I spent a fine afternoon at the airshow at Selfridge AFB in the thumb of Michigan yesterday. Amongst the many fine exhibits on the ground was a gentleman who had LARGE working models on 3 German AFVs. The smallest of the three was a Tiger which was about the size of a lawnmower, its gun shot water and I thought it was great. Then I noticed the Jagdpanther which stood about three and a half feet high. Also on a gasoline engine and all the more impressive. Finally I saw the Panther who the gentleman had also constructed. It was even larger than the Jagdpanther in scale and was just drop dead gorgeous. All vehicles were remote controlled, all in authentic markings, and all made me want one really really bad!. As for the show they had a great variety of WWII aircraft. Also a fair bit of Korean war era planes as well. On static display was a JU52 also in pristine condition and in original markings. As my birthday is tuesday I had my inner circle of friends over today, and as we were enjoying dinner that JU52 flew over my backyard. That was just incredible in the year 2000 to see one in flight let alone over my backyard. My friends thought I was a little wierd getting as excited as I did, but for seeing any world war two era planes in flight truly brings a tear to my eye. And this was no exception.

I know exactly what you mean Jagd. A few months ago I heard a wierd noise coming towards the house. I looked up in time to see a B-17 with two P-51 Mustangs flying escort on the way to the Georgetown airshow. Needless to say I was awestruck! By the way I just saw on the news that filming for the new movie "Pearl Harbor" will begin on Wednesday in Corpus Christi, TX. It was mentioned that they hope to have around 50 WWII aircraft for the filming. If anyone gets a chance it will probably be worth taking a look into. Anyway I guess I should quit my rambling. Take care everyone! [This message has been edited by Leibstandarte (edited July 24, 2000).]

A simuliar thing happened to me last summer as I was driving home from work. I noticed a low flying 4 engined plane just to my 11 o'clock high. I knew right away what it was. I could never mistake that big beautiful distinctive tail fin! A B-17! I couldn't get my window fast enough too hear the sweet sound of those engines! I only wish I had a camera. ------------------ MJ We serve others best when at the same time we serve ourselves.

Hi Just read that the Spitfire is going to be manufactured again in England. Its going to be retailing for about $1 million if anybody wants a expensive toy. Perhaps the model 2004 M8 Greyhound will be a alternative for those who already have a Hummer. Regards Molset

There's also a company building exact replicas of ME262s. The plan is to build 5, I think two of them are still for sale. There's a Russian company that builds RC T72s/T80s that are about 1 meter long. They plan to market a T34, Tiger and Panther sometime this year. Sorry don't have the URL. Speaking of Russians, the Yakolev aircraft company is marketing kits to build your own Yak 9.
