i'm italian and i need an advice about this game.

I have to choose between Crown of Glory and Europa Universalis 2.

I prefer to solve battles automatically by Ai so i like only the strategic and diplomatic rules.

Whitout the battle in the tactical map, Crown of glory good?

Which game do you think is better for diplomacy and strategy? EU2 or Crown of Glory?

Status: offline 		Whilst both games are excellent and you will undoubtedly get strong support for either, depending on whether you ask this question on the Matrix site (as you have) or on the Paradox website to effectively answer this question yourself you need to consider what you want out of your purchase. I believe that with EUII you get a fantastic simulation of the 15th - early 19th centuries played out over 2,000 provinces with multiple countries and many innovative concepts such as the use of culture and religion. CoG on the other hand is to date, the best example of a Napoleonic simulation with a wealth of strategic and tactical gameplay.

I've been playing COG for only a few days and playing EU2 for several years. That said, is your interest more in military or in history? If you have a strong inclination one way or another, go with COG for military and EU2 for history. Another consideration is that EU2 has been out for a long time and, apparently, there will eventually be an EU3. You could COG now and then EU3 later.

Status: offline 		Secondo me COG, pur essendo un bellissimo gioco, lascia molto a desiderare quanto a sistema diplomatico, non perché vi siano poche possibilità d'azione, anzi... ma perché quando si tratta di fare proposte o di concludere trattati l'AI spesso assume delle decisioni antistoriche ed irrazionali.
EU2 è sotto questi profili migliore.
Per quanto riguarda invece il sistema strategico-militare vale il contrario: COG è molto più profondo, anche se vi è da considerare che tale sistema può essere sfruttato appieno solo se si combattono le battaglie nel tattico e che comunque presenta lo stesso delle incongruenze.
Concludendo, io personalmente preferisco COG, ma ritengo che per le tue esigenze sia meglio EU2.

Status: offline 		Anche europa universalis sotto il profilo diplomatico lascia a desiderare.
Ad esempio a volte non accetta condizioni di pace particolarmente vantaggiose pur di non cedere certe province.
Magari controllo 6 province, e ciò nonostante non accenna a cedermene il controllo anche se la % rimane nettamente sotto il mio vantaggio di guerra.

Mi pare invece, ma è solo un'impressione dato che non ho ancora giocato, che COG dia più possibilità e varietà di azioni rispetto a EU2.

Per quanto riguarda le battaglie, ho intenzione di farle in quick primo per mancanza di tempo e secondo perchè per il tattico preferisco non giocare a turni ed esagoni ma una situazione più "animata" e reale come la serie Total war.

Status: offline 		Well I can't say much about COG as I have only been playing it for about 2 weeks. On the other hand I have been playing EU since the first one came out. I personally think EU2 is a great game, but my interest is more in stratigic and tactical game play which is why I now am playing more of COG. If you are not really interested in tactical battles and prefer AI resolved battles your best bet is EU2. I feel that in terms of diplomacy and strategy EU2 is a better game. But My opinion is based on my more vast experience with EU over COG so don't just take my word for it.

Status: offline 		E' vero, teoricamente in COG c'è più varietà d'azioni rispetto a EU2, peccato che però queste siano poco giocabili e a volte praticamente inutili. Di fatto se non hai modo di giocare in rete con altre persone la fase diplomatica è secondaria.
Poi ci sono delle cose che ancora stento a capire. Tanto per fare un esempio, se mi alleo con un'altra potenza questa non interviene al mio fianco quando altre mi dichiarano guerra. Poi mi sembra che spesso gli stati minori si alleino ad uno stato maggiore quasi casualmente (spesso ho visto l'Algeria diventare un protettorato della Russia!!!). Inoltre, causa bug dichiarato dai programmatori stessi, non è possibile formare particolari stati satellite come la Confederazione del Reno, il regno di Westphalia etc. che sono previsti dal manuale di gioco.
E questi che cito sono solo una parte dei problemi che ancora rimangono nonostante le patch (che comunque ne hanno risolti parecchi altri). Nel forum potrai trovare conferma andando a vedere i messaggi precedenti.
In EU2 invece, a parte la questione da te segnalata -che ha fatto impazzire anche me e che comunque può avere a volte una sua motivazione storica- non ci sono altre anomalie così evidenti. Tieni poi conto che si tratta di un gioco di 5 anni fa... e che costa molto meno (nel 2007 uscirà il terzo, non so se lo sai).
Comunque se hai la possibilità compra COG perché resta un gioco sicuramente valido.

Cmq grazie mille per i consigli, mi hai chiarito abbastanza bene la forza dei 2 giochi.

Ho effettivamente visto che uscirà EU3, purtroppo la cosa è ancora lontana... :)

Altri strategici che è "necessario" giocare, di qualunque epoca?

Status: offline 		Si chiama "histwar: les grognards". Penso che però sia solo a livello tattico, senza gestione globale.
Al momento sto giocando a Gates of Troy: è carino ma non necessario.
Civilization IV pare che sia molto bello.
Comunque per farti un'idea fatti un giro sul sito che ti ho detto prima e leggiti le recensioni dei vari giochi.
Sono grossomodo azzeccate.
