Not an AAR, just a summary of the game to date. We are well into 1940, Italy has just declared war on Greece and Malta fell on the 2nd turn of overwhelming attacks by Axis air power and a paradrop.

The game has been a bit unusual for several points. The allies have done a tremendous amount of research but no diplomacy at all to date. As a result the Axis have hit the USA 3 times and it is down to 5%. Yugo has been hit twice (once for 23%) and sits at 82%. I decided to try the USA instead of USSR for a change and am pleased with results to date.
BPINisBACK took no negative actions re USSR diplomacy except for the attack on Finland and got to 38% quickly which may impact the Axis assault which will likely be close to the historical timeframe.

The battle for France ended in late June. Germany took fairly heavy losses due to aggressive assaults but no units were lost. GB, surprised by the fact all German tanks had mobility was caught napping and lost a corps, an HQ, their SB and an army (out of supply). We will see how this impacts the mid-game.

The convoy wars have been very muted and the German CA was killed rather quickly as it tried to sneak into the Med. Reports of U-boat crew sunbathing in Sicily have been noted by Allied intelligence.

Finally, the Middle East is the new phoney war. Italy has still not crossed in and no Brits have been seen near the border. Ominously, the British fleet is MIA and Mussolini is nervous.

Hi Yohan and everyone!
Spring 1941 is close to end and the situation is this:
Since winter 1940 US is out of game as Diplomacy put them at 0%!!! So any MPP was collected during this monts.
On the other hand, Yohan tried to get Yugoslavia also by Diplomacy but it failed. At the end, the allies could force the cup.
I think that it would be worst if the Diplo action was over Soviets more than over the Yankees.
Italy declared war on Greece but their advance was sooooo slowly that after some months the Greeks still defend about the 50% of their motherland (with no direct support from the English).
Afrika was quite calm untill the last two turn were the axis and italians have arrived to my big lines of fortifications at the south and east of El Alamein.
Sub war is going well. Only three german subs were disturbing our convoys. They are being watched by RN. Our subs are hunting a lot at the norht of Denmark!
Allies are quite optimistic. Let's see how it is going after the first turns of war in Russia.
I am enjoying this game, Yohan seems to play "alternative" as me... That's Funny! :)

who's winning?

Hi,

The game is at August 1942.

Axis (Yohan) has conquered Moscow, Leningrad is about to fall this summer. Leningrad could hold this year (i hope so).

Spain joined (by diplomacy) in Spring, 1942.

Regarding the technology. Germans are not too much advanced (Yohan has spent a lot of MPP in diplomacy). For example, tanks are level 2.

Africa is British but there are some fight in Algeria - Tunnis right now. I hope to control that area in the following turns.

The sub fight has been quite "low". There were some raiding but not massive. Axis has lost some ships (WA too, but they have a lot).

Allies are trying to diplo but unsucessfully for many months. :'(

Then, at present, Axis are in a good position. But if i can hold Stalingrad for 1942 i think i have chances to CA very soon. The main point is if the soviets can face the full wermatch.

Let's see...

Good day, war report from Axis High Command -dated April 1944

This has been an interesting game and the longest tournament game I have played.

Middle East - Allies pushed Germany to the Moroccan border. As Spain entered the war the CA began (after thrashing some pesky American troops and TAC in the Casablanca area. The Axis are now all the way back to Tobruk yet seeing signs of large scale troops and forts in the approaches to Alexandria and Cairo. Will I be able to close the Med?

Scandinavia - The Allies have launched a full scale assault on Norway and are mopping up the few remaining garrisons. After Finland initially took out Murmansk it has now been retaken and the USSR is driving hard to regain Leningrad and eliminate the pesky Finns. Germany is rushing reinforcements to support Army Group North. It looks like Sweden will soon join the Allies (as have the Saudis)

USSR - Germany was driving on the oil fields of Baku but under heavy pressure relented and is now carrying out a fighting withdrawal to Rostov. Stalingrad was very heavily defended and thwarted all efforts. USSR is now pushing back in the centre. Moscow remains in German hands.

