It was suggested that the teams i`m downloading to a league if there is field art . there should be a folder for field art with the team besides , the home and away . The 7 teams i`ve downloaded theres no sep field art folder . In the zip folder besides the home and away, there bmp files of field art . I`ve tried to copy to team folder ,the home folder . They show up in the folder . But when i play a quick game theres no field graphics . The uniforms show up correct . Question will they show up in a quick game . Trying to create a 60 to 80 team league , so hope to get teams right the first time .

You misunderstood what he said. For one team you have the following folders for example:

Saints - this is a folder
L3A.bmp (center fild graphic) - This is a file
L4A.bmp (One end zone) - This is a file
L5A.bmp (Other end zone) -This is a file
(May have other files for mud and snow which I believe would be -example L3B.bmp) these will be files.
Away - this is a folder
(In this folder and the various away uniform files)
Home - this is a folder
(In this folder there are the various home uniform files)

Field art does not go in the home folder. It should go in your team folder (the main folder for that team, which also contains the home and away folders)

TeamName folder
.field art files
.home folder
.....home uniform files
.away folder
.....away uniform files

Oh ya. With out a doubt this kicks the pants off of any Madden Console game at least in the Customability department. the only Football game for the PS1 that I have ever liked was NCAA 2001 which allowd you too make schools and customize there uniforms, but it was still limited compared to MaxFB.

I have no problem getting field art showing up for quick games. Check to see if the field art is with a lower case or upper case letter (L3a vs L3A). The first time I installed field art, it was not showing up. I had everything in the right folders. I then noticed that the "a" was lower case. I chanced it to upper case "A" and the have not had another problem.

Also make sure it is 256 colors rather than RGB.

Deft has a good point here. Here is a perfect reason why if you want to make good team artwork for MaxFB with lots a flexibility, go get Paint Shop Pro or Photo shop (or any other advanced art program) because it allows you too increase or decrease the Color depth of your graphics. Microsoft Paint doesn't allow this.

Check Ebay, you may be able to get a good deal on PSP there. That's actually how I got my copy of PSP7. You can get a big discount if you don't care about having a box or a printed manual.

DONMVP or anybody else that might be able to help, I've never used any type of software that is used for doing uniforms and field art. I've downloaded the Gimp, because the price fit my budget perfectly , and I'm struggling to get things done. For my first uniform I chose my high school uni because its pretty simple. Only have the helmet done, not to difficult when its just red with a white/black/white stripe just like the pants . But after a while I get so frustrated I just close it down. It seems to me the help section is written for those who know what they are doing and just identifying the tools of the different dialogs doesn't help me much. I'm in need of something like "An Idiots Guide To The Gimp" or "Ok Buckethead This Is How It's Done". Thornbird's tutorial at his website for making a helmet is exactly what I need short of having somebody sitting next me holding my hand while I make a uni. I feel pretty stupid because I've been in the engineering documentation business for 27 years. I now use a 3D package called SolidWorks. But let me tell you, working thru the templates and just picking and changing colors is really kicking my butt. And I haven't even tried working with any logos yet. Bassman's tutorial helps a bit but it's difficult trying to make the translation from PSP, which I've never used, to Gimp. Any tips, clues, hints, or direction to turn that you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Download the basic color templates from FBMax. If nothing else that'll give you an idea of what colors ought to look like. Then it's just a matter of playing around with colors in the template (just find the "base color" layer and change the colors there) to get it to look like you want. You'll have to play around with it. I wouldn't worry about messing with layer settings, just worry about colors until you get more of a feel for it.

used that basic one and it dose help . I just copy that into program and used the color eye dropper switch the color till i get it right . Also if i see , stripings on the shoulders and pants that match what i want i copy that from some of the created teams from FB.MAX , And change those colors . Took the louisville symbol and resized it , for helmet . Hard part on that uniform , was getting right size for the logo on the front of pants ,. But still working on that .

I agree with firebird be great to have an idiot guide to gimp and the other programs . Never been one to sit and go throught the whole book , like to jump about . Also what is best way to make a snow end zone , and rain and mud end zone . Started experimenting doing a normal one , like to make others for inclement weather games .

Thanks for the input folks, I really appreciate it. I suppose what I need to do is sit down with a bigger beverage of choice, work at it and not get frustrated so easily. If anybody does find an "Idiots Guide To Gimp" or just writes up a walkthru for the MaxFB templates please let me know. I'll let you know how I'm coming along, the weekend is nearly here and hopefully the linolium lizzards will let me spend some quiet time on the computer. Take care.

Dave should release the source code to the uniform viewer or release it to someone who is willing to give it a shot

so someone can make it so you can change the color of the jerseys pants socks on the fly like fbpro and madden and load uniforms as well instead of having .exe files all over the place.

Dunno if anyone is up for it but that would be awesome

For the logos and midfield art ..heheh that's a different story, but it's basically cutting and pasting and scaling unless you do them from scratch then that's another story.
