Just wondering if there are any Free French Admirals in the game. I formed a TF in OZ which included the Free French Destroyer Leader Le Triomphant and one of the Admiral choices offered for the TF was EFV Deschineaux (not sure of the spelling cause I'm at work but that's pretty French looking ). In any case using that spelling I couldn't find anything out about the guy so I figured to fire off a quick question here.

Thanx in advance

Maybe it's Descheneaux but can't find anything with that spelling either.

WHOEVER THIS GUY IS HE JUST LED A SMALL FORCE OF ALLIED CRUISERS AGAINST HALF OF THE COMBINED FLEET AND KICKED SOME SERIOUS A$$ CONSIDERING THE RELATIVE RATIO OF FORCES (unlike Nelson he survived too). SORTA WANT TO GIVE CREDIT WHERE IT IS DUE IN THE PBEM AAR.

Of course a name like that may be Canadian or U.S., as well..We are both pretty much "melting pot countries"..
Why...I've even had entire U.S. fleets commanded by Lt Tanaka !!

I don't think he ever shows up as eligible to command a US only fleet though so I'm sure he's not US.
Maybe someone could check the data base (like I said I'm at work now) though I don't know if nationality is listed there.

Dechaineaux was the captain of the cruiser HMAS Australia. He is an Australian leader (but no admiral, seems that CA Australia was your flag ship).

Hi, Captain Emile Dechaineaux, he died as a resul of wounds sustained in a kamikaze attack on HMAS Australia in 1944. He should be a Cpt not an Admiral.

I'd love to see an example of the small TF beating up on the big TF due to the KUNG FU movie factor. Please post the report. Thanks.

Hi, I'm amazed. Here we have a feature that benifits the use of smaller TF compared to the mass herd and Ron is against it? I've yet to notice this resulting in players using smaller TF to "exploit" it.

Ron S "That rat has taken up sending 4 ship surface combat TF and my 25 ship TF are helpless against them"

(note 4 ship TF are destroyed by 25 ship TF regardless of Kung Fu)

I'm not against people using smaller TFs! LOL I'm just commenting on the current model's tendency to trade shots between ships one to one so that regardless of the disparity in ships, the same volume of fire is exchanged by either side. Like Kung Fu movies where the mass of bad guys always go after the one good guy one at a time, negating their numbers and allowing the outnumbered good guy even terms.

Ron's post reminds me that I'd like to see naval combat use some sort of ops points in each round as well. After all, a round of combat must be a certain amount of time, right? My feeling is that each gun on each ship should only be able to fire a certain number of times in a round of combat, no matter how many ships have targetted the ship. It seems like Ron believes that this is not happening.
