T, how's goes the case study and finals?

All set for the big six-hour written final tomorrow: books packed, notes sorted and packed... At the moment, I'm "relaxing" with a spot of ironing. Later, it's dinner time and a last run-through of the case study. Then an early night, and a thorough round of arse-kicking tomorrow...

Relaxing ironing>? Do you mean your watching your GF iron for you? *tilts head in uncomprhending expression*

At any rate good luck with it. Is that what you have is one case study? Not that 6 hours wouldn't be enough of an exam.

I iron my own clothes, thank you very much. If I suggested she do it, she'd iron my face.

And no, that's not all, exam-wise. Only the first of four. Next week, I've a four-hour written exam in statistics and an oral test in my other elective course, and the week after that another oral exam.

Oral exams are interesting. I'd have to really think on it, but I don't think I have ever had to sat for an oral exam. I might not do well. I'm a thinker and need time to organize my thoughts I love essay exams. It's why I'm not real big on sales. You sort of have to be Johny on the spot with the right thing to say.

Depending on the subject, I usually do quite well on oral exams. I'm good at talking my way out of stuff...

If nothing else, I can just drown them in spoken spam...

ClamAV Windows

Also, having anti-virus software is not nearly enough security. Your best bet is to get a firewall. I use this one, but there are others out there: Linksys

Also, you need to have a malware remover, like Adware. It is free for personal use.

Or you could simply trash Windows and run Linux instead. That eliminates the need for all except the firewall.

To repeat: if you do not have a separate firewall between your broadband connection and all your home computers, you are a disaster waiting to happen. I promise.

A technique I have used to good success on Oral exams is during my initial presentaion or in-depth answer, make a small mistake in an area you know very well. They are likely to focus in on that area thereby hopefully avoiding weaker subject matter. I was given this advice a long time ago, and have used it a number of times.

Firewall is a good idea. Don't forget though Windows Vista comes out soon. Surely it will be safe.

I'll try to remember that one during my next exam.

Yep - have a couple of firewalls up (hardware based one and a software based one.)

Its shocking how many people don't take security measures, even today. My neighbors have a completely open wireless network, if it wasn't for the fact that I have much better broadband, I could just access the Internet through their network.

Quick pre-commute tithe...

So, maybe, perhaps, hopefully, by next fall I could be a certified history teacher in one of the fine schools of Long Island NY. Yeah, right.....

FWIW, I think it's a good choice.

Not free but McAfee is out there for anti-virus.

I use a firewall, antivirus software, malware programs and an encrypted network. Then when things come up and say let me load this software on your computer, I leave that area immediately.

Don't worry. I'll turn the implant off if he becomes a teacher. That will eliminate most of those voices...

Well, it was 80 degrees this afternoon - and we are supposed to (possibly) get snow tonight ...
