That would be my guess. Either a shotty connection somewhere or water. 2002 is much too new to have wire insulation trouble unless there's a tear somewhere. That can happen in places like the trunk a lot, where you might have had an unsecured wire that you caught when you were shoving something in the trunk and which now gets caught on one of the hinges or something. The tricky thing about that is, if the exposed part of the wire isnt grounding on metal, you wouldnt know the insulation was compromised. But get some water in there or have it shift in such a way that it contacts a metal surface and presto, instant ground. I'm nowhere near a car mechanic, mind you, just some things I've seen from personal experience. A mechanic I know once told me the story that he spent 6 months looking for a power draw on some lady's car and didnt discover where it was until it snowed. On the part of the trunk where the wire was exposed the snow had melted.

Just try to do your best... Has the fog lifted where you are yet? I saw that they were basically firing aircraft into the air by slingshot at Heathrow, trying to clear the backlog...
