Hello,

Playing the japanese is an idea that continue to make it way in my mind but I am wondering about the possibilities to couteract very large shore islands CD with the japanese.

The puny payload of their bombers make them in need of carefully planning.

Before I send in BB to start bombing what is the best mission to give for suppresing of 8"-14" CD ? and what kind of planes ? Having already forces landed help ( I was wondering about a pre-naval invasion paradrop ) ?

The best way to deal with them is to land somewhere else. This is why many Jap held islands were bypassed rather than assaulted.

If you are dead set on taking a particular island, bomb the port. This will destroy the coastal guns in the base forces. As for CD units, you will have to use LBA on ground attack and hope they pick the CD unit (they usually attack the highest AV so they may not) as their target.

Worst case, put a ton of CA/CL units in the landing force. They should suck up a lot of the CD guns shots and their armor will allow them to fare better then unaromered APs.

Any planes. You fly "port attack mission". Pound them for a few days with aircraft, then send in your BBs with "escorts off" so your DDs wont get chewed up. Dont have any CLs in the TF either. If you have a lot of BBs (4+) you may want to leave the CAs out as well to avoid damage to them too.

even with escorts off - my dd and cas get pounded by cd guns

( attacking port m as a jap )
