Hey CitizenX,

I pick the time and date, you pick the side.

How about April 45, Brits vs Ger

As this is your 1st game, we allow the AI to pick units. I set up 3000 points each side 2 airstrikes enabled both sides. We may not get any Airstrikes with Random weather and Random Map. Fast Artillery Off. C&C off Rarity off. This way we will not have to worry about too much arty or missing something that we should have bought. It is a dice toss what we get and we have to make the best of it. If something weird happens like all infantry or all tanks we can re-boot.

Your comments before I set up.

:) I'll take the Germans since you said you like the Brits.

Your Choices Sound Good To Me

 Sorry C-X. The coputer wouldn't buy units like solitare play. I've done my purchase. They are in the zip file. When you unzip it to the email folder it will show as email3 and slot in load save. You purchase your units and enter your password. You will need it to deploy which you will do before you send it back. I will deploy and play the first turn. remember to set your gold=spots for arty and set objectives for any infiltrators before you close deploy. You can't do it later.

Some things that I picked up by reading the forums and purchase restrictions that I'm asking for to make it a balanced game.
1. 8 arty tubes max. This is a small game 2800 points after HQ is paid for. i.e. 1 battery = 4 tubes usually. Brits have 2 tubes per section of mortars. Germans only one. Germans get more sections but same number of tubes. Off map is ok.

2.1 platoon of infiltrator max. 4 section or squads These are commandoes or special forces.

3. No prepositioned mines. Engineer laid mine after turn 0 are ok.

4. You should be able to buy 1 air strike section. If not, I'll start over. I could buy, I checked, but that does not mean that you must buy.

I usually set up a games zip folder on the desk top just so its easy to find. Take special care buying. This is a battle in itself that I was hoping to get around with computer buy. It is important that you are prepared for anything that I throw at you. Make sure that you have an FO. In a small game 1 is usually enough with the HQ as back up. Make sure you have some AA. In a pinch you can shut down the main gun on a tank so that the commander can man the AAMG in the copsule(sp?) He cannot aim the big gun and the AAMG at the same time.

Above all, do not under estimate a human opponent. Do not expect straight head attacks. Humans: flank attack, circle, faint attack and withdrawl, They will blitz one area and ignore another. They will attack and then smoke for defence. They will smoke and approach behind it. Use combined arms, air, arty, infantry and lastly tanks. The AI can only go straight ahead.

Now that my lecture is done. I hope don't take offence to it. I am new to this format but not new to PBEM.

Happy Hunting:)

One last hint that I have fallen prey to. When you do your set up remember that your opponent can see your kick off line and will often lay a heavy barrage on the most advantageous spots for a quick advance. i.e the road down the middle of the board. If you stack them deep on that line you are taking a big chance. Especially if you are player#2.

Happy Hunting :)

We didn't discuss which format of SPWaW. I just thought of it now. I did the set-up in 7.1 and you have been looking at H2H. You are likely to get a currupted file message if you try to open in H2H.

:o

The files worked just fine.

An opening salvo of medium mortars and heavies big enough to put divots in the road.:D Nothing like road divots to slow down traffic. Smoke pops in random spots around the board some in weird places. Even some on the GE side of the board. No air strikes yet. It ain't fair to spot with planes on the pre-bombardment and them punch them up with arty on the first turn. Watch where your walking CitX. You might be stepping in it.

Your opening barage was very pretty. Keep that up and the local road crews will never have a slow season. I'm sure the wildlife will enjoy the new watering holes as well.

What comes around goes around :D

I'm having trouble uploading the file so bare with me. I'll try
again when I get up in the am

Still can't attach the file. PM me your email and we will have to trade it that way. We can still use the thread to keep our public informed;)

That's very interesting. I've never tried it, but I'll have to give it a go and see how it works. Thanks for the tip.

The Brits capture Victory Hex after Victory Hex. Count'em 13 in all. Where you at CitX? I'ma gonna sit back with the kettle on for spotta.

A little arty came in where I wasn't. Pity. 4 Hummels and some 81mm. I'm still missing 2 tubes of your allotment. They must have been moving. By the way thanks for the instant fox holes. I'll use them when we make contact:p

You must think that I have smoke to spare. I got lucky with the loads. Sometimes its for a set-up, sometimes its for show. Also, I don't like seeing those *'s on my guys. You'll see a few soon.

:D Looks like you took 1 casualty from my redlegs. I see several AT inf and a recon veh or two. I engaged an AT Inf with some AAA just for giggles and grins to let you know I was still out there.

Scouts spot an AT gun mounted on a halftrack and try to wound the duck from a distance. The 37mm is not up to the task and doesn't scare the target a buttons worth.

The short barreled 37 on another scout tries the same on a patrol running at full clip towards the north hill. They duck, he misses. Its like sling shots at 50 paces.

A couple of units do a little re-tracing of steps to catch a breather. But the kettles still on if you want a cuppa, its near ready. Come on over. I might have a tea-cake or two as well.

Same Bat-targets same bat-times.

This time the duck is wounded and the recon unit loses a man. No real damage.

Watch the time, we only have 11 turns but its still early.

I moved,

I saw,

I succesfully engaged,

A British AT Inf will no longer play.

I'm coming, I'm moving

Do not be dismayed

Believe it Churchill

The German war machine is on its way

:D :D :D

Your bird did some damage to one of my tanks but don't know how much. To the North with armor its going to be a duel.

Bring your hotdogs. There are plenty of fires to go around.

It appears that those sexy cats are no match for British wile and daring. 4 armoured car distract the beasts while Piat units dispatch two of them. Two more fall to TDs hidden hull down in the rough.

Those pesky armoured cars appear every where and harass a Tracked 75 pak and Flamepanzer until ground troops can close to the assault assault. The Brits are puzzled by the lack of infantry support for the armour but are pleased with the results.

It looks like the Buzzards will again be on the field well after the battle is done.

Unless.......... Joe Cool shows up.
