I think you should use your fleet to go hunting for the Japanese navy once this operation is over.
Your Flak and CAP should enable you to inflict much more damage than what you may suffer. If you put his fleet off business you'll be able to bypass his heavily fortified islands and strike where it hurts.

You dont need to take every single base. Your aim is to invade Japan. You don't have enough troops to play an attrition game against the Japanese. He has both more troops and replacements than you do, so you can't afford to lose troops on secondary targets. On the other hand you now outmatch his navy and airforce. If you chase his navy from the seas He won't be able to send anymore supplies to those islands or take the troops there back home.

be carefull though, he might lure you into following him where he'll have all his Jack/Georges/Betties/Sallies and then with all of KB as well it could be painful...

For the next 6 months its a case of grind accross the pacific and NG to get his atrtrention focused.

This happens in any event.

The decision point is do I go Marianas/PI or go for a deeper strike at that point.

I havent decided one way or the other yet but I am thinking about it.

Especially in NG area/ Java

In a pause form active ops I think about my future intentions and if he is going to forward deploy and force me to fight through these forts then I suspect that a real deep strike in late 44 is a real possibility to bypass Marianas etc

OK Phase 2 the assault landing of 33rd Div goes in

My only word for it is ouch....

But this is weird this TF got ashore less disrupted than the others.

Now thats partly doen to the initial shock attack getting 3:1

But could it also have something to do with the AGC actually being in this TF I wonder if AGC impact is restricted to the TF that actually attacks.

My air fianlly attack ground forces its weird how irrational CAS appears to be.

When I order them to attack I just wish they would sodding attack. Next time one of my pilots has a "morale failure" I am going to re instigate keel hauling

What can I say the C47 carrying the beer was shot down this morning by Japanese AA over Kwal although the aircraft was seen to be intact lying just outside of Airfield perimeter...........

When this fact of life was explained to the Australian Tankers steps were taken.....

High Command commented it would have been really nice if the C47 had landed on the airfield as the marauding Aussie Grants stopped when the aircraft was secured and its immediate area pacified

p.s. I am very happy now Kwal should fall tomorrow then its time to follow up with Operation Sleep the assault on Entiwock and finish off maloep and that will be the end of operations in the Marshalls until my forces are 100% ready.

After my Carriers are fuelled I may launch a deep strike carrier raid before assaulting NG

Great work Andy, This one should give you a good estimate as to what forces will be required for the future atolls.

Yup and it was nasty 5 Divisions and 200 Tanks all the Inf are now wrecked and will need serious R&R time.

The armour is in surprisingly good shape

(Although Kwal is a temperate zone so they should recover quickly)

I am going to relocate Centpac command HQ to Kwal to facilitate recovery.

p.s. for any that were in any doubt temperate zone = good.

9th Aus is at 100% after one month in Oz and it was seriouslt wrecked. 1st Cav was in reasonable shape and stayed at Rabaul and is in no way as recovered as 9th Aus.

Nice job.
Your troops can get their R&R while prepping for the next objective.
Dropping beer on enemy positions is evil and against the rules of warfare though

Quiet turn as I stage engineers forward to Kwal.

Apparently losing the Beer ration is a crime under the Australian Military regs

I am going to have to reorganise in next few days

Well done Andy!

But please don´t forget to bomb Truk, please!

Could you imagine to stage such an Attack on Colombo?
I think your Brit forces would appear in Colombo then?

He is not so strong yet, but he will receive very very many reinforcement units this year.
You need to make him transfer troops away from your line of attack.

Hi Frank,

No, UK reinforcements only appear in Karachi or Bombay.

I don't think it's worth the risk of diversion of time and strength of forces needed to release the UK stuff. Especially as I recall someone saying that only HQ units appeared and NOT INF!

I still say keep slugging through the Pacific.

Regards,

Steven

Truk I am not bothered about if he wants to contest it let him I can close it at will and kill a lot of pilots doing so.

Truk is just a big trap for him now.

Re India I have thought it through and the fact is its just not worth it.

There are only about 3 Inf Divs waiting in the que plus lots of air and sea.

If I was going to do it it would be late 44 but the fact is I dont have the assault shipping I would require to take either Bombay or karachi never mind the ground forces.

(5 Divs wrecked on Kwal/ 1 on Maloep) 3 more likely on Entiwok after Operation Sleep CENTPAC will have shot its bolt.

Then the focus will switch to SWPAC and SOPAC.

The only opportunity I can see for an Indian adventure is Autumn 44 assuming I have exhausted SWPAC and SOPAC and CENTPAC isnt ready for a deep strike.

I may be able to free up ABDA ground forces and assault shipping sufficient for a 4 - 6 Divisional assault on Bombay or Karachi but it is not likely.

Andy
