Strange, there doesn't seem to be a way to make this sticky. I'll bump it occasionally, I suppose.

Done.

I think they messed up your moderator privileges in the subforums, Ralph. They have listed a different name, than your usual username, as the moderator.

Hi everyone,
Here is the first version of my theater-specific graphics pack for TOAW3.  This ONLY changes the European/Africa ww2-era scenarios in the "Classic TOAW" directory.  I'd mod others but I don't want to go mucking about with others people's work and have little time to start contacting people asking for permission.  If any scenario writers are here and want to give me the green light to do yours, I'd be happy to do so.  Most of these are derived from Talonsoft's Campaign Series games.
Please read the accompanying text file included in the zip for full install details.  Basically, just unzip the pack to your main TOAW3 directory and agree to copy over the existing folder.  This mod WILL NOT alter any default graphics but only adds subdirectories under the main Graphics directory.
Please leave comments and/or suggestions.  And yes, I will be doing the Pacific as soon as I can; hopefully within the coming week.

Download HERE
Screenshot:
(The scenarios listed below are just a few examples; all non-Pacific WW2-era scenarios have been modded and are included in the zip file.)

Link to my mod's thread

Last version is 3.0a (3.74 MB)

jm_mod_toaw3_final.zip download links:

Download from FileFront (mod + counters squared & rounded)
Download from PDiFolco's server (mod + counters squared & rounded)

jm_mod_toaw3_3.0.zip download links:
Download from Net Wargaming Italia
Download from GameSquad

Completed it with my counters:

Download tiles_squared.zip from NWI - 0.79MB
Download tiles_squared.zip from GameSquad

Download tiles_rounded.zip from NWI - 0.79MB
Download tiles_rounded.zip from GameSquad

Old versions:
Download jm_mod_toaw3_2.41.zip from zShare - 5.66MB
Download jm_mod_toaw3_2.31 from Net Wargaming Italia
Download update v. 2.40 from Net Wargaming Italia - 1.17MB
Download update v. 2.40b from Net Wargaming Italia - 1.33MB

Download jm_mod_toaw3_2.31 from zShare
Download update v. 2.40 from zShare - 1.17MB

Because file's size v 2.31 is too big for GameSquad I have divided it in four files:
toaw3_gui_jm_mod_2.31.zip
toaw3_counters_jm_mod_2.31.zip
terrainA_jm_mod_toaw3_2.31.zip
terrainB_jm_mod_toaw3_2.31.zip

Download update v. 2.40 from GameSquad - 1.17MB
Download update v. 2.40b from GameSquad- 1.33MB

Quick question; can I use several of these together? As an example, can I use GJK's mod along with the several small changes you (Silvanski) have made? For the computer inept, maybe instructions as to where to put these files might be of use. Last, where can one find your mods Silvanski? Thanks for the nice work and for any reply.

Pretty much. Just throw everything into the alternate graphics folder, being careful whenever it says you're about to overwrite a file. You can use any combination of graphics you like- though you may find some combinations are less attractive than others.

I'm very new to wargaming; but I've been making an effort to learn the ins and outs of TAOW. So far I'm loving it, and the learning curve isn't as steep as I thought it would be. I'm between contracts for my day job (graphics/animation for pc games) and I'm seriously considering making a huge graphic mod for TAOW.

I was pleasantly suprised to find this forum:) Its nice to know I'm not the only one who has the urge to tinker with the default graphics! I do have a few questions though:

Is there any way to make TAOW support png files? If its possible I wouldn't mind working in true-color with alpha channels:)

And I'm also curious about the "explosion animation"... when there is a conflict there is a fast expanding white ring that illustrates the clash between units... I'm wondering if this animation is in the graphics folder anywhere? Because I certainly haven't found it:P

Tiles_misc.bmp, fourth column from left. I think this is what you're after.

I turned those yellow, also the ones on the s_tiles_misc.bmp ... especially handy when you wanna follow combat on the zoomed out map.

What program are you using to alter the graphics? I have basic MS Paint on my PC and while it will work it is not easy to use when changing tiles. Is there (I am sure there is) something better I could use, either Freeware or retail.

I use Paint Shop Pro X...you can get it pretty cheap on Amazon Marketplace. Versions 8 and 9 are also great and can be had for next to nothing. The great thing about PSP is it has pretty much all the features that Photoshop has but you can get the new PSP for about $25 if you look around. However, PSP is alot more user friendly for beginners so there is a very gradual learning curve:)
