More on Marjoe from IMDb:

"

Biography for
Marjoe Gortner

Birth name
Hugh Marjoe Ross Gortner
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mini biography
In his early career as the 4-year-old "World's Youngest Ordained Minister," Hugh Marjoe Ross Gortner became a 'Miracle Child' extraordinare. Preaching gospel from memory and performing faith healings, he drew capacity crowds as he barnstormed throughout the Bible Belt. Marjoe (his name is a combination of "Mary" and "Joseph") eventually became disillusioned with what he considered a huge deception and withdrew from the scene entirely during his teens. But his God-given talents for drawing an audience and public speaking were to be put to good use later on.

After singing with a rock band, he felt a compulsion to act. The amazing documentary Marjoe (1972), based on his life as a fake evangelist, introduced the public to a new and profoundly hypnotic performer. Marjoe's potent roles in the TV projects The Marcus-Nelson Murders (1973) (TV) and The Gun and the Pulpit (1974) (TV) capitalized on this off-centered flamboyance and showed off his obvious potential. The extremely positive reviews here helped catapult him into films. Unfortunately, most of them, promising as they must have seemed at the time -- Earthquake (1974), The Food of the Gods (1976), Viva Knievel! (1977), and When You Comin' Back, Red Ryder? (1979) -- went on to become dismal failures, and his quest for stardom never materialized. Marjoe stumbled through some more films in the 80s, but even HE, with his charismatic powers, couldn't save himself from coming off badly in such drivel as Mausoleum (1983/I) and Hellhole (1985) and his career sank into oblivion. Though his work as an actor has grown faint with time, Marjoe will at the very least be remembered as the man who blew the whistle on evangelism. Who knows? Knowing Marjoe, there is still time for a second coming."

i notice they left out Starcrash!

Lets be fair, the direction and editing of Highlander I also was pretty poor. The story, while original, was pretty rough also. However, it had that element of off-beat uniqueness, along with a cool plot line that makes for a great cult classic stuff.

Well, yeah... But then, truly well-made movies don't get to be cult classics in the first place.

As for the first, i'm sure millions of cultists would disagree (esp. after reading some comments by fans on some cult films.)

Congrats on 7700!

Not so far. We had some fires in my town earlier this year which scorched some fields and burnt up some brush, but we finally got some rain. The current fires are off to the west by 100+ miles, i think.

Well, the winds would tend to spread them this direction, i guess, however, i just checked and they are about 350 miles or so from here, out in the pan-handle area (i.e. - VERY dry area, semi-desert). Although the fires are the some of the largest in Texas history, they would have to jump several rivers and start fires in areas that have had a lot more rain recently (it did rain here last night). So i am not worried about this fire affecting us.

This summer may be a different matter. We haven't had a lot a rain this winter and the water table in down, so i suspect it may get to be tinder dry in a couple of months...

Yeah, but the difference is, in Highlander II and III, he succeeded.

There was only one!

(Or are you talking the rather good TV series? But that doesn't make sense, Lambert was only in one episode of that.)

Yet, they still kept making the Highlander movies even after that (it looks like they might have EIGHT of these things out...) i'm not sure he was in all of them, though...

There is a Highlander movie in production (Highlander: The Source), but it is a continuation of the TV series with Adrian Paul as the lead.

He wasn't. There was a short-lived TV series as well...

Six seasons ain't "short-lived".

Probably the worst movie i've ever seen in a theater was "Starcrash", a starwars ripoff (out on video in some different names to protect the guilty). It was truly amazing. Really bad "special" effects, stupid plot, etc. Christopher Plummer was in it (amazingly) and he made some sort of speach at the end of movie. Some guy sitting in about the 3rd row of a relatively large theater, exploded in anger and yelled "Aw, f**k off!!" and hurled his half eaten box of popcorn in an arc towards the screen. The rest of the audience laughed and applauded this guys sentiments... A couple of people said they had seen it on video, and were about to turn it off when the star (a Bond girl Babarella-like character) got sentenced to spend a life term in a bikini...

"Starcrash" link

An Italian production apparently. (Although I do like the IMDb recommendations for this movie. )

Making another Highlander movie? This has got to be the definition of the term "beating it to death with a stick."

Let's see. There were three "original" Highlander movies w/Lambert. Three TV series, one w/Adrian Paul as lead (six seasons), one w/Elizabeth Gracen as lead (one season) and one animated (one season apparently). One crossover movie with Paul and Lambert. And the current in production movie which is an Adrian Paul vehicle from what I've heard, continueing the first TV series.

i liked these comments:

"I wonder if Christopher Plummer even lists this one on his resume, but you can bet David Hasselhoff has it near the top of his. I hate to say it, but apart from Caroline Munros legs he's the best thing in the film. Now that's a bad movie."

and

"The remarkable thing about this movie is that every time you think "that is the most ridiculous plot device ever..." something else comes along that blows your socks off. About mid way thru I could not quit laughing. For instance, our heroine sets a ship on collision course with the Evil Count's space fortress. To save herself, at the last second before the catacylismic collision, SHE JUMPS OUT OF THE WINDOW! And then does the BREAST STROKE! through OUTER SPACE! Oh My God! I can't stop laughing!"
