A quick tithe before heading out into this beautiful 72F/22C, no humidity, not a cloud in the sky weather to spread a little mulch and Roundup some weeds. We get maybe two days like this every year. Mostly it's 95F/35C, 50% humidity and a thick haze that makes the sky look like old tennis shoes.

Well, you guys finally convinced me to watch the video but the link doesn't work for me. I get an "unrecognized file type" message and am asked if I want to save it. Someone got another link?

Works ok for me - but requires RealPlayer to work, i think...

You can go to NPR.org and find it there.

try this archive - you can click on the video link beneath the pic:

Calm before the storm...?

Anyway, the reason that women are the stronger of the sexes:

The other day, I was talking to the Polish girl in my business school class. It was the day after Easter break had ended, and since she's Catholic, she'd been home in Poland to spend the holiday with her family. 16 hour trip by car each way.

Now, because of said 16 hour car trip, she's having trouble sitting still on her chair in the class room, and because it's a warm day, she's wearing a tank top. A low-cut tank top.

The equation:

Attractive Polish girl + warm day + low-cut tank top = her breasts jiggling up and down = me staring at her chest instead of her face while she's talking to me.

Mind you, it's not like I'm ashamed of it, any more than a shark would be ashamed of eating a surfer. It can't help itself, and neither could I or any other man.

The thing is, though, that I could actually hear my synaptic processes grinding to a halt, and afterwards I couldn't remember two words of her story about the trip.

Robin Williams said it in one of his shows:

"God gave you a penis and a brain, and only enough blood to run one at a time".

Now, if God had only given us a toggle switch, so we could actually decide which one to run at a time, but He didn't. Oh, He made the switch, but He gave it to the women instead.

And that's why women are the stronger sex. They hold the toggle switch.

Yeah, and it's always "amusing" how they affect outrage if/when a man takes notice of the partially exposed mammary glands...

Someone once pointed out how self-serving this was... it was as if a man went around with part of his genitalia hanging out, and if some woman noticed, he would get angry and say "Hey, what are you looking at! I'm up here!!"

Careful, T. might get deliberately "confused" and "accidentally" supply you with her fiancee's number by "mistake"...

... There was a Simpsons episode where Homer dies from eating broccoli. When Doctor Hibbert shows up, he shakes his head knowingly and says "another broccoli-related death". Marge goes, "but I thought it was supposed to be good for you", to which Hibbert replies, "oh no, broccoli is one of nature's deadliest vegetables. It even tries to warn us with its awful taste!"

i liked the episode where Homer gets into a steak-eating contest with a guy - and loses. The winner dies of beef poisoning...

Hey, Terminus - i tried downloaded CDEX ver 1.51 (non-beta) on my home computer - and it is apparenlty NOT recognizing the track names on a CD.

i REALLY do not want to spend hours and hours retyping all this info... does your version recognize the track names? If so, which version are you using?

Sigh - ok - at least now i can stop trying to figure out what the heck i was doing wrong.

i think will just risk trying to purchase the Blaze Media one - hopefully, it just involves using an activation code.

Blaze Media Pro does - cost $$ though. Worth it if i don't have to retype everything. You can get a 15 day trial version free off the net.

Just ordered it, and awaiting the activation code - i was also able to order a backup CD, which i find useful since if something happens to the original download file, i can then locate a disk (sort of like having the WITP disk...) Yes, i suppose i could make my own disk, but that takes time, and is subject to random error.

Of course, this being a Sunday, probably won't get the activation code for a while (probably until tomorrow...)

As i mentioned - i am trying to archive all these audio CDs (there are 100's of them) and i really don't want to spend more time per CD to achieve the goal. It takes about 10 minutes to convert one, and i don't want to spend 20-30 minutes typing in all the titles (on say 30+ tracks). Let's say it is 15 minutes extra per CD x maybe 500 CDs - that is worth more than the money it costs for the program... i don't think i could even pay some one minimum wage and do it cheaper.
