Submarines, mostly... The Dutch submarines actually work, you know... Lay some mines too; the Dutch have a few minelayers available.

What he said! Also, try to destroy the oil facilities as you withdraw (get engineers to the bases, esp. Palembang). Utlimately, supplies will be the Achilles Heel of the IJN - no fuel - things slow down, and the sooner you can do this, the better.

Okay, if I get an engineer in the base how does he destroy facilities? Do they do it once the enemy is assaulting?

I evaced two dutch units off a piddling little island and moved them to Batavia incliding a Eng unit. I am sure I can find an extra Eng to send to Pelembang.

It is costing me a vaction day, but it's worth it. I also have few things to do around here today (some house cleaning).

I also have to find a set of battery cables for the jeep. Reference earlier posts.

Now that we are back from Charleston, there are things to be done.

Yeah - as long as the engineer squads are not disabled, they will attempt to destroy stuff when the hex is actually taken.

Civilians will also OCCASIONALLY blow stuff up - but this is iffy at best.

Yeah - the IJ tactic is to bomb/bombard the snot out of any defending engineers (and anyone else in the hex). If everyone is disrupted, the chances of them doing anything to the oil and resources when the hex falls is minimized. At least, this is the way it appears to work (to me).
