Yes, there will be a "final-final" version of the Enhanced Mod - DV, for 'Definitive Version'. It combines both the FV.1 and FV HTH Enhanced Mods into one 'master Mod'. This is the final version, we promise!!!!
we couldnt let the errors that got thru in FV to remain unfixed..

CHANGES FOR SPWAW ENHANCED-DV

(sources used for some corrections/additions are varied and widespread; requests for these may be honored at the discretion of the team)

GENERAL CHANGES

1. The "Willy Meter" (*) has been removed.
2. Removed most "national designators" from all OOBs.(like "GE" "SO" "UK" etc..etc...In some cases, these were left to distinguish between different factions or to identify specific groups within some nations; e.g. VF and FF for Vichy France and Free France units.
3. Gave many units actual names (or close as we could come) where possible and appropriate. Some names remain in English because local language equivalents are too cumbersome, do not fit the 15-character limit, or use an alphabet that is not English-type. Others remain that of the unit's original nation, where units are shared. we actually created 2 Mods this time one uses the more "standard" names evryone is used to, the other uses the actual names wher possible.
4. Changed a few rarity codes so some of the perhaps, more rare units, are not so readily available.
5. Fixed some ROF errors in various OOBs that crept into the FV Mod.
6. Corrected grenade error in many MMG and HMG units. All of these should now have grenades.
7. Platoon Leader/HQ units all given the short-range versions of their rifles, carbines or SMGs.
8. Ammo Crates/Boxes are now cheaper than Ammo trucks.
9. Removed AP ammo from all remaining MG and 20mm units. AP ammo is not needed for these weapons to work, and this also increases the price unnecessarily.
10. The 2in mortars had inconsistent unit data. All regular 2in mortars should have a range of 500 meters, or 10 hexes (Range Value in the OOB of 40). The weapon values for the India OOB were the only correct ones. The 2" AB version should have a range of 400 meters, or 8 hexes (Range Value in the OOB of 32). All values have been corrected across the OOBs.
11. Molotovs HE Kill factor reduced 1 point and HE Pen value reduced to match HEAT Pen. Also, Molotov HE ammo reduced as a compromise for players who didn't want any HE at all.
12. Some formations that had units in them with 0 for strength corrected to x1.
13. Some PIAT units had different rates of fire in different nations...corrected this.
14. DD Tanks water speed was too slow. This has been increased to 6.
15. Rearranged firing order for Infantry units without special AT-capable weapons; grenades were moved to Slot #2, with LMG/SMG weapon moving to Slot #3.
16. Revised many ammo loads for numerous units in OOBs; units sometimes had wrong ammo types, or too many rounds. This also includes most fortifications.
17. FO units prices were reduced somehow in some OOBs in Enhanced FV; corrected this.
18. Some Formations classed as 'Platoons' had Platoons in them; these are now classed as Companies.
19. Added more Infantry-type units to some OOBs to give more variety. Added various different type weapons to these new units.
20. Some 'AI' Formations have been given "elite" status, especially "assault"-type formations, throughout the OOBs to hopefully help the AI during Long Campaigns, and make for better battles. Also corrected many AI formations that seem to be missing their "special flags".
21. All Hand Grenades and Rifle Grenades (not ATRGs) have had slight increase in HE Kill factor.
22. German 7.92mm MGx2 had different stats in different nations...corrected so they all have same stats.
23. Re-did some Hungary icons, gave Panzer IV F2 and the Panzer IV CS tanks better-looking camo icons, instead of standard blue ones. Hungarian 'Tigris' is now tan icon to better match other Hungarian units.
24. Most Fwd Observer units renamed to FO Team, using local language if appropriate.
25. Removed AP ammo from 20mm/25mm weapons that are Autocannon-type; code uses HE ammo as both HE and AP against targets.
26. Fixed Accuracy rating for .50cal M2-HB weapon in the "Team" and "AA" models, as accuracy was far lower than typical for this MG. One result of the lower accuracy was a reduced "AA effectveness".
27. Changed the AEC Matador unit in various OOBs to a Heavy Truck instead of Prime Mover. Unit was being used in Lorried Infantry formations, and the Prime Mover class uses "Track" movement rates, not "Wheel" rates.
28. Changed Weights of the Mule Team, Gun Team, Wagon and Horse units to allow them to be loaded into Barges and other Landing Craft. Gun Teams and Wagons will have weights of 240, while Mule and Horse units will weigh 124. These weights allow loading into large units such as the landing craft, but not into most trucks. Up to 2 Mule/Horse units will be able to load into the majority of the landing barges, along with additional foot units. Also applies to Pack Animal Ammo Carriers of various names, all of which have weights of 255 now. These have been changed to 240 as well.
29. Changed Weights of Motorcycle Units to 233 to allow them to load into Landing Barges.
30. Adjusted Carrying Capacity of Bren Carriers to allow for more traditional usage as an infantry transport. Changed the name back to Bren Carrier.
31. Changed the weapon sound for the Schwarzlose MGs in all OOBs.
32. Due to the known "desert icon" flaw, certain special units in the game (Ammo Crates, Shelter Bunkers) were not displaying an Icon if used on a Desert Map. The reason is, the game code looks for the icons in the alternate set of SHP files (the 100 and 300 series) for use on Desert Maps, and doesn't find them for these units. This is because they are classed as Vehicles, but use icons from sets that are intended for "special" classes, such as Ammo Dumps and Forts. And these sets are not expected to be in "desert camo", so only one file has been necessary. Corrected this by making copies of the two files and renaming them to the 100-series.
33. After long discussions, it was determined that the "70" Troop Experience Rating was a major "price break" point; a unit at 69 would cost 75% of its OOB Cost when purchased, while a unit at 70 would cost 100% of its OOB Cost. Because the ratings in Enhanced for Troop Experience do not start any higher than 70, the net result was that some nations were getting a "bargain" on their purchases; their units would perform comparable to the ones beginning with a 70 EXP, but cost a lot less. So we have adjusted the Troop Experience Ratings down by 1 Point at each of the "price break" levels: 70, 60, 50, 40, and 30. The end result will be a better balance of force compositions when playing generated battles, either in the Long Campaign or in PBEM/Online play. Included here is a list of the new Troop Experience ratings:

