If we negotiate it down to $3 million, and if we all kick in $400.00 each, I think we'd have enough to buy it.

And I think we have enough people to act as a crew.

Then all we would need is some tin-pot country to invade ;)

Yea, but there still is the issue of aircraft for the aircraft carrier.

Depending on your choice of suitable aircraft, that could be the expensive part.

HMS Vengeance, orginally. NAeL Minas Gerais in the Brazilian navy. And the Australians "borrowed" her in between.

Status: offline 		Per the link on the site the carrier is the HMS Vengeance. The last remaining WWII built British Aircraft Carrier, Per the link. She was commissioned on 12/16/1944. see http://www.fleetairarmarchive.net/vengeance/

Heck, even we retired the last of the Midway class carriers in the late 80's!

Maybe we can find some WWII era planes that still fly and use this old carrier as a test bed to settle some UV/WITP arguments on sinking carriers. :D

Hey the used carlot down the road picked up a MIG from the Russians for $50,000. With 6 MIGs and a carrier there must be dozens of countries we could conquer.

Status: offline 		Someone in England had exactly that idea. The "Save HMS Vengeance Society" or some such. The deal fell through (lack of cash). If we just sit tight and play coy we can get this ultimate party boat for a song.

I got to fly a professional space shuttle simulator once. The thing is basically a flying anvil. Landing it on a CV would result in disaster for the CV as well as the shuttle.

As for taking a shuttle off a CV deck - Bags not!!!!!

Best jobs on the HMLS (His Majesty Luskan's Ship) Vengeance would therefore either be LSO, CAG, or CO.

As CO I'd re introduce walking the plank, keelhauling and capital punishment for all PBEM game quitters!

Status: offline 		I was hoping the space shuttles might have better flying characteristics than their simulators. Maybe a simulator with buffalo wings might work. Either way, slinging one of the monsters from the catapult ought to discourage boarders.

We could even dress them up in those school girl sailor suits. You know, this could be the best idea I've had all year. But aah, don't tell my wife, okay.:cool:

Air power alone will not conquer anything - you need boots on the ground. So let's convert her into an LPH with a few Helos and a MEU (Matrix Expeditionary Unit) :D .

Status: offline 		Hi, Better to just clear out the hanger deck and make it a Casino with dancing on the flight deck. Set her on cement Blocks in some nice harbor. Install a couple hundred staterooms and you have a Hotel Casino.
