I have my HQ starting on an island in a random game. How do I get him off of it and onto the mainland?

He doesn't seem to want to board a cargo ship and its not a matter of capacity since he only has 10 staff with him. Even a 2nd HQ that I crated refuses to get aboard a ship. Hmm.

How many supply have these HQs? Supply weighs more than one might believe.

Hadn't considered that, about 900 supply points. However, it does not explain why I cannot load the brand new HQ I just created. Or do I have to wait a turn after I create him for him to be capable of doing anything?

As I recall you can load a unit with no AP but can not unload one with out AP. Though that might be wrong. You may need AP for both actions.

Yes, normal units will load, but HQ's refuse.

You don't by chance have aircraft or cargo ships in any of the HQs do you?

Have you transfered any forces into the HQ? Empty units cannot move or be loaded.

Check the weight of the HQ versus the carry cap of the cargo ship unit.

Probably the supply points stored in the HQ makes it to heavy.

note: You can manually ditch supply by click on the supply points.

kind regards,
Vic

If you click on the circled box in the top leff you can ditch supplies...

The box on the bottom right shows the weight of the unit.

IRONCROM, what exactly does the L:385/289 represent?

It appears one should go to every single box on every single screen and click on it just to see if it will tell you anything.

Something about these information boxes in the manual would have been nice.

I'm sorry... let me correct myself.

The box on the left shows the total weight of the unit that you will need to know if you are going to transport by sea...That's the one Vic is refering to.

The box on the right shows the land carring capacity and the land weight.
If you look at the subformations to the right you will see I have 1 truck providing 20 carry points and 1 AC providing 5 carry points. that accounts for the number on the left.
There are 25 Rifle formations in the unit which accounts for the 25 land carry weight. Which is the number on the Right... 25/25... The units is fully moterized having enough land carrying capacity (25) to haul the land carrying weight (25)

Now for a Naval unit those numbers will have an (N) in front of them instead of an (L).
same principal applys as the example above... The number on the left would be the carrying capacity of the Naval fleet( probably 50 per Naval transport).

Soo you would actually need a Naval transport fleet with 2 transports in it to haul this unit over seas since it has a weight of 55...2 tranports will give you a carrying capacity of 100. (50 per transport)

Ok... Now I'm really gonna confuse you. The wgt number on the left circled in green does not include the any additional weight that excess supplies could be causing. But the values on the Right circled in red will show that.
If this unit were an HQ with 25 staff it should only have a land carry value of 25. But if the HQ also was holding onto a 1000 supplies then that land carry weight might be 125...( 125 is just a guess )
That is one way to tell if the HQ is holding enough excess supplies to affect its weight.

IRONCROM, Sloooowly coming into focus.

If I have a single combat unit with a transport weight of, say 75.  I'll be able to load that onto a 2-cargo ship unit without breaking the combat unit into two smaller units to micro fit them to the 50 weight per cargo ship requirement?

10 supply points = 1 weight point?
