Hi all
I have been following three games which were experiencing problems with the sim dip phase not advancing to the correct phase. I have results from two of the games (the third may still be having patching problems). In the two games where the re-install procedure was followed, re-installing from 1.06.03 to 1.07.02 to 1.08.04 is working.
As a warning however, just to be on the safe side, Spain should not attempt to load anyone else's diplomacy phase until the diplomacy phase of all the other players is in the "comin" directory. Attempting to load the diplomacy files when only some are present (or at least possibly when one of the files that is present is GB), can cause problems, at least in January 1805. To be on the safe side, as Spain, wait until the dip phases from the other 6 players are in the comin folder before attempting to load any dip phase file.
This may only happen during the first month of the game immediately after set up, but I am not sure yet.

Heard back from the last (third) game that had a phase sequencing problem, and everything is now working fine after everyone re-installed with the proper versions. It looks like the problem was with the patching sequence.

Hopefully now we can move on to fixing the last couple of not so urgent issues (i.e. the autoback up's and clarification on skipping during diplomacy, and about a dozen Mantis items).

DB, I dont know where you got that idea.
That there is no urgency ?

My game is on hold, waiting for the hotfix, and Spain retired. Since the bug screwed the game.

Probably will not be a hotfix since the v1.08 patch does work, if the convoluted re-install sequence is followed.  Whatever it takes though, Marshall and Matrix really should focus on comprehensive patches from here on that do not require sequential patching.  Maybe not urgent, but getting that done plus a few other modest fixes as DB suggests is more important than the other v1.09 updates.  We are starting to see light at the end of the long tunnel here, but this has been such a painfully slow process.  Here's to 2011 being a little more faster with patch updates.

I second that PZ. I very much hope the next patch is a stand alone.

Bresh, I recall that your game have a different error from everyone else's, i.e. it is not a problem with the phase sequencing? I think yours was that some actions by some players were not being followed. I have heard of this problem in the first diplomacy phase following setup only, but have not experienced it. In that case, the game proceeds even if not all the dip phases are in, so some players actions are missed. Normally Spain gets a warning that dip files are missing, and this does not happen.

I've run through about 6 diplomacy phases with sim dip in the two games I am in, and we have never had an diplomacy action from a player not be carried through (we also did some crazy manipulation actions to test it as well).

I can only suggest you a) check that all your players are on the same patch, and b) have the Spanish player have all the dip phases before trying to load them.

You guys are right, and the patching procedure needs to be replaced with a single upgrade.

As far as i know Spain had all the files, but in what order they where loaded i dont know.
But yes, problem is not everyones turn was run right.
If it was just 1 if would had thought human error. But my own orders where not executed, along side GB's.

Also in our game Russia had flagged passed diplomacy but still submitted, there are couple things that could cause the issue, like Spains phase loads the files in inpropper order, or Russias-diplomacy that was set to pass, makes the game create unwanted results.

I dont have a Spanish player atm..

Hmm... the issue has NOT been fixed by everyone reinstalling. We are still getting the "game out of sequence error" at least once per game month

Can you tell the GM to do a manual backup, utilize those files then see if the error keeps popping up?

I am the GM, and yes I can load from a backup and everything seems okay for a while, but suspect that eventually we'll get to a point where a backup will not work.

Is there anyone out there playing with 1.8.04 who is not having any issues?

I think most games are proceding without issue now.

For your game, I think you are host as Prussia. If you are creating backups when your turn is open and not finished (i.e. the game has got to your turn and you are doing something), you might be creating an out of sequence error, in that the file you create will not be in the same game as the file you send out.
