The Battle of Gettysburg, fought between the Army of the Potomac and the Army of Northern Virginia, is considered by many the turning point of the American Civil War.
Lasted three days, from July 1st to July 3rd, 1863, the battle saw many epic and tragic moments, culminating in the famous Pickett's Charge, the desperate frontal assault of the confederates against the unionist defensive lines at Cemetery Ridge.
Today, Shenandoah and Slitherine are very proud to release Gettysburg: The Tide Turns, the brilliant hex-based wargame that will make you relive all the hard tactical choices the Confederates and the Unionists had to take during these long and crucial days of fierce fighting.

The development history of Gettysburg: the Tide Turns has been a rollercoaster ride. When Slitherine acquired the rights to complete the game three years ago, our expectations were that we would deliver the game in a matter of months. That turned out to be impossible and we had to rewrite huge chunks of the code from scratch, taking 3 years rather than 3 months.
Gettysburg: The Tide Turns will be available for PC on Thursday (July 13th).

The North Pole is hitting the front-page news these days, turning to be the next element of confrontation between Washington and Moscow.
Russia is in the 4th year of a 15-year project to install the ‘SHELF’ underwater Sound Surveillance System (SOSUS), a very modern equivalent to the US Navy’s Cold War system of listening arrays in the Greenland-Iceland-UK (GIUK) Gap.
And it’s news from yesterday that a Russian submarine launched a cruise missile in Arctic Barents Sea, testing Moscow’s offensive-defensive capabilities in the far north.

As the developing process is marching quickly along the beta testing phase, it’s time to dig a bit more into the main differences and improvements players will find from the original game released in 2009.
“Field of Glory II is a complete reboot of the franchise, based on the original tabletop Field of Glory rules as a starting point, rather than on Field of Glory I” says Richard Bodley Scott, the main designer of Field of Glory 2. “There are therefore many differences from FOG1 – which we hope are all improvements. Being co-author of the original tabletop game, I am in a unique position to create a fresh take on the system”.
Let’s take a closer look, shall we?

After the Revolution against British domination, no other event has been seen so important and decisive for the American Nation as the Civil War, fought from 1861 to 1865.
One of the most important battles of this conflict was without any doubt Gettysburg, fought between the Army of the Potomac (Union) and the Army of Northern Virginia (Confederacy) and lasted from July 1 – 3, 1863. General Lee commanding the confederate forces sought the chance to ease the pressure on the city of Vicksburg, besieged by the unionists. Instead, his was defeated by Maj. Gen. George Meade, halting the invasion of Pennsylvania and forcing his army to retreat back to Virginia.