Italy - is not currently under threat and is shoring up the invasion defense. The Balkans also remain fully under Axis control.

France - the Allies have landed many troops and seem to have withdrawn some as well as taking some losses from German counter-attacks (you have to love Heavy Tanks)

The Sealanes - the convoy wars were indeed muted this game. German believes it has been well-served by its U-boats in the sinking of many troop transports, some of them unescorted!

I will try to post the losses in my next movement.
I was very close to loose the game but... the german didn't focus on Russia... he fought on Africa (Algeria and Morocco) and also some other minor areas.
I think he spend too much MPP on diplomacy. Yss, he got Spain, but no anything else.
I was lucky to destroy two german HQ when Yohan tried to attack Stalingrad (from the end of 1942 to the end of 1943). Yohan instead of a direct assault on Stalingrado tried to attack from the north of the city. But, furthermore, he send some troops (and the majority of the Luftwaffe) to the Caucasus (he even conquer Grozny)... but, on the other hand, i could hold Stalingrad and receive more and more troops.
Germany had the 49% of the troops in the late's 42, now it has "only" a 43%. Russia has more than 90 units (all the tanks). I am getting close to Rostov from both Caucasus and Stalingrad.
My expedition on France was a disaster but i bought some extra time for Russia.
My campaing bombing was "so-so"... At the end the wester allies are lossing a lot of MPP but, as i said, this allowed to the Soviets to build a huge army which is now at the gates of Leningrad with the Finish under heavy pressure...
Let's see... Germany has a very much powerfull luftwaffe and a large army but... Let's see.

Quick update.
Late August.
Western allies move back to France after a heavy air campaing which kills two german luftflottes. Britanny is under allied control and no significant enemy units appears in range.
Finland is moving back, but very slowly.
After heavy efforts soviets conquer Volhkov and get closer to Leningrad. German resistance is very tenacious.
At the south of Russia, Germans and Soviets hits each other with almost all they have. Soviet loses are hugue, but germans cann't go forward either. Rostov was conquered by soviets but quickly reconquered by Germans.
Egypt are under British control. Axis never tried to conquer it after they arrive close to El Alamein.
More than 4.000MPP were lost by german in the last two turns. I think Axis gets 1.400 mpp/turn. Allies gets: 1.900 (950 by Soviets)
I think that Axis needs winter...

interesting game!
I wonder how long the Germans can hold the positions. The Russian steamroller gains speed and won't stop anymore. Russian Units are equal strong now but much cheaper. Since you say the Germans are retreating slowly I assume that you can kill at least 1 German unit for every Russian unit.

What do you guess? Can the Axis hold the major cities for a minor victory?

Hi!
We have been fighting in the Stalingrad area for a year or maybe a bit long...
As i said, Germans instead of focus on the city, also attacked the Caucasus and had to send some forces to France and Africa. Futhermore, the russian lines in Stalingrad were quite wide and powerfull so the losses were huge (both sides).
At the end, Germany can't fight everywhere, as we know and little by little they were retreating until Rostov line (German loses were 1 - 3 units per turn, usually the tanks, soviets losses were over 5 units a turn).
Wester allies loses were even high because the german CA at Normady heavily. I was thinking that i would loose the game if the germans focused on WA planes... but not...
I have to say that it seems that Yohan didn't know that the game won't finish in 1945.
Of course, if the game always finish in 1945 i would play in a different way.
At present (June 1945) Leningrad and Moscow will fall in two or three turns and German lines (south) are located at Ukranie. In France, WA have lost a lot of units but they hold a lot of new armies at Normady. We will CA very soon.
German loses are... incredible. Over 3.000MPP per turn.
I think that Germany will capitulate in 1946 (maybe before the summer). I hope so! It depends on how Yohan handle his forces (he has a lot of units yet).