Also, kept the weapon in air-carried units, even though they can also strike land targets. Reason: air units harder to edit, and are less likely to be used in PBEM games, which can be handled between the two players.
12. Changed the PT Boat Unit Class to Landing Barge, to allow unit to load/unload from beach hexes, as was done historically.

Alby, considering the discussion re arty ranges with some Japanese guns, was this considered in the OOB adjustments?

Flash posted them here from a book or manual.
I started to use his values in my new Tactics scenario but it got too messy with OOB changes for people. But his values made for an interesting arrangement with arty.
So I just wondered if Flash and you had put them in this last-last version, or will it be in the last-last-last version??

Can not post them. I am on a temp PC and this has FSA on it. The one with all the values went for a bit of a swim in the flood we have just had. So the values are a bit wet. I can not get much of it till it dries out.

Flash I used you values and it changes a few things but makes for a more interesting scenario. It was your values I was asking if they had been put in or not.
Either way with last version in, I am going to have to change the whole scenario anyway.

Well, those figures I just did; should we use my source figures, and calculate again, or stick with these "median" range values?

Kevin, all I did as use your yards values (Range from my source) column and converted to meters then to game values rounded so it was divisable by 4.

Umm....there's a problem there, then. Once you reach a range of 50 hexes, the "divide by 4" stops. That's a range of 200...the next range step is 56 hexes, and is calculated by taking 8 x the 2-digit end of the 3-digit 200+ value. EX: 207 is not 51.75 hexes, it's 8x07, or 56 hexes. A 213 range is 8x13, or 104 hexes. The "2" indicates to the game to use this new formula for weapon ranges beyond 50 hexes.

And there is never a 201 to 206 value; these ranges would be set using the /4 formula instead.

Suggestions:

1. In Finnish OOB, there is an Ammo Section (2 ammo carriers), but no formation for a single ammo truck.

2. Since you're removing national designations (in many cases), how about my earlier idea of adding the availability year for certain units (e.g., '42 Rifle Squad, '43 Rifle Squad etc)?

This has helped me when selecting units for between-battle upgrades in campaigns.

Do you want a separate thread for suggested changes/additions?

No problem on adding a single ammo carrier in Finland..
not sure what you mean about the Infantry?
are you saying Name them 42, 43, etc etc...and just in the USMC?
The term "Rifle Squad" is no longer in use in USMC oob
Its now Marine Squad, I suppose it could be Marine Squad 42, or whatever....that barely fits the character limit.
I will look it over

Maybe not so much the Marine squads as the engineers, light mortars and MGs. The sea-change was in the replacement of the Springfields with the Garands. That's why I differentiate between the .30 cal MMG and the 43 .30 cal MMG -- it's the secondary arms.

As for the Marine squads, the important thing is to keep in mind the differences between the D, E and F-series units, which roughly correspond to the years 1942-1944.

OK, so I'm pedantic about this (sorry), but they were called Rifle Squads -- technically speaking, there's no such thing as a Marine Squad. I'll just change 'em back for my personal OOB.

I made them "Marine" squads so that when they fight alongside the US Army units, they "stand out"....otherwise you'll have Rifle Squad and Rifle Squad, so which is which?

Don't you want your Gyrenes to be easily recognized amongst all those dogfaces?
