Her medals sat on the coffee table between them; dull, dusty.
“Do you miss it?”
Eleanor held her coffee close. The warmth was comforting, unlike this turn in the conversation. “Do I miss it? Do I miss watching my wingmen get shot out from my peripheral? Is that what you’re asking?”
“That’s not what I meant—”

Welcome to the first Field of Glory: Empires developer diary! We felt we ought to start off with a summary of what the game is, and what you can expect. We will be following on with detailed explanations in subsequent diaries.
FoG: Empires is a strategy game set in the Ancient World roughly from the fall of Alexander the Great’s empire. It seeks to provide strategic empire management together with the AGEOD staple of turn-based play and historical detail. We believe we have unique features to deliver these, while also remaining familiar and easy to understand for the fans of the genre.
Speaking of the features themselves, we certainly have plenty of them in Empires, closely interconnected with one another as it should be in a grand strategy game.

If Infantry has often been called the “Queen of Battles”, Cavalry should have been declared “Infantry’s worst enemy”.
For centuries in Ancient Times, large cavalry formations constituted one of the most dangerous threats to professional and non-professional armies alike.
Ferocious and merciless, the semi-nomadic peoples of Ancient Times were led by powerful chiefs and kings, the most feared among them listed amongst the world’s greatest conquerors.
Will your destiny be “to crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women”?

Hi everybody!
Everyone who played Armored Brigade knows that maps are one of the best element of the game. Highly precise and derived from real ones, they provide battlefields for every need.
We have already covered in one Dev Diary the incredible amount of work that Veitikka Studios put in the process of creating such detailed maps.

The United States and its ally Colombia have declared that they will retaliate against any treat coming from the “murderous regime of Caracas” supported by Moscow.
After heavy fights occurred in two border towns, where soldiers wearing Venezuelan uniforms have stormed, Bogotà is quickly requesting support from the United States, worried that the Russian presence in the island of La Orchila would greatly impede any major action against Venezuela without escalating the conflict.
Are we witnessing the end of the Monroe Doctrine or will the USA intervene to prevent a new Syria-style crisis at their "courtyard?"

Have you already read this thrilling Field of Glory II narrated AAR featuring the last attempts of the Western Roman Empire to preserve its sovereignty? Kudos to user A Human Being for such nice work!
From the AAR description:
"A narrative centered on the Field of Glory II shuffle battles, being made in custom battles that are not part of the campaign, focused on fictional events but with real macro events from the end of the life of the Emperor Majorian until the end of the Western Roman Empire. Accompanying the plot of Domitian Natta, and his commanders in the face of this decline."
Here's below a little taste of this grand-scale AAR or read here for the full entry

The eyes of the world are pointed on South America, as rumours of fights along the border between Venezuela and Colombia are being confirmed. With the Russians coming in support of Caracas, the situation could escalate very quickly to a full-scale regional conflict.
Will the United States intervene to prevent a new Syria-style crisis at their "courtyard?"

The gym was often empty during this particular shift. Lucinda’s presence in the room was enough to keep the rest of the battered equipment vacant. She played old Tauron music whenever she was here alone; raunchy lyrics from teenage mops of hair and guitars, borne of a time when she was young enough to care about such things. She adjusted her footing, squared up the bag once more, and released one one two, her left foot tapping the floor on both jabs before the cross. The bag wavered dutifully.
Footwork had always been her strong point. No point throwing your hands up if you didn’t have the balance and stamina to match. She’d made some quick cubits back in the academy flooring some of the flyboys. Most of them were dead now.

The crisis that has enveloped Venezuela since 2013 has reached a quasi-apocalyptic dimension.
The Government of Caracas has accused in several occasions that the reason for this humanitarian catastrophe is the constant interference of the USA and its puppets in the region, willing to stop the glorious Bolivarian Revolution started with Hugo Chavez.
These suspects have been reinforced by the enclosing relationship between Colombia and NATO, culminating in 2015 in a joint military operation against maritime piracy.

War spares no one: Orks, Necrons, Astra Militarum, Adeptus Astartes. All are spilling blood. But no one expected this.
It started as a rumour: xeno test subjects escaping from an Adeptus Mechanicus research facility. Then it turned into something more sinister... word of something lurking in the remote corners of Gladius Prime, ever growing, driven by an insatiable hunger.
Now everything has changed: the Tyranids are here!

We said this week we would show everything of the new DLC for Warhammer 40,000: Gladius, Tyranids.
We already spoke at length of the new gameplay mechanics yesterday, and we'll follow up every day with news about the new DLC.

The Tyranids are an extremely original and unique race.
Their playstyle is rather different compared to the other factions: they field large numbers of cannon-fodder infantry which is best employed to cover for very powerful heavy infantry. They have access to highly specialised units (more on them in a units diary later this week) as well as flying monstrous creatures!
