Sorry to hear your wife isn't feeling well Robert. Hope she feels better.

Well, that would be good - but she has a hereditary muscle problem, and unfortunately she has a lot of pain if she stands or walks for more than about 1 hour...

Open a bottle of wine tonight (unless she had to take something).

Oh, we might go wild and have a glass or so around midnight (if we are still awake...)

I'm sorry to hear that. Back problems are no fun.

You are right about that... she has been getting some relief from acupuncture lately, so we are hopeful...

Just nice New Year's. My power supply (or whatever it's called in English) to my PC exploded. Had to pull out my old PC and I don't have WitP installed on that old machine. No WitP for me for atleast two days... :(

Well, you could either install it on your old machine, or rip the power supply out of the old machine and put it in your new machine...

Course, if something MADE the power supply go kablooie - you could be out TWO running machines...

Problem is, I bought WitP as a digital download just the other week (when it had a 30% discount) and I didn't take the time to burn it to a CD. So I can't install it on the old machine.

And I tried using the power supply from my old PC, but that didn't work since I need to attach the PCI express cord from my graphics card to the power supply but the power supply of my old PC doesn't have such a cable.

So I'm stuck with my addiction and can't do anything about it. All stores were closed yesterday and are closed today too. With a bit of luck I might have my computer up and running on Wednesday. If I'm lucky...

Apparently you haven't spent much time on helicopters.

Question gentlemen. Now that we have fixed my son's computer, he wants to start WITP He has another 10 days off). Where is a good place to look on the forum to plan a first Japanese turn. I have not done this yet and finding it a little intimidating.

Bruce, the way I did it was to get a sturdy pad and start taking notes. I've got some OOBs for the Japanese at the start of the game on spreadsheets. They're from somewhere around version 1.4-1.5 but they'll be close. Let me know if you'd like them.

Hi-This is for Bruce Powers, re his sons' game & Japanese first moves.

There is a "WITP Unofficial Strategy Guide" by a number of people such as Mr.Frag, Joel Billings, Luskan, etc. My copy has the remark, "Updated 07/22/04".

I downloaded this from the WITP forum , but cannot remember where the link is.

It includes such topics as "Jap turn 1 checklist", etc.

Perhaps others can help on the link.

Good playing!! Hugh Browne

Best piece of general advice i can give is: "The less you do on turn 1.....the more you'll have to do on the following turns."

What that means is, while Turn 1 Japan is arguably the biggest pain in the a$$ turn to do in all of WitP, you have to bite the bullet and put in the time to do it decently otherwise your going to be scrambling and working harder on the following turns. (I should know....i once did a Japan turn 1 in under 30minutes.....felt good, till the following turns when the string of "DOH's!!!!!" started happening......

forgot to include a base force with that invasion....planes grounded... DOH!

Certain units/bases low on supply during crucial period....DOH!

DD's needed, nearest available unit in Northern Japan watching the Russians....DOH!

Forward base secured.......no fuel for warships....must wait a week for emergency TK replenishment from Japan....DOH!

Moral of story. Take your time....do it right....you don't have to go "Mogami" on it, but it still pays to be slow and thorough.

I agree with Nik here. I usually spend some 80-100 hours preparing turn 1, but I'm more the Mogami type.

Did I just say that??!!

Glory to the Thread.........Bruce....the trick with turn one for the Japs is to enjoy it.........take as long as you need......if I start a new turn one....it will take me about 12 hours to do........but I have now done a fair few turn ones.....and always remember.....turn one is phase one......start planning phase 2-3 while doing your turn one........you need supply/fuel/troops and support all alloted to future ops......just not turn one goals........I LOVE JAP TURN ONE........it's turn 2-1,400 that scare me.......

Boy ain't that the truth.

My plan is to run!!!

He should not have hit Bulla.

Now I have the time to RUN

Don't forget to scream like a girl while you run. It helps.

Edit: Oh yeah, flailing your arms while you're running and screaming like a girl adds to the ambiance.
