Mafi's latest 5CC map editor has support for Panthers in the Fog maps.  I believe you can get the latest version here:

Thanks for the link

Also,
1.Where does a person get the Terrain Elements data (specific to PitF) that 5CC requires for editing elements?
2.Is 5CC compatible with Windows 8?

thanks

Hi David,

5CC should run on Windows 8, but I haven't tried it myself.

You should be able to use the "Last Stand Arnhem" elements data for coding Panthers in the Fog maps as the element indexes are identical.

On the subject of map editing, and with an eye to the future, should we be learning about new and unfamiliar programs:

The current plan is to have an integrated map editor next time around.  But like all things aspirational and a long way out, it is subject to change. ;)

That would be superb, if possible.

I've been looking at the videos on YouTube concerning the existing map editing facility in Unity3d. Has anybody figured out how you would take your common-or-garden Ordinance Survey map and turn it into a Unity3d (and therefore next-generation Close Combat) map?

Something tells me I have the wrong approach. Maybe we'll just go to Google Maps, press a couple of buttons and a sizeable chunk will appear on the combat map.

"Armored Brigade" is not a million miles away from Close Combat in overall concept and look at what their community has been up to: http://www.armoredbrigade.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=333

Sort of? I did not read through the whole thread on that other forum, but our current plan is to have the ability to import gray-scale elevation bitmaps into the editor, as a way to terrain heights. It will not be as simple as pressing a couple of buttons on Google Maps, though.

Don't worry. That suggestion was tongue-in-cheek.

How about a Strategic map editor.

I'm tired of having the same style of Strat for the last 3 releases... push, push, push... no flair.

Wacht am Rhein gave you much more discretion.
