Carriers At War is an SSG product.

2x3 will be using an updated Carrier Strike engine to add to their Uncommon Valor Deluxe that they are working on. I also think that they are planning a separate release also.

Both CAW and Carrier Strike were great games; I reckon I'll just have to buy both of them once again.

I don't think any new version of Carrier Strike is being planned.
I am surprised that so many gamers are unaware these are two seperates games on the same topic.

Actually, something appears to be in the works in this regard:

Carrier Strike with quite good at the time. Never really liked many of the SSG games. Found SSI was a bit more of a polished product. IMHO.

I remember playing a game (don't remember name) where you were given a
bomb-site view when the planes were bombing ships (carriers included).
You would see the bombs hitting the ships or making a round splash near them.
Could this have been "Carrier Strike" or maybe another game? It was definately
in the WW2 area....

Hi,

Carrier Strike by SSI gave you a top down view of the air attacks on both Task forces and land targets showing bomb strikes and torpedo hits ( you heard the torpedo enter the water and then waited for an explosion )

I bought and played both Carrier Strike and Carriers at War.  They both had plusses and minuses.  In CS I liked the control that you could exert over the ordnance that you a/c carried and how you could determine the strike makeup. The graphics and how the TF's moved, however, left alot to be desired. And you couldn't control ground based a/c. However, I used to have a little program that I got form the web where you could import battles from Pacific War into C Strike and then play them out. You couldn't transfer the results, but it was fun to play.

CAW was chocked full of graphics (so much so that I had to go buy a new graphics card for my old PC) but the game just seemed to fly by alot of the time without much really happening. Just the same, a few years ago I bought the Super Duper Ultimate Deluxe CAW and played it quite extensively. The graphics were still great and I had tons of fun with the editor, something else C Strike was lacking.

I liked both games and I hope that htis new CAW has something new features that add to the gaemplay and is not just a rehash of the original.
