I do remember spending some time TRYING to figure out Monopoly Tycoon. Familiar with monopoly yes, but this tycoon gimmik--no. Spent ages trying to get past the bloody tutorial. All I remember was trying to do something that would cause people to vote for me and I had to collect 3 votes. I tried everything but just found it damn impossible.

I guess I must be getting very old, when I can't even figure out a kid's game anymore even after going through the manual.

Lol Pippin I slaughter that game and I'm near 50. I've let the computer ai get a bunch of years head start and still beat it to the final score. The secret is (buy up all the properties that there are a bunch of buildings on and get all the rent every turn.) Also, apartments are good source of income. They never build the upgraded stuff and this is where you can fly in sales and income by building bowling alleys, video stores, music stores, there's a point in the game where they AI just dies and you can buy all those businesses and rake in the money. THENNNNNN buy up a complete set of lots the AI owns and then buy up all their businesses for pratically nothing, plus you still get that rent savings for those turns.

That voting game is easy, just build a bunch of parks and beautification items for your lots. I usually take Baltic and Mediteranian blocks and keep them the whole game. These are ones I start out on cause they are cheap, but, once you build up your business on them, the good ones, don't buy all those cheap crap business at the start of the game, just a few choice ones that have a steady income like apts and the Cinemas, Bars and Restaurants. In games where there's not much population in apts. Build the biggest apt you can afford right off the bat and charge $22 and once it's full move to $24. You'll make a fortune without any other businesses for awhile even.

I've beat every scenario on the gold setting on hard difficulty in the game and have tried to setup a game to give the AI's a fighting chance like first to 100,000 net worth and then sit back and wait till they get like 50,000 ahead of me and then play. lol And I still win. That game would be so much fun and get a lot more of my playtime if it had a decent AI. I can't understand why it never builds anything beyond the first set of businesses. Only thing every once in a blue moon it plays a steal property card on me and takes one of my upgraded businesses. Lol I just then buy it right back out from under them. By mid game I'm loaded with cash. Then because they did that, I then buy up all the properties they have buildings on and then buy up all those buildings, then they have no income, no nothing. lol

Screw the AI, at the start of every game I force sales of all the utilities and railroads, lol, the AI wants to keep the player from getting them so badly they will spend their last dime, then that leaves me wide open to buy up their lots or a complete set of lots and do this around 6am when they get hit with rent. hehe Between 6am to 8am is the time to strike so you want to time your auctions accordingly, that's when most of them have the least amount of money to buy an auctioned property.

You know, KOEI was the only company to give us non pc owners some good titles back in the 8bit NES, SuperNES, and Genesis era....I spent countless days playing the aformentioned PTO, plus Le'Emperuer, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Nobunaga's Ambition, Genghis Khan, Liberty or Death, and Operation Europe.....Just as I cut my board game teeth on the likes of Tactics II, Blitzkrieg, and Kriegspiel, these early console titles were my introduction to video strategy gaming....

Ohhh,

I can't believe I forgot about "Nobanaga's Ambition" I'd fall asleep in the chair late at night playing that game..lol Wow, I still have all those games stashed away, believe it or not, with the original boxes and everything. I also remember when I'd play PTO2 as Japan, and make all the new ships, I'd break out the Map for Nobanaga's Ambition, with all the names on it, and use those names to rename my ships. Man I had a blast.

I bought a 3DO gaming console only because Panzer General was available...I recall seeing the DOS version of PG prior to that and thought how cool it would be to learn computer skills just to play the game, but computers back then were too expensive....finding that the 3DO system had Panzer General was heaven and I played that game for quite a long time, and still go back to it from time to time..
