Oh, you mean in the game? There are no Colliers in the game, AG means Barge.

Here's a link (from the same website) of probably the most famous collier, the U.S.S. Cyclops. The Cyclops disappeared without a trace in the area known as...cue creepy music...THE BERMUDA TRIANGLE!

Status: offline 		Except that in the game AGs are exclusively IJN. Coal barges (the early ones were anyway), converted from civillian use to military, hauling rice and ammo and sake and light infantry and such. There were several small surface actions fought in the Solomons in 1943 as a result of IJN attempts to push barge convoys through, and USN attempts to interdict such convoys. I believe the PT 109 action was one such....

I'm sorry we all got so flippant in response to your perfectly good question, which is one that occurred to everyone when Uncommon Valor came out. We just haven't had any opportunity to have fun with it for a long time.

I remember looking at the ship types list and wondering, "Coal scows? Why in the world are there coal scows in this game?" Apparently, nobody on the design team could figure out (a) what to call the small craft converted by the Japanese for troop and supply carrying use, or (b) a usable two-letter designation for them to put in the list of ship types.

I mean, if you call 'em "barges," one of the semi-wits around here would have come up with, "Barges? We don't need no stinkin' barges" by now. Besides, Brady doesn't appear to want any more clolryrs, but he'd be clamoring for 1,000,000 more berags to fill out the "Woden fleat."

Of course, I could never figure out why USN amphibious assault craft were not carried on parent APAs and AKAs, either ... (when you consider that you can create PT boats out of on-board supplies, the mystery deepens)

Seriously, if you apply a little logic, and the rules (dont know what the WW2 equivalent is to the modern day classification system manual), it probably should be something like YFK or YFKP.

Status: offline 		As if therer were any confusion, in WWII, the Japanese apparently had a whopping two(2) colliers, the Muroto and the Noshima..

I suspect the so-called "A.G."'s in the game are actually Daihatsu, a small landing craft general purpose short range transport of mass production, (smaller than their LST's).
Yeah, they called theirs' LST's also.
