OK after Australian Troops and a few Kiwis under the command of General Lavarack and Blamey restored the honour of the British Empire by recapturing Singapore its time to turn to next steps.

1. I am going to secure a few bases on northern Sumatra mostly because I can and It will give me a little oil to fuel up Singapore industry.

I will also begin a slow conquest of Palemabang as an advanded fuel source it could be usefull and will further secure convoy routes into Malaya.

Minimal forces will be required for this.

2. Northern Borneo will be attacked by US Forces operating out of Malaya I want to keep the bulk of the highly experienced elite Kiwi and Australian troops for the assault on INDIA - not only are they retaking the Ashes <GITS - what were England playing at on the last day - MORONS> they are going to retake India for the honour of the British Empire

So a diverging of the ways US Forces will head SW towards Japan diverting attention from Operatioon Yellow.

My Australian, NZ, British, Dutch forces will get ready for the re conquest of India ---- its time for payback !!!!

I think the re-conquest of India is what is called reverse engineering.
This will be a first in WitP history.
Northern Sumatra and then Andamann Island will be the first steps on the road back. This will be fun to watch!!

Congratulations, but
Andy, don´t overdo, please. If you really want to go after India you should only take Ceylon and the Andamans. This will give you the bases to use your LBA to suppoert you.
PzB will have some divisions in India and there are level 9 forts everywhere for sure.
Please remember India is only the strawman, you want to push right into the heart of the Japanese inner circle of defence.
On the other hand India is a good theater of war because you have all those divisions there and all the LBA you willnot be able to use somewhere else, so go for it, but slowly!
If I were PzB I´d have some real nasty defenses at Bangkog and Saigon.adittionally Rangoon would be a superfortess. All important bases would have a fortlevel of 9 and at least a divisionequivalent (Chinese Army divisions)

Now that you have Singapore and a huge bse with some supplies, you can start using your LBA (and superfots) to reduce everything thin range to dust and then advance your armies out as well. I'd imagine that a sustained air campaign against Borneo, northern Malyia and Palemabang and the Andamann's would keep his attention firmly on the west. Plus you have a while to conquer India, setting up your airforces should not be a problem--I defintely think the minimal stragtegy is the right one for now. Local ground forces and all the air that you can spare! There is nothing like a dozen air attacks a turn to concentrate PzB's attention on malaysia and the vicinity while the hammer waits to fall in the east.

OK Guys relax I am not going to go charging into India half cocked.

My Divisions need rest and supply stockpiled and even the C team amphibs at Malaya need some rest.

I am going to attack India primarily for points remember I need to score a LOT of points just to earn a draw as I fully expect this game to go to 46.

The main strike is OP Plan Yellow and the diversionary plan Black these will be followed for the next 6 weeks - The reinvasion of India is a tertiary operation involving forces that after Yellow lands become somewhat irrelevant anyway as I dont have the shipping to get them back to Centpac anyway.

It is not only so , that you get the points, PzB will loose many of them. The pendula might swing over very swift, if you recapture Java and Sumatra. There are many points to get there for the Japanese player.
How many points did the loose of Singapore cost PzB? Have you checked it?
Has someone calculated how many points the Japanese player gets for holding India, Java, etc.?
You might be much nearer to a draw than you think!

Andy - Have you taken the time to go through most of the bases one by one to see where you can get the biggest bang for the buck (dollar)??  You may need to attack India, but I would look around Java, Sumatra, and othere areas close to Malaya/Borneo to see what bases have the biggest swing in VP.

Not really but I should

Remember I need to get 1.75X to get a DRAW now at end 44 PZB still has more VP's than I do and a lot of them are for Ships and aircraft that I cannot do much about - I am going to attack India becuase by going South to North I

1. Get points for locations.
2. Get to trap a large chunk of the Jap army against the sea and desroy them getting me more points.

But I say again this is a tertiary operation and it only works in conjunction with other operations

Could you please give the points you and PzB have, split up in bases, strategic, planes, ships, etc?

This might help a little to evaluate the "how to do".

Strategic bombing can get you several unanswered thousands of points.

