Display of Air Losses For Attacks on CVs

Status: offline 		We think that in our PBEM game when air units conduct an attack against naval groups with CVs that the air lost by the CVs is not shown on the combat log but does show when you click on Battles.

I did a hot seat test using the 1941 scenario. I moved the Victorious within range of a German bomber in North Africa. I then did a naval attack with it on the Victorious naval group. First of all it is my understanding that no matter what mode the aircraft on a CV are set to (i.e. attack ground, naval etc.), one third of the air on the CV will automatically be on CAP. In this specific attack the following was displayed.

Battles: Fliegerkorps Losses: Air 2

7 Ships with 1CV, 3BB, 1CA
Losses: Air: 4 Damage: 0 Sunk: 0

Combat Log: Axis Attacking Naval Air Strike
II Fliegerkorps 2

Defending Ships - It lists all 7 ships by name
Defender Losses - No losses

I checked the Victorious and it was down to 8 air from 10 so if the Battles tab is accurate indicating a loss of 4 air for the UK then they must have lost 2 from land based air that came up to defend the CV.

I find it odd that in the combat log the air losses for the UK are not shown. Or is this the case for solo and hotseat only with losses showing in PBEM?

Status: offline 		I just did another hot seat test and the air losses for the defender indicated by clicking on the Battles tab is different than what shows in the combat log by 1. Battles says the defender lost 5 but the combat log losses total 4. The 4 matches the loss es of the single UK fighter based in North Africa that was in range of the CV. It was a 12 strength before the naval air attack and was a 8 after. In this test the CV, this time the Ark Royal did not suffer any air losses as it is still showing 10 air.

It also makes me wonder if any of the air from the Ark Royal were on CAP. They were set to naval attack mode.

My friend is going to do some hot seat tests too. Since we are both planning to buy War Plan Pacific where there are going to be a lot more naval air combat I hope that if this is a bug that it is not a bug in that game too.
