5/3/41 Vis.28 Sandstorm 1300 Hours: We are ordered to advance against the Italians at Michili. All 3 front objectives are overlooked by 3 hills.
The north flank will consist of 3 platoons of infantry backed up by 1sec light tanks. 2 secs of matildas and 1 sec Cruisers with 1 sec portees. They are to lead off as they have the roughest sector to move thru. At the same time the southern flank consisting of 1 platton of engineers and 1 platoon of infantry supported by 1 sec matildas and 1 sec cruisers and 2 sec portees are to jump off.

The center section will hold off till turn 3 soas to have both flanks siphon off some of the force from the middle. They will consist of 1 platoon of engineers with 2 platoons of infantry. They are supported by 3 sec matildas and 2 sec of cruisers plus 2 sec portees. They also have 1 sec light tanks Vics.

The southern flank has taken the heights over looking the objective by turn 4. They have inflicted heavy casulties on the enemy so far. Several belinda and sro have been destroyed. Plus numerous squads have had heavy losses and some wiped out. Several Commandos armored units have also been destroyed. We have suffered very mild casualties so far. A portee and 1 Matilda. They have also lost several transport units with there troops on board.

The northern units have reached the western slope of there hill. They have begun to move up the heights. No oppositon there so far. Our Bufors AA has begun to get into positon and have inflicted several hits at long range on there armor.

I have not moved the center units up to there hill as yet. Am holding off to see if the Italians divert any armor or troops to the south or north.

Our heavy Arrty has inflicted heavy losses on the enemy with interdiction fire in the backfield. The 25 pounder troop off board has been out of contact mostly ever since we jumped off. If you could get them off there rears sir we could use them now.

So far the battle has gone as planned. But we have only saw mostly light armor. I am sure they must have some heavier stuff. As soon as our scouts report back to me i will let you know.

Commander British Force: Sir Nick Beal

The north VH are ours already. The south will be in our hands real soon. 2 of the south cluster are. This is where the heaviest fighting is going on. A large colum of tanks has been destroyed there. Although the north in comparison has been lightly attacked. It too had a small colum of tanks attack there.

It seems my tatic of holding off the middle attack until the north and south were engaged, has worked very well. Evidently when i took the north and south VH it pulled a lot of the enemys forces there.

The middle sector has just begun to climb the west side of the hill overlooking there objectives. They so far have met next to nothing in enemy strenth. We will know soon enogh after they crest the hill and look down on there objectives. The north and south have fired on a couple of tanks moving to the center. But not much there besides some Motercycles and transport trucks. Which have been destroyed from long distance by north and south fire.

We have had some losses but not like last month against the germans. Thank heaven for this. Maybe after this battle we will have a couple of months off. This will give us time to repair and upgrade some equipment maybe. We should get some replacements for our men too. The battle last month really depleted our strength for this one.

The enemy has started to retreat already. There is wide spread panic and a mad scramble to get away. Our bombardment of the rear VH has resulted in heavy losses for them. The only problem is our guns are already depleting there supply of ammo. I will have to lift the constant harrassment of them very soon. We will very soon have all the front objectives and begin our move on the rear ones.

Here is to a speedy finish to this battle and to the war. I would sure like to be home in Manchester with my family and friends. Ive been fighting since early 1940 and here it is already the middle of 1941. This madness surely cant last much longer.

Commander Royal British Forces: Nick Beal

This is goin to be an easy battle. My losses are very low. It has really been a turky shoot. My 2 pounder were totally ineffective against the german armor. But the Italian armor mostly have been tin cans. The 3 inch howitzer literally splits them open like sardine cans. There infantry has been blown to pieces by our off board arrty. In there hurry to retreat they congregated around the rear VH. My 8 inchers tore them up before they ran out of ammo.

A few brave tanks of there continue to fight. But it is useless against my crossfire. I have lost maybe five pieces of armor. Maybe up to about 20 men. We are about 600 yards from our final objectives. Any resistance we meet is quickly dispatched. The north and south flanks are closing the noose around stragglers and remnents of crews. I am letting my recon squads finish off the crews as much as i can.

The Italians are discarding equipment as they run. The battlefield is littered with the wrecked corpses of equipment. I am having trouble holding in my troops. They want to move faster then i want them too. After the last battle we had some equipment we did not get too repair. A few squads were short on replacements. I dont want too many losses and have to go into the next battle short again.

The battle is over already. A very easy one for the men. Very few casualties and small loss of equipment. The Italians were not very hard too fight. There tanks were no match for ours.

Our losses are as follows: Men69
AFV 5

There losses: Men 1287
Artty 14
Soft 16
AFV 65

The strategy of using right and left flanks to attack before the center worked all too well. As there force moved to counter our two flanks it left them open to the center fire. W eheld the center to the west side of a small hill until the two flanks were engaged. As our center came over the hill the enemy was spread out before them. Before they knew what was going on, it was too late.

We have been ordered to refit and do any upgrading. Our new orders are to move to Bic Hacheim. We are to set up a defense and to hold at all costs. We here the weather is really bad there right now. Vis is less then 200 yards. We will have time to lay in a strong mine field. Then just sit and wait for the germans to attack. If they are so inclined to do so. The 2nd and 3rd brigade are on our right and left. Actually our front will be rather small that we have to guard. At least we will have a month to prepare.
