Raver decided to hunt down my Batlleships or transports and sent CV force sneaking near landing site.
I had small KB (all small CVLs however CVE without a/c complement )
This TF was heavily oriented on Zero protection and I hunted for surface combat forces trying to disrupt langing.
Battle is a draw - similar losses in aircraft is favouring Raver but I damaged both his carriers. I'm very low on Kates - had 48 and lost half of them + many damaged - 15 operational now- looks like I need to withdraw

I'm really proud of my supply situation
I managed to build up many a/c factories as well as engines and many armament ones - supply is relatively high in all major theaters as well as in Home Islands (60k in Tokyo)
During weekend I'll post some screens from my production
China is well supplied , Southeast fleet too, India landing site got 130k supplies etc.

My paras at Asanol holds enormous force for 3rd day- 18th Uk + 2 indian div against them
I'm securing Java by landing at Banjarmasin,Bali,Parmakasan,Lombok also time to finish Sumatra

First carrier battle and the brits did a half ok job. They chewed up his Kates but failed to put a fish into one of his carriers. Sneer did more damage than he thinks to my CVs, one has all of it's aircraft stuck on board because of the damage so if he decides to go-a-hunting the RN will be in some strife. I can only hope that the loss of so many kates will force him to retire.
Trying to winkle out those jap paras at Asanol is proving difficult and the Germans should be taking notes for Holland

Sneer trys again to sink the RN CV TF with no success. His attack is beaten back by the brave pilots of both the RNFAA and the RAF.

Huzzah ! Huzzah !

Now that you have firm foothold in India... Is it a possibility to invade the whole country?

depends
first I have to decide If i want to:
I have private house rule about taking whole India.
UK would never allow for this
it is gamey that UK & Indian army and fleet reinforcement are stopped after taking Karachi
Moreover Churchill after securing North Africa in 42/43 would send everything to recapture India.
1. If I capture ndia I would occupy city for no longer then 6 months then I withdraw 8- 10 hexes ( i.e Delhi) and truce is claimed for next 6 months to simulate probable shift of commonwelth effort
SO If I take Karachi I will get access to free supply for 6 months - consider it pillaging by Japanese troops. Also I will buy 1 year of truce in major land area.
Problem in this is that Karachi defenders are cut by map edge what is not true IRL.
As I wrote earlier it is aggresive game but points are not most important - I try to play " this war" best I can - don't be wrong - I don't want to play " historical simulation " I want to play "alternative war in the pacific" this means that I'll do my best but will not go for every "gamey" advantage.
On the other hand I asked Raver to not use 4E for ground units bombing as they are too deadly . We do our best to balance certain "features" of the game but still have enormous fun of "free" game

returning to question - As you see Karachi is not worth as much as it could be thought. I would have to commit all southern forces to take Karachi with its "free supply" occupying would tie down many units too. I would need to bring carriers to indian ocean what is not the best option as they are my Pacific defence. Please remember that there was no PH attack so whole US pacific fleet is intact and ready for making big mess - so my KB will go everywhere US carriers are -and they will stay in pacific hidden - Raver is too smart as allied player - I kicked him on my terms but doubt If I can force him to that all the time

east india are worth its effort - you get 6 4+ airfields + production of supplies + some Heavy industry in close area and best idea against allied air power in late war are mutally cooperating airfields - this is best defensive position on whole perimeter + don't forget - no air lift to China unless max range 4e bombers are used
Also you weaken allied troops by cutting off Burma and destroying some first line troops. ( 2 inf bde + rangoon force +5-6 base forces)

I have not decided yet
Either way it is win/win situation for me

loss of air battle caused Raver escape from Asanol even before my troops entered city
Raver was lazy and moved CL Sumatra northen way in range of my bombers

no problem
real problem is that both China and india are abstract
if I take ceylon - I'm tempted and I have means to do it I'll cut Raver off other bases - neither realistic not fair - similar with rest of India - there is no possibility there were no other troops there - lot of troops were organized for other theaters i.e N.Africa so they would stay - it is a gamey too to extent
I'd gladly read what Raver think about situation.
I don't mind adjusting game a bit

I can't imagine a quarter million army conquer and occupy so big country. also withdrawal of british fleet when Japan is present at Indian ocean is a bit silly.

