This is great!!! I have been playing H2H CC every week against my nemisis for 6 years now. I am reading here that after COI there will be totally new improved releases? I have fantasized about this for years!
We all have our pet game improvements that we'd love to see, I have a bunch myself. But I'd like to put this out there: A comprehensive, over arching update-able game engine/interface called "The Close Combat System", in which all mods and future gamettes could be plugged into. It would encompass a choice of the battle group style or the points purchase style, with the option of dedicated slots for support teams or armor as in (was it CC2?). Perhaps a blend of CC4 and 5 BG's in which some slots could be swapped out but others not. And of course a built in cofiguration manager for mods and patches. Close Combat is still the King of the 2D RTS's, and nothing in 3D has equalled it yet. Godspeed!

All of these things are on the CC6 Agenda for study...

Just to ensure expectations are not overstated, CoI is not a *totally new* improved release.  You can find various information about what CoI has and hasn't got in the various threads.  However, I can say that it does 'play' differently due to some AI tweaks we have done.  Whether that impresses or not, we shall have to wait and see...

That's fine Beeblbrox, I get that. Regardless, I'm on board. I'm only daydreaming about future new releases is all!
