This scenario has been underway for some time - in essence meeting engagement in the north african desert between the forces of Italy and those of Britain. No Air, 10% Arty.

Up to now VikingNo2 has the upper hand - he has all but my rear VHs in his possesion and is dominating the battlefield with well placed tanks and AT guns and by dominating the 2 central heights.

The Brits are fighting well in parts. Throwing men into the northern sector may relieve some of the tension in the center/south.

I will let Viking give you his take on this - he has far more experience than me so I am trying to pick tactics and hints off of how he plays!

We are three or four turns in, the situation is fairly good for the boys from Italy now but RobWs matildas have not reached the front, but they will soon those are going to very difficult to stop. For not playing the Desert very offten RobW is doing well. His tanks outclass mine but I do currently have the better ground for now;)

My forces are in a war of attrition, trading shots with the well positioned enemy. I manage to destroy 2 ATRs in the North and capture VHs in the center - nothing else to report

VHexes change hands. In the north I am slowly forcing my troops forward ikn the face of oppressive fire. In the south there is too much smoke for me to risk advancing at the moment.

This action is degenerating into a stalemate around the vertical center. No major movement of forces just trading shots to try to force a breakthrough

I seemed to have inspired the Italains, several tank kills coupled with sevral AC kills made this a good turn, capture most of the vhexs back. The only bad note Matildas are getting to the front and I got a sound of things to come plunk....plunk....plunk. Lets see if I can get some Flame squads close

Back to you my good man.:D

The desert grinder continues to role. Men and tanks move forward but are replused. The north is where most of the action is currently happening so I am reorganising in order to counter the expected main thrust in the south or center.

RobW is being quite crafty, with the truck movement that has been spotted, multiplr 2lb AT guns have been set up just on the other side of the smoke line, Arty is currently reloading so any assault will have to wait a turn or two.

Killed two of those Matilda Mansters and trying to isolate those hidden AT guns, acouple of other tanks die as well I lost some vehicles to some of those AT guns .:(

At last a decent round for me - managed to take out 4 of his tanks - in payment for 2 of mine!!! I think it may be time for a tactic rethink - perhaps I should call on monty for more forces

Reinforcements have been called for - I hope they can get here before I am anihilated! In the south I manage to destroy a tank destroyer. The center sees 1 tank taken out by an interpid bunch of sappers - the VC medal for their sergeant I think. In the NOrth I am still pushing but am making no real headway.

The northern flank is becoming a bloodbath. The smoke is allowing him to move his forces up to counter anything I can get near him. 2 Matildas are still fighting and have dislodged some of his forces. In the south I am waiting to see what comes out of the mist - I am certain he is about to launch some sort of assault in that area and am trying to marshall enough of my depleted forces to repel him.

Are you playing the same game - I am sure you claim to have killed 8 Matildas when I only had 4.

In the North I continue to waste men in the smoke. There must be a way out soon.

In the center I manage to kill 1 ATR unit - thats all!!!

in the south I force 1 ATR to retire

My forces are still bogged down on the front line. In the south the appearance of masses of smoke pressages an imminent Italian attack. I just hope I can defend the hard won gorund and some how force a break through