Raver if you can post screenshot of CL Sumatra - will be interesting to see her after 26 bomb hits

continuous offensive against chinase resources
good news
neither of my fleet carrier is above 7 sys so new operation is commenced - maybe I'll meet some targets... maybe Raver will decide to counterattack ...maybe
...cruising and once again cruising ...
ships upgraded as scheduled no perturbances by now. supply situation excellent - I have large stockpiles everywhere- lot of oil and resources grabbed in captured bases - soon conwoys will be created to feed home islands. War machine works good - best example - I have below 30k manpower in pool in and it gooes down - troops are in good shape - new units are ready fast

Things are looking bad for the Allies. If Raver has any bright ideas, he'd better execute them soon. (Have you thought about the North Pacific?)

It really does seem like you could capture the India if you had chosen to do so... well, I think showing some mercy to the allied side on this matter in good for this AAR

Hopefully Raver is protecting his RN assets since I kind a have a feeling that Sneer got something up his sleeves

capturing India till the end is "gamey" - not only taking Karachi
I don't want to commit all forces to take out India of play.
And only reason that would justify such decision would be closing reinforcements in Karachi - since I decided it is "gamey" it is not preferable scenario
I would like to read "what if " kind of analysis from Raver
India can be taken so there is nothing to prove myself.

BTW there are not so many ships of RN in India
my estimation up to 3CA up to 3-4 CL and up to 5 DD
maybe 1 BB
2 damaged CV
RN was decimated in December in opening moves
not a real threat as 4BB/4CA are in region to keep them quiet + LBA

I doubt if Raver can have any bright idea - he can obviously raid any place he want but there is risk of getting damaged CV and in return sinking some of them or facing KB which is now hidden from his eyes.

I wish i went after russia but russian OOB is too strong in comparison to RL and ground combat is bugged unfortunately. India was second best choice. Australia third and Pacific fourth - anything out of historical eastern perimeter is far too far away. Australia nad pacific is too difficult to defend.

No matter the decision for India without air lift and Buma road China is doomed before end of 43
Also keeping east India prevents me from risk of early allied offensive in Burma at least till early 44 so historical outcome on this theater is possible. All I try to do is building up stronger industry / building up strong perimeter in places chosen by me.

Finishing of China is less gamey to me than India
without support from western allies and with stronger and better supplied Japanase forces it is more or less realistic -

pacific war started to secure resources to finish "china incident"
I think I can go with "historical political path"

I think that strong perimeter based on east India with China more or less neutralised can offer good game even in 44 as most Japanse troops were used on secondary from pacific point of view theaters

it would be strange to capture country so big with quarter million army
damn it is half of Europe + less than half of million in 3-4 months
completely unrealistic

I would like to thank my esteemed opponent for his views on the limitations of the map and therefore his work-around. IRL Churchill was ready to send whatever he could (and some units that he didn't have the right to move such as the Aussie 9th Div) to defend India, Churchill was after all a product of his enviroment and a staunch believer in the empire.

yes I seem to be in a lot of trouble at this point IF WE WERE PLAYING FOR POINTS but we are not and so I am striving to hit a balance between hurting Sneer while trading space for time and at the same time trying to preserve my units for the '43 counter assault, and it will be no earlier than '43 simply because the allies do not have much of anything to hit back with until then. In the mean time Sneer is stretching the boundaries of his new empire all of which must be manned and defended. I have an idea that Sneer will use his air units at forward bases as a "trip-wire" with his LCUs sitting back ready to be rushed in. Now he can't really do this in India as he has to keep contact (and also in China) but in the SWPAC and SOPAC and CENTPAC he can do this and how I am going to get around this is going to be interesting. I have a few ideas but nothing that I am willing to share here now.

So what am I going to be going until '43? Simple, try and survive ! But while the US and Aussie mainland is free of japs I will have at least two bases from which to launch my counter-attack.