I will look tonight when I do the turn I was out for Beer last night did my turns for games with Pauk Chez and SPrior while drunk but not ga ga and then went ga ga before I could do PZB's turn (Only 8 Pints of Beer I am a shadow of my former self :()

Note to all players NEVER DO TURNS WHILE PISSED - (Read Pauk's AAR to check out why I suspect he is gloating there as we speak !!!)

I would start pushing North from Malaya towards Ragoon. I would focus a little bit on taking bases on the NW corner of Borneo to have bases to base planes to cover resupply convoys going to Singapore. The single base on the island just SE of Singapore would help also. If I was PzB, I would use Java to attack TF's heading up that way. '

Andy, by taking northern Sumatra, you could take a long route through part of the Indian Ocean to get supplies in. But this may work only a few times before PzB figures it out.

Thanks Frank.

I assume I can get 40,000 points for strat bombing.

At present I think PZB has about c 80k points and I have c 70k

Now to 'WIN' I need to get 2:1 in 45 so I need to score an additional 50k worth of points from A2A, Ships and Ground Forces Destruction without taking any losses myself.

This IMO is not possible.

To 'DRAW' I need to get 1.75x by the games end in 46 now to get a 'DRAW' I need to score c 100,000 points in the next 16 months ....... a tall order but those bases in India are worth a LOT of points to Japan and every point I remove there is worth 1.75X to me as it reduces the Japanese point total

Look at places like Columbo and Karachi which are incredibly valuable

Dang! That was a bit of intel I could have used before sending my turn back!!!

I'm going to have to talk to my intel chief about how he missed that piece of information!

Apparently Frank stats got mixed up Matrix are helping us fix it - main point to note is that they offered to tun on PDU and I said no !!!

(Had PZB insisted I would have acceded but he left decisoin in my hands)

With no Hellcats in pool and no trained navy Pilots PDU would have made any of my plans impossibel so I said no - I will be seriously considering whether PDU is a benefit or curse in all my allied games in future - my current view is that alllied to japanese production it is something all allied players should think long and hard about before agreeing to it really is not something that works in the favour of the allies as thre Japanese have far better pool density in key types through control of producution

of course a better solution would be to revise some of the Allied AC production rates to more realistic historical figures!!!!! PLEASE matrix!!

Also, while we are making some minor adjustments, how about making Sydney (or Melbourne, or even Perth) the default arrival base for UK units (air, naval and ground) if India is captured. Surely this is realistic.

Still a great AAR Andy.

Thanks Buzz I felt a little guilty saying no to Matrix's kind offer but on balance I doubt I will play with PDU on in future it just makes the game fantasyland tied to Jap production.

T-4 for Op Plan Yellow to load up - I am just stockpiling a few Hellcats in the pool and trying to knock some sys damage off of my carriers while we wait.

All Superforts are out of Malaya and I will move on Sumatra soon as well as landing forces on North Borneo to distract attention.

The last of the amphibs are en route and I will be ready to load up my forces soon.

Points are going to be the key to avoiding defeat.

OK the plan for India ----

Operation Hangover CURE...

The key is to land somewhere where I can quickly capture a road nexus to exploit including 1 or more bases on which I can base forces including 11th Airborne Div.

In outline the plan is to land on or around Madras with 6 Divisions and lots of Armour in two Corps.

1 Corps will capture Madras while the second exploits towards Hyderabad.

As soon as Madras is captured I will bring in 11th Airborne plus the 503rd Para Regt and perform an Arnheim type mass airborne landing either at Ahmabad or Delhi following it up with my newly designated air mobile 5th NZ Bde with the purpose of cutting the country in two all the while 30 Corps err sorry em 1st Aus Corps  Armour goes up the road to relieve them. If this works PZB will not be able to dig in and fortify at Karachi and Bombay because I will cut his forces in half - accordingly I am startingto move C47 Groups to Northern Australia I want to mass 500+ C47's for the primary lift.

The reconquest of India is on and will begin by February 45 !!!!

I'd be very surprised if all his troops weren't sitting behind level 9 forts throughout India. The trick will probably be to prevent them from consolidating so that you can defeat him piecemeal.
