to resupply my spearhead as they are far beyond the effective railhead.

It is likely that this unloading of supplies will need to be covered by the RN TF and a bombardment TF will be required to close the AF.

If I time it right the RN can close Perth and retire just as the USN attacks in the Gilberts.

Its really quiet again I am just not willing to engage at moment.

Nothing critical is threatened I have good position in Marshalls there is just no incentive to attack early.

Its boring for Pauk but I have zero reason to take risks at moment

October Refits are complete.

RN Pacific Fleet moves to support the attack on Perth

USN Pacific Fleet is going to remain at Pearl to cover West Coast convoys for a while.

Pauk seems to think I should be attacking him but I can see no need to do so.

OK last night the RN Pacific Fleet reinforced by USS Saratoga and USS California/Colorado a toltal of 4 Fleet Carriers, 1 Light Carrier, 7 Battleships, 1 Battle Cruiser and over 50 other ships set sail for the advanced striking base of Adeilade where fuel has been stockpiled.

The fleets goal is to close the AF at Perth for the duration of the campaign

The Ground Units are approaching the N/S junction with armoured spearheads 300 miles away.

The Armies intention is to send 1 reinforced Bde north to provide Rear Area Security for the strike force and prevent the force being bottled up in the south.

At the same point the bulk of 1st Aus Corps will move south to Perth by Land taking on supplies accross the beach 240 miles north of Perth.

For the duration of this unloading the AF will be suppressed by NGS and Bomber strikes from the Carriers

Pauk sends DD's into the Bay of Bengal !!!

Some orphanede SBD's destroy 1 given these are just normal supply convoys I dont understand why he is attacking there its weird.

I am not going to let it affect my plans but it strikes me as odd.
