In a PBEM game my opponent decided to concentrate on building and upgrading subs almost exclusively. To a very large degree he was successful; although I was victorious in North Africa and invaded Sicily, my invasion of Italy was a disaster. The Germans moved three subs into the Med, all upgraded to 3, and devastated my fleet. I've lost count of the number of battleships he's sunk. Granted, I made some mistakes, it was my first time playing the Allies. When I play the Allies again I intend on investing in Anti-sub research immediately. However, I'm skeptical this will work due to the slow pace of the this type of research.

Any thoughts, comments and/or criticisms are welcome.

Torpedo boats, naval bombers, balloons, escort carriers, asw., what else do you want?

I wouldn't say ASW is the top priority for Brits/US but its important. Anti air for Brits is probably the top priority initially.

You can also invest two chits in ASW to catch up quicker.

Subs with equal research vs ASW dive at 40% (+20%/-20% for each differential).

The key is to get sub supply to 0 if possible then they don't dive are are easy to take out.

As mentioned there are many anti sub units, I would say the Maritime bomber is one of the best. Long Range & two shots & cheap.

Once you get a Maritime bomber up to 3/4 ASW they are lethal.
