It goes without saying, we all like it being said.

Wish I could be celebrating with a new wargame, but the cold realities of the moment have forced me to just hang tough hehe.

Maybe by end of summer my wallet will be nice to me :)

Remember I told you what a great game SC was and you kept he-hawing around trying to get past the stacking deficiency and such. See that's a sign your getting old and "set in your ways". Now that you've finally accepted how much fun SC is, especially H to H, its time to introduce yourself to another great game, just as good as SC and maybe better. You already know what I'm going to say, so just bite the bullet and go ahead and support Dave, Paul, and Steve's future endeavors and purchase HttR. Yeah...Yeah... I know you want to save your money for WaW, SC2, or cWiF which don't have the tactical flavor HttR has and God only knows when CL will be ready and you know your true love is the tactical arena. Tell me I'm wrong? See you can't.....I know, ....just like I knew about SC. Believe me Les, HttR is a thing of beauty, you can't believe how novel a game system it is and its only going to get better. Get over this turn based dilemma you've created for yourself with that reoccurring HoI nightmare, stop being "set in your ways" or you are going to miss out. You may only get this one chance at the "Panther Experience", cause as old as your getting you never know and terrorists abound everywhere. So Les, for your birthday, get HttR, in the same spirit of SC I implore you. You can thank me later.

Status: offline 		Okay, since your considering it I'm going to have to fess up. There is one drawback to HttR and that is no PBEM. The AI is OK if you give it max supplies and reinforcements, but I really miss the H to H experience.......which is my own fault for not allocating the time to TCP. The ability is there (H to H) but it is not consistent with the conveniences of my current lifestyle, to many demands on my time. Honestly though I may have to take a vacation day and try it, perhaps Yakstock would afford me the privilege. Problem is I know I'll be interrupted continuously in any two hour span and that is not considerate to my opponents and I'm not willing to undermine that level of responsibility to my fellow humans, which some people may think is trivial, but I do not. The flow of this game is really efficient and allows the players to finish a scenario rather conveniently so I know you will enjoy it, in short it is wargaming's future, IMO, now all I need is PBEM.

Status: offline 		A pitty Yohan, for all those that don't give this one a try will really miss a very unique, realistic command structured gaming experience. There are more versions on tap, so I have no doubt you will eventually cave, why not sooner then later, life is so short.

Status: offline 		PBEM is just one option under the sun, and is actually not always great. After all, you might be playing me (and yeah Sea Monkey know what I mean....come on Les send your @$@$@%^$ turn).

I can likely find a full afternoon open to do nothing but play a game easier than I can find the discipline to get my $#@$%@% turn sent regularly and reliably.

That said, not having PBEM is not a major issue (with me at least). The game just might not realistically support it.
I for instance am expecting the cWiF crowd to get their game, and then find that even if it has PBEM, it will likely be an excrutiating experience.

Is HTTR able to be played on a LAN? I am assuming anything that can be played TCP/IP can, but I am not a TCP/IP expert.

I am hoping the AI will be a decent challenge, getting a reasonable AI is a major barrier but it isn't impossible. I have actually got enough respect for the Strategic Command AI to say I don't mind it. It gives me a run for my money at least.

Alas, games that support Hotseat mode are the ones that get me the fastest. But currently, there doesn't appear anything out there sufficiently "new" in concept to actually make me endure the cash burden (in my usual styles of game that is).

HTTR might just be "new" enough to be interesting enough to get me to try it.

Hey, remember, I tried EYSA eh. I like the game, my computer just isn't quite capable enough to make the experience satisfying enough. And that ain't the game's fault.
it's the same reason I have not bought Battlefield 1942. No point if my computer sucks at playing it. Pity, because the Vietnam release looks mucho amusing

Status: offline 		Les, HttR's AI will give you at least as good as opponent as SC's does. And I do believe Battle HQ is the LAN server support for HttR that you refered to. Go for it, you won't be sorry. This game(HttR) has given me an exceptionally good distraction as I wait for cWiF, SC2, Battlefields, WaW, SR2010 etc., so much so that I'm having second thoughts about my patronage of the aforementioned games.

I like getting good input from people I can relate to, it helps.

I was sold on the game back when it was Red Devils, but cash for new wargames has had to weather some rough times hehe.
