A couple quick questions:

Are you posting the entire combat report or just the highlights?

Also, could one of you two post an intel screen? Thanks.

these are the entire combat report. Things are just really slow that's all. Japanese operations are switching from offensive to defensive, while Allied operations are switching from defensive to offensive. Result of which is nothing is happening at the moment. But rest assure, things won't be quiet for long

here's the intel screen as per request.

I know that I am supposed to be playing defense at this point but I am predisposed towards action so I launched an attack on Midway. Just wanted to remind Kenny that I have a KB and I am not afraid to use it.

I don't know if I would say losing almost a whole carriers worth of pilots is good for the Japanese.
Attrition almost always favors the Allies.
I guess my wonder is why KD had so many ships at Midway??

P.S. The NY Giants still enjoy beating themselves with costly mistakes rather than have the other team beat them.

yeah haven't looked at the turn yet, but i would imagine that the Vals probably got the worst since they have to automatically drop down to 2000 feet to attack...which is brutal for AA. Usually best to keep the DB's home and set the TB's for a high altitude attack when hitting an airfield. Lucky for you though, i had a flight of 24 P38's sitting on the runway....not flying CAP this turn. Had just recently upgraded them to P38's..and was waiting for them to repair before would fly their missions. Next turn, they probably would've been on CAP. Overall good strike though

bad luck thats all. Didn't think the KB would come out and play, risking her precious pilots. Had a force of 7 subs there ready to sortie into the pacific in a couple days. Was just waiting for 3 more subs from Pearl to catch up. Also Tom wisely waited for bad weather and snuck in under a T-storm as my Coronado's failed to spot him until he was within striking distance

quote:

the Giants played a good game, were just overmatched against the veteren Payton Manning. They seem to have a good team, and i have no doubt they will be in the mix for the NFC East title. My Jets on the otherhand looked unexpectantly good. Had Nungent not missed 7 pts worth of FG's and extra pts...would've been a blow out. Pennington to my surprised looks like him oldself. Of course this was all against the Titans which aren't supposed to be good this year. But still, we are now only 9 wins away from a playoff spot now.

Just too bad you didn't hit the AS as well (if there is one anyway) to shut down Midway for submarine operations (and be it just for a short while...).
I agree with ny59giants, that the loss of experienced pilots was probably not worth these results.

The plan was to catch the bombardment fleet that plastered Wake and to take out some LB-30s and B-24s on the ground. I had not figured on the flak being so tough.

Overall the point of the raid was to show Kenny that I am not just going to sit back and wait for his offense. Had the weather cooperated the Perth raid would have at least scored some serious points.

To paraphrase Darth Vader "Now behold the power of this fully operational KB!"

I decided that staying near Midway was just too risky. KB is has safely disappeared back into the mist and is ready to fend off the capitalists when they violate the empire's boundries. Be afraid..be very afraid

CVs retreated out of Zero/Betty range leaving the trasports easy targets. The only problem was that due to the weather I had to force them to fly at gun point. Trashed the Tfs at Merauke. Now I just have to starve them out.

looks like clear weather next turn. Expecting a huge air battle at Thursday Is, as its likely Tom will attempt to close down the airfield.

Where's the KB you might wonder??..well it was last reported in the Central Pacific near Midway about 10 days ago. I figure it was probably near the home islands when i attacked southern new guinea, so that gives me about 4-6 days before i have to worry about the KB. Regardless, advance scouts have been sent out to pinpiont its location

Air battle at Thursday did not go well but then again neither did Kenny's raid at Wake. Total AC losses were 143 Jap and 103 Allied. Most important was that I failed to shut down (or even damage) the Thursday AF. My old nemisis the AVG and 24th Fighter Squadron are covering the base.

Kenny reoccupied Karachi as per our previous agreement. Looks like I will hold a 4.3:1 ratio through the end of the year but we are overriding auto-victory so this will mean nothing. It does go to show just how hard it is to achieve a 4:1 ratio as Japan.

Good News! Kenny tells me that that little furball at Thursday resulted in his top ace MAJ Smith, R.T. of the AVG (12 kills) being killed!

Sadley it looks like I made a few more of his pilots into aces.

Plus many of Kenny's pilots over Thursday Island will survive to fight again (once he gets more planes there) while you lose almost all of yours.

Kenny is going all out with his offensive. I hadn't planned on him attacking PM until Thursday was secure and built up. The mine field and costal guns extracted a huge toll on the landing fleet. Most important was the loss of 6 DMSs. This will hamper his ability to bombard mine defended bases in the future.

I sent a suicide force of 6DDs that was sunk before it could do anything. Desperate times call for desperate action.

The weather is holding so next turn should be just as bloody. 3 US CVs have been spotted covering the PM landing force

Where is the KB? The world wonders....

no worries, most of the guns concentrated on SC's and MSW's. Most of the invasion fleet is still intact.

Crikey ! just did a long read to catch up and this game just got very exciting ! .. very brave move KD but the loss of the DMS's will be a future hassle unfortunately .. shame allies cant convert DD's like the AK's . more APD's and DMS's would be great.

Have fun folks , looks like a humdinger of a battle for PM on the horizon

Confirmed sunk this turn:

11 MSW
9 SC
4 AK
2 AP
BB Maryland (one lucky hit)
148 Allied planes
168 Japanese planes

My strikes were uncoordinated or I would have done much better

The weather is still good so the bloodshed should continue again next turn.
