The combat report makes it look like I am an idiot for sending in unescorted bombers. In reality 80 Zeros form Keopang were supposed to escort the strike but they could not locate their target. This is annoying because:

1. They flew from the same base as the bombers
2. They were at normal range and the bombers were at extended range
3. They had escorted strikes there about 10-15 times before
4. Derby has been reconed every day for the last 2 months
5. They had 300 freakin' bombers to follow

The kicker was that the next day the bombers flew agin (unescorted) and then I get a message that air missions were canceld due to bad weather. I guess just the Zeros didn't want to get wet.

Total losses for the 2 days was 150 Sallys and 30 Betties. If the Zeros had flown they would have cut through the lousy fighters and this would have been a great day for me.

I know that PBY's cannot do recon missions because of the range and you have to use the Coranado's to reach. Didn't know about B-24's thought.

Is the seige of Karachi about to begin??  If so then I need to get some  and get tickets for the front row.

My loyalties are now split as the NY Giants have pre-season camp opening today.

Death to the Eagles!!

A while back I remember someone complaining that B-24s could not reach Wake from Midway. Either they were wrong or something changed

According to the RULE BOOK, it should not be possible in the STANDARD WITP game since the B-24s would be flying from a size 4 (too small) airfield at extended range.

However, when actually tested, it turns out it IS possible, even in the standard game.

EDIT: Looks like the rule book is wrong again? How can this be possible?!

Hi, In stock game Midway begins war as size 6(3) B-24d range is 14 hexes. wake is 14 hexes from Midway so it is in range of extended strikes. (and it always has been)

Oops - sorry - i think i was thinking Wake to Marcus...

EDIT: Pretty sure this was the argument - whether Marcus could be bombed from Wake. Range is 11 hexes, max range on the B-24 is 10, and max (regular) WITP airfield is 4.

So, according to the manual, it could not be done by B-24s, however, someone claims to have tested it and it CAN be done. (i personally have not done this trick.)

Also, i think P-38s could manage it at extended range since they can use the smaller AF without penalty.

Thats what I get for listening to a disgruntled (and mathmatically challenged) poster rather than checking it myself.

Hi, what size is kopang? I thought it was only a size 4 airfield and it appears to be overloaded. Does it have an air HQ in range. (That might be why the strikes were fubared)

See my corrected post above - i think the argument was about Wake to Marcus, not Midway to Wake.

Maybe. Maybe I will take out the strong garrisons in the Bengal area 1st.

Kenny hasn't bugged out and run for Karachi yet so I want to keep him guessing as to my true intentions.

Have some pity on me for being a Phillies fan. Kenny like the Mets (spit..spit) so he is enjoying this season. The Eagles are my only hope.
