Without Remorse is the one I wanna see made into a movie.

Sum of all fears was a great book but a blah movie. Too politically correct. Without remorse would be good if they didn't screw with the story line.

Just so long as it's no Willem DeFoe playing Mr. Clark...that was my biggest gripe with Clear and Present Danger.

I liked Willem in Platoon, but he certainly doesn't seem like the John Clark I read about.

Yep - while both the book & movie had a nuclear bomb involved, there wasn't much other similiarity. And the villians changed dramatically - towards political correctness (like you said).

Certainly true, but it's 99% sure Holllwood would screw with the story line. Two of my all-time favorite Sci-Fi books - Starship Troopers and Battlefield Earth had horrible movie adaptations.

I forgot about that one. Great book. I don't think I've eaten crabs since reading it.

Agree on the book. His best IMO. I didn't mind Defoe as Clark. Harrison Ford or Tommy Lee Jones would be better at the role though, at least for me.

I could see Tommy Lee Jones or Mel Gibson...Mel's getting fruity in his old age though.

Who would play young clark though?

I just downloaded the open-source version of the old DOS game Star Control II. My Thread, I spent many a happy night back in the winter of 1994-95 on that game...

Should probably have spent it on other things, but beggars can't be choosers...

Which they would. And Sum of All Fears (the movie) sucked and blew on sooooo many levels...

I like Faber's management style.

It's terribly hard on the carpet though, all those blood stains. Never work in a place with linolium floors or plastic drop clothes, that's my motto.

Edit: make that drop cloths. I'm not sure i want to know what plastic drop clothes are.

*Saturday afternoon at the office tithe. BLECH!

At least I got a hike in this morning.

Now I see that our IT guy got the new software download on the server, but he forgot to change the link on the download page from beta to 1.0.

i saw a documentary on the Fletcher Class DDs on the History Channel, and they went into the Battle Off Samar and the sacrifice the DDs (and DE) made protecting the CVEs.

What surprised me is that after the battle, the USN "High Command" ordered ships in the area not to pick up the survivors as "there might have been subs in the area". Considering they hadn't even thought to put up antisub patrols in the area until after 9:00 a.m. (which was what discovered the IJN TF minutes before they opened fire), i am scratching my head over this one...
