I have some 3500 Mitsubushi engines in my pool right now (29 Jul 42).

Think in terms of months of supply, not how many. Count your factories using them and divide into the total pool. That's how many months of supply you have. I like to keep at least 3 months of supply in the pool, plus run as many as needed to fill airframes.

You are going to lose hundreds and hundreds of aircraft once Corsairs and Hellcats arrive.

Ok, in my PBEM I'm at 29 Jul 42. I get the Tony and Tojo in a couple of days. Damn Oscars are death traps. The Tony (I think) uses the Kawasaki engine. It's single engine, right? Just planning.....

I have 700+ engines sitting in my pool just waiting (probably rusting).

Yes, the Tony uses 1 Kawasaki engine...

Tony's are good against bombers because they have good firepower. I've gotten better results with Tonys than Tojos so far, but I use both because Tojos are Nakajima. I don't have enough Kawasakis and won't make more because they are otherwise useless.

Thanks, Mynok. I hadn't thought of it that way. I have a nice spreadsheet to track my aircraft. I'll add columns for engine # and type and have it calculate my monthly needs. That should work nicely.

Thanks, guys. Any idea how long each type is effective? Do you just keep producing them until something better comes along? If so, what usually do you replace them with?

Define 'effective'.

They die less rapidly than Oscars I or II or any type of Zero against P40s, Spitfires and P38s. I cannot compare them in actual game circumstances with Franks, Jacks, or Georges yet, nor against Corsairs and Hellcats.

However, if you will read the last 5 pages or so of the AAR Pzb vs Wobbly, you will see Tojos, Tonies and Oscars all die in droves at the hands of the Allies. It's really a question of how big the droves are.

The monster fly buzzed off on its own accord. I think it got tired of looking at me cowering under my bed.

It was probably just as scared as you....arguing with itself:

"Come on, you can do it! Look, it's hiding under the bed! It's scared! Feast!"

"But it's HUGE and GRUMPY!"

LOL Mynok

So, if T and the fly got mixed up in an experiment, ala the B sci-fi classic the fly, then would the result would be a really grumpy and sarcastic fly-man?

Seems like a lot of Jap fanboys around here. I think it's time to take sides, or at least have a poll:

It's the unofficial, official, declare your intentions poll of all Threadians. Are you:

A. A rabid Jap fanboy, with secret fantasies of sipping saki while watching a Hawian sunset?
B. A rabid Allied fanboy, with deep desire to be popping open a cold one in the Emperors gardens (and watering the bushes )?
C. You go both ways as you are just a total lush?

You don't buzz when you type.

Edit: I just read what you typed above. I stand corrected.

Anyone have a giant flyswater handy?

I'm a D...

D): A Kill-Every-Whining-Fanboy-Fanboy. You entertain fantasies of getting in an Abrams tank, finding a fanboy, driving back and forth over him eight times whilst giggling like a maniacal pre-teen schoolgirl, and then go find some more fanboys with which to repeat the process.

Which leads to options E and F:

E: A anti-sarrcastic-flyman-fanboy, where you dream of squashing overly sarcastic fly-men with a 12,000 horse power titanium, cyanide laced, barbed flyswater.
F. An anti-maniacle-preteen girl-fanboy, where you dream of dousing afore mentioned in gasoline and lighting them on fire.

Third. Having been to Universal Studios and seen Earthquake the ride, they discuss U-571. Now I want to see the movie again even if 10 non-German speaking American sailors learn to run a German U-boat in 3 minutes.
