When creating a new scenario is there a way of setting the experience of a unit to something other than "untried"?

Yes. See rule 18.10.2, in the manual.

I spoke too soon.
I have tried the "Unit Report" but there is no Toggle Button for Veteran/untried Status, I also looked at the Formation Report & sure enough the two buttons for Formation Orders & Emphasis are not there.

BTW The version of TOAW is 3,2,29,27, I presume this is the latest ?

Are you sure you're in the editor?

Are we talking about the same thing.
I am in "Game", clicked on the "Unit Panel, got "Unit Report. No Toggle button.
Ditto with the Formation Report.

You can't edit the scenario in the game! You have to be in the editor. Load the scenario in the editor & switch to deployment mode. Then go to the formation report & unit report.

Thanks again Curtis, I had tried in the Editor but couldn't find anywhere to get the Unit Report, never thought of looking in the Deployment mode. Not to sound like 'a bad workman always blames his tools' but the manual is not very clear concerning some points.
I have just un-installed & re-installed for the 2nd time & did it in the sequence that Vahauser in the sticky used but it hasn't solved the problem with BioEdit.
In Fact I found that on my PC "Matrix Games" is in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE".

You're in the editor, you go to 'deployment mode,' you bring up the unit report of the unit you are interested in, and you see if it has the 'untired/experienced' setting you want. If it doesn't, you go click on the little lightning flash thingie among the buttons down at the botom. Now it'll have the other setting.

Colin, yes I have already done that. I just didn't think it would be in 'deployment mode', I expected it to be in the 'Force Editor' so that you could set these things when creating the units. Just seem a strange place to put it to me.

Yeah. It took me a while to figure it out myself way back when. It's not obvious.
