Well, it was horrible, but name three '70s TV shows that weren't...

Uhhhhh....

Combat!

probably 60s

Definitely 60's!!

Well, tastes vary, but possible second candidate is "All In The Family". i didn't watch it, but, hey, i didn't watch TV that decade...

Oops - correction!! IRWIN ALLEN had series on during that time (producer of Time Tunnel). Time Tunnel was only 1966-67.

and (i had to look this up) possible third candidate: Happy Days.

Saturday Night Live started in the 70s, and was actually pretty good back then...

Aaaah, SNL, now we're talking... Some of Belushi's stuff...

When Slaughtermoron did his little spam cavalcade the other day, I was reminded of an SNL sketch: "The Thing That Wouldn't Leave", about the final guest at a party that just WOULDN'T go home...

well, actually it went a lot like this:
Super Bass-o-matic '76

Spokesman ... Dan Aykroyd
Bass-Drinker ... Laraine Newman

Spokesman: How many times has this happened to you? You have a bass, and you're trying to find an exciting new way to prepare it for the dinner table. You could scale the bass, remove the bass' tail, head and bones, and serve the fish as you would any other fish dinner. But why bother, now that you can use Rovco's amazing new kitchen tool, the Super Bass-o-Matic '76. Yes, fish-eaters, the days of troublesome scaling, cutting and gutting are over, because Super Bass-o-Matic '76 is the tool that lets you use the bass with no fish waste, and without scaling, cutting or gutting.

Here's how it works: Catch a bass, remove the hook, and drop the bass - that's the whole bass - into the Super Bass-o-Matic '76. [drops the bass into the blender ] Now, adjust the control dial so that the bass is blended just the way you like it. [turns blender on and grinds it to a pulp ] Yes, it's that simple!

Bass-Drinker: [drinks a glassful of bass ] Wow, that's terrific bass!

Spokesman: We've got fish here, fast and easy and ready to pour, mmm-mmm! Super Bass-o-Matic '76 comes with ten interchangeable rotors, a nine-month guarantee, and a booklet: 1,001 Ways to Harness Bass. Super Bass-o-Matic '76 works great on sunfish, perch, sole, and other small aquatic creatures. [blends one of each ]

Super Bass-o-Matic '76 - it's clean, simple, and after five or ten fish, it gets to be quite a rush! Super Bass-o-Matic '76 - you'll never have to scale, cut or gut again!

Almost makes up for me being quote "A computer geek who likes to write textbooks on a stupid forum full of other geeks" unquote

I am a nerd...not a geek. There is a big difference.

The fact that I know that your screen name means "Victorious one" in Greek means that I am a wizz at useless trivia and thus a nerd. A geek would be someone who ran the projector in school (Ooops....I did that)

SNL also had the toy company that sold "Bag of broken glass" as a kid's toy.

They had one "commercial" of a slot car set. When you pressed a special button, the cars would burst into flame, and they had a special ambulance "meat wagon" to cart off the bodies.

Some time later, some one wrote into Anne Lander's advice column complaining of the "violent nature of toys for kids today" and described the "ad" precisely. Anne roundly condemned the toy makers. Now, what the viewer thought they were advertising kids toys after midnight i'm not sure, or perhaps he/she was having a bit of fun with Anne...

Last time i saw her, it sure didn't look like she did! She looked a lot older than 67...

EDIT: i am not the only one that thinks so. My wife was watching something on TV when she exclaimed and i saw turned and Ms. Rigg on the tube. My wife is an admirer of hers (and most of the characters she portrays) and was appalled and dismayed at how she looked.
