Status: offline 		-More air attacks on Kunming. The USA mercenaries changed their tatics. Now they are using Chinese I-16´s as baits in order to bounce the A6M2. This new tatic allowed them to shot down 4 Zeroes and 4 Ki-21 in two days, while losing 3 P-40´s and 6 I-16´s in A2A combat. Overall losses were 5 P-40 (2 destroyed in the ground), 7 I-16 (1 in the ground) and 1 Il-4 (also destroyed by the bombers). Japan lost 4 A6M2 and 6 Ki-21.

Status: offline 		Actual Hurricane losses were 4 planes. (all pilots safe) with a further 9 having made successful forced landings. Japanese losses were at least 25 aircraft destroyed including one of those pesky and elusive Ki-15's.

Meanwhile the recently salvaged USN carriers are scheduled to make another appearance off Rabaul. stay tuned!!!!

Status: offline 		In the last meeting of Navy HQ, Yamamoto argued that Nik is an allied fanboy and that the two carriers actually didn´t sink. What happened is that Nik changed the code of the program in order to allow the sunk ship screen to give false informations to the Japanese player. Yamamoto´s defeatism is causing significant distress among Japanese officials.

-Yes, Hurricanes were left alone in order to replace losses. Japanese pilots need them as target practice. Lots of air combat over China in the last two days, as Zeros from Mandalay joined the campaign against the AVG , flying sweep missions over Kunming. Heavy losses for both sides. IJN lost 6 Zeros and 4 Ki-21´s, while the USA mercenaries lost 9 P-40´s and the Chinese lost more 6 I-16 and 3 Il-4. Yamamoto has argued that the land based IJN units are suffering heavy losses in exchange for mediocre achievements and asked for the end of attacks against Kunming. Status: offline 		Foolish foolish Yammamotto is dispersing and using up his precious Zero pool attacking Army targets......NIH! 7 more naval sons of Nippon fell to AVG heavy MG fire. oh sure....we lost 9 planes in total, but we're fighting over our home turf. Few KIA's.

Status: offline 		-Significant activity from enemy air units was detected both in New Guinea and Burma. Most air combat happened over Mandaly where heavy enemy raids were successful in destroyed a number of Japanese aircraft in the ground, but lost at least 15 aircraft in the process. Meanwhile, enemy LBA based on PM pounded Lae again, causing moderate damage to the base instalations. Another raid against Japanese light surface combat units resulted in no damage to our ships...

Status: offline 		definately rethinking. Losses were not excessive over the base (2 Blenheim were shot down by intercepting type 0's) but on the way back 2 more Blenheims crash landed while attempting to land and had to be written off and one Lb-30 crashed just over the Burma-Indian border. 2 Buffalos were lost over the base with several more write offs while returning. On the bright side, flak resistance over Mandalay appears non-existent to negligable at this time. The primary difficulty appears to be the continued disperity in preformance with 67 squadron's tired old Buffalos being battered by nimble army type 0's.....with a few cannon armed type 0's thrown in. Morale has taken a bit of a beating but overall remains excellent. Our pilots and bomber crews have great fiber.

Status: offline 		-An unexpected defeat happened to the IJN, as a convoy of light surface units, known as "The Tokyo express", used for night supply runs in North New Guinea was attacked by enemy LBA in Lae, with the loss of a light cruiser. The event resulted in a furious clash between Tojo and Yamamoto. While Tojo called attention to the Navy´s covardice, in refusing to use major warships to neutralize PM and allow Lae to be supplied by transports, Yamamoto blamed the Army and the government for the poor management of logistics and for the resfusal to release additional supply to Truk, thus preventing continued fleet operations. He also pointed to the risk of surface operations in the range of enemy LBA. The "genius" that was commanding the transport fleet was summarily discharged from the navy for allowing supply unload to go on well after dawn, despite his orders to unload and depart before daylight

Status: offline 		London reported today that stage 1 for the re-conquest of Burma has been completed with the conquest of the critical base at Akyab. The Japanese did not even contest the move by 14th army troops which entered the town without loss.

Status: offline 		Lae bombed back to stone age again, Admiral Hara (a shipless commander until Shokaku is repaired) asked Yamamoto to send the Zeros from Shokaku and Zuikaku to defend Lae but his request was denied, levels of avgas in Lae are at very low levels and another Tokyo express run would be very dangerous. Meanwhile, new targets, eerrrr....Hurricanes, were detected over Akyab. LB-30´s were moved to China and attacked Nanning with minimal damage being inflicted to Japanese troops.

-Tensions between the Navy and the Army achieved new heights when Tojo managed to persuade Yamamoto to cede 2 Zero Daitais for another air offensive against Burma and Kunming. The ill planned offensive resulted in disaster as recently upgraded Ki-43´s still kept the maximum ranges of Ki-27´s. As a result, Oscars didn´t escort the planned raids, resulting in Zeroes being forced to fight the enemy at significant numerical disadvantage. No less than 22 Zeroes lost in two days, the total number of aircraft lost was 38, against 26 allied planes destroyed. Two Zero Daitais are now out of action. The Navy HQ retreated all Zeros to Singapore and vowed to stop any cooperation with the Army in Burma and China.

Status: offline 		-And a desperate attempt to supply the base with AK´s withouth escorts or air cover resulted in heavy damage to one transport, but the other will arrive tomorrow. Lae soldiers will eat rice in the next turn....meanwhile, our AA gunners in Lae shot down their first B-26. In an unexpected development, enemy troops seem to be retreating from Nanning. Strenght estimate decreased from 110000 to 80000 in just two days, lots of Chinese units seen in the road to Canton (hmmmmmmm.....)

Status: offline 		-Japanese officials denied the rumors that the attempt to reinforce Lae resulted in the loss of all 4 transports and one Patrol craft, claiming that the reinforcement operation was succesfull and losses acceptable. In Nanning, the arrival of heavy AA guns boosted the local defenses, resulted in two Il-4 shot down and more than 10 LB-30´s heavily damaged.

Status: offline 		Allied bomber crews returning from Nanning confirmed that a substantial increase in flak was observed. While losses were light overall, many of the returning planes displayed signifigant damage and mechanics were working overtime patching them up. Morale among the bomber crews took a sharp drop. A decision will have to be made on whether to up the altitude and accept less hits or maintain the tenancity of the air assault and accept the battering that the bomber groups are taking.

Allied forces situated around the Akyab area continue to dig in should any Imperial ground forces attempt to extract them from their recently won gains.

General MacArthur today announced a great aerial victory over Lae with the destruction of two small convoys attempting to resupply the Japanese army's toehold on the NG'ian penninsula. Most of the supplies were deemed destroyed with the damaging and destruction of the AK's. So far Japanese resistance in the area has been small and sporadic. A small cruiser force bombarded Gili Gili causing only minor injuries and damage. More disturbing however was the detection of a Japanese TF southwest of Port Morosby. Could be carriers.....or perhaps another bombardment force destined for Port Morosby.

Status: offline 		IJN heavy surface units were able to bombard PM inflicting heavy losses to the enemy. Intel estimated that 30-40 enemy planes were destroyed in the ground, rendering PM unfit to offensive operations in the next 4 days. Follow up attacks with LBA from Rabaul found little resistance, but also inflicted small damage. Overall losses in South Pacific were about 45 aircraft for the allies and 10 for IJN. However, the IJN High command was deeply disappointed with the poor performance of Zeros at extreme range. In another worrying development, enemy land troop numbers in Nanning seem to have increased by 100% in only two days. Some offcials in the Army are suggesting a retreat to Hanoi.
