I don't want snow.  If we get too much and the Governor declares a state of emergency, then I come back to work in my dungeon whether I'm on leave or not.   So far there's none in the forecast, but we all know how accurate weatherman can be.  Also, that storm that's pummeling you guys is headed straight for me.

Yeah, the Govenor activated the Guard for this storm. They were really the only ones well enough equipped to move around in the snow. Emergency Response groups just didn't have enough snow vehicles to handle it all. The Guard spent the night rescuing people stuck in their cars, setting up emergency shelters and transporting supplies.

Denver had over 60 plows on the road last night and couldn't really do more than keep the interstates in the metro area open, along with a few major thoroughfares.

What's hard to believe is that the 2003 storm was worse. We got an additional 10" in about the same amount of time.

Are you guys wimps in Denver. Where I grew up in northern New York, the snow removal crews were equpped to deal with 24 inches of snow. Now schools would close and it would take a day, but they didn't call out the guard for a measley 2 feet of snow.

Now in the winter of 76 the town of Adam's Center in central New York got 66 inches of snow in 48 hours. There was a Marine reserve unit at Fort Drum. Those guys spent 2 weeks doinfg a lot of rescue work.

60 snow plows. You guys are pikers. My home town of 14,000 probably had 5 to 10.

I lost my maintenance guy at work this last week and am trying to find a replacement...

A guy talks to me today and tells me he is interested. I told him to do the online application and I'd give his name to my boss so she could be on the lookout for his app when it came down from corporate.

I ask his name and he said Robby...

I asked for his last name...he says Chennault...

I asked if it was like Clair Chennault...

He said that Clair Chennault was his Grandfather's cousin...

How cool is that?!

It's official.  20.8 inches of snow at the Airport. 7th snowiest since 1946.  I have experienced the #1 in March 2003 (30" plus) and #3 in Xmas Eve 1982(24").

And that's just the version for common soldiers. For officers, it has an additional anti-tank gun and a small AA weapon, plus a corkscrew.

I've heard it's better North of the Humber. We had a 45 minute period yesterday when the fog cleared enough for our jets to land here, then it closed in again worse than before. I'm beginning to think this could be a Communist penguin plot...
