Hi Nik,

Thanks for sharing the photos!. Too bad they removed the guns. They must be monstrous.

We are planning a return excursion to Fort Casey, #3 fort in the "Triange of Death" that protected Puget Sound. Two 10in disapearing guns from the Phillipine islands have been rescued and restored there. Plan on gettting some quality pics of them.

Thanks a for sharing my friend.

My main observation was how beefy you are and that you must have struggled through those 'vent's

At least i fit. Had you been there a Park Ranger and a tow truck would probably have been required to unplug you.

You got me pardner. I mean who wouldn't be jealous about squashing themselves into large spaces

I'm just a bit miffed I hadn't got my Digital Camera when I went to Gallipoli. The topic on it the other day reminded me of how annoyed I am about not being able to post them pics on here.

I still think it would be great if there was some way all of the 'picture topics' could be stickied for future viewing pleasure.

P.S. Nik's a Jap Fanboy who's god damn broke those Oscars. What on earth are they doing shooting stuff down.......

Very cool... Those mortars, how big were they?

As mentioned, usually 12 inch. Here's a vintage photo of one in a similar casemate battery (a square of four abutted on three sides by high concrete walls)

Roger thought that could be a reason.

Can't be right though since we all know the AVG had a kill ration of 100:1 against them........not in our game

Nice Picks!, Interesting area to be shure, the fort is very sinilar in aparence to Fort Stevans State park her in Oregon. I ran into an old timer while visiting that park a few years ago he was stationed their when the Japanese sub sheled the base (tryed to). I have yet to visit the washington side of the Columbia though to see the Fort over their, some day

I have been all over your neck of the woods though Nick and their are a lot of fun things to see and do up thier for folks with our interest's, Boing Field, Fort Lewis, all the other Museums, ect.

A few years ago my GF and I stayed on I beleave it was Whibly Island in a old Oficers quarters, cant remember exactly the name of the pace but it was very close to the fery landing (10 min drive maybe) on Whibly Island. Very cool place, your GF might like it.

Sindney BC has a neat little museum as well, with a Blenhim in it, or did about 5 years ago, other museums dot Vancover Island some with large colections, all prety close by and aforadable.

What do you have to concede to for your GF to go along with these "romantic" excursions?

Actually it was her idea. She enjoys getting out and exploring, even if "Old Concrete" itself isn't all that interesting to her. She did find Casey and it's guns interesting.

My idea was to sit at the computer and put in some testing time. Next thing i know i'm being pulled out the door by my ear.

She sounds like the ideal GF unit! Is she to be upgraded to Wife Mk I in the future? Now, if she also thinks "Pearl Harbor" was a colossal bore of a chick flick...elope!

Reminds me a lot of the forts at Pensacola, Civil war, Spanish American as well as WWII. I will have to see if I have any pics, mostly video with Blue Angels flying overhead on practice days.

We stayed in the campground and visited the different forts at our liesure. The best was waking up on Tuesday mornings and having the Angels come over the campground in their diamond formation. That was a great wake up call.

That's what happens when your country just sorta stands on the sidelines and cheers the good guys on in the big, interesting wars.

(Joking friend. I know the reality is otherwise. )

Wow. Funny you should say this just now:

I was just browsing another game site's Off Topic forum, and they got into a Canada versus USA argument there. (USA = warmongers, in case you didnt know.) All the "talking points" from both side were thrown out there. Thread was deleted. Sigh. Just as i was creating a literary masterpiece...
