Check out Joel Billings or Gary Grigsby (or Keith Brörs for that matter) on Wikipedia or just Google their names......we are in the company of greatness.....and SO unpretentious!

Hey Christian did you leave any of those smileys for me, damn you were too greedy now what can I do?

I think I have played quite a few of SSI games, Battles of the Atlantic, Clash of Steel and Panzer General series among the best.

Ooh Gary, WIR got me stuck in front of the screen for hours on end, awesome game.
When a wargame is signed be Gary I'm pretty sure it won't dissapoint anyone, not me at least.

(luckily I found these ones)

I think for most people it is no shock since they know the names and the story behind it

By the time he reached junior high, he discovered that wargamers were a minority. There was no one to play against. In desperation, he joined the school chess club, taught its members wargames, and started his own wargame club. "I had to create the opponents by getting them interested."

But Joel's family moved and when he started high school, he was back to square one. So he began playing by mail. At one point, he was playing nine games simultaneously in two different tournaments.

I had the same problem as Joel and I guess that all wargamers fans around the world have asked themselfs: where the heck can i find an opponent?

I would have loved to play Avalon's Hill Russian Front against someone else rather than myself.

I still have the hope to see that game in pc format, please it has been done let me know how and where I can get it.

Luckily, nowadays we have the internet and the opponents wanted section, so it's easy to find someone to play with.

I've played with fellows as far as Hong Kong or Alaska, real cool.

But, hey, I still haven't come across any player from Spain. Where are you guys? Am I the only one here?

Edited: some spelling.

I've always had the want but never the means to play others online.

Timezone's are a killer too. :(

Oh and congrats to the boys.

That's what PBEM is for. Only a limited connection is needed, and you play when you want and have the time.

Dear lord that's what PBEM stands for......I feel stupid, I thought you must have been playing online in some room somewhere.

I'll have to look into this a bit more.

Oh and who has played Pacific General?? Talking about SSI, I always wanted to get that but I couldn't afford it at the time and then I lost my chance and I always kinda wondered what it was like(big fan of Allied General-one of the first computer wargames I ever got). I knew that you could fight battles in Australia, which I thought was cool.

I'll assume that you're not joking and say: "PBEM = play by email".
- also known as "the means for amazing suspense, great victories and humiliating demises".
