I've not heard about this. If I may ask, what makes you think that such a game is even considered? ------------------ An old soldier but not yet a faded one. OK, maybe just a bit faded.

Its mentioned in articles on cdmag.com. You can actually preorder it from them. By SSI and Gary Grigsby. Although if it really is 3D and real-time, then I'm not interested anyway.

Supposedly it's based on a new engine. Also, it will have non-hex based movement. It is going to update SP1/2 to SP3 standards for OS, interface, audio and video. Pretty much what the Matrix Bro's have already done. The plan WAS to make it simultaneous move/fire intstead of IGYG-maybe that's where the "realtime" question comes from?

I would not count on it becoming a reality at this point....Wild Bill ------------------ In Arduis Fidelis Wild Bill Wilder Coordinator, Scenario Design Matrix Games

I read something about SP4 not long after SP3 came out. Actually when I first found SPWAW I thought that this was SP4. I wouldn't hold my breath on it if I were you. ------------------ McGib Ready Aye Ready

As far as I'm concerned, SPWAR IS SP4. The only thing I think should be done is to enhance the graphics and audio. But not at the expense of the current gameplay and interface. Let's face it, the graphics are soooo 1998.

Don't hold me to this but I seem to remember reading some where that SP4 had been permanently dropped. As I haven't heard anything about it in a while I think that may be the case. But after all with SPWaW and Matrix Games who cares if it does come out? ;-) ------------------ Cavalry Trooper (8th US) and Grandson of a Leibstandarte Tanker.

I was part of a beta team formed in early 1999 to discuss the possibilities of SP4 and what it should include. It has come and gone and to my knowledge, it has not met in the last 8 months. I personally don't see ANYTHING concrete for SP4 in the near future. Of course, I could be outside the loop without knowing it. I've been in on the beta testing of all versions of SP up till now, but it could happen....WB ------------------ In Arduis Fidelis Wild Bill Wilder Coordinator, Scenario Design Matrix Games

Just my two-cents worth. I find it extremely unlikely that SSI would bother to invest in an SP-IV, given the efforts not only by Matrix with SP:WAW, (not to mention the upcoming update on SP:II!!!) but also with Cameo's SP:WWII, both of which can be considered "SP-IV" in any real sense of the term given all of the collective improvements to the engine and graphics. After all, with the exception of maybe reformatting the 'view'/graphics more along the lines of Talonsoft's East/West Front series (or the Panzer General series) what else could they do to improve the game that Matrix has'nt already done/considered given all the player imput? Only thing that comes to mind is 'real time' and I'm personally of the same opinion as has been addressed in this thread regarding it......."yuk". Real time, though great for Fog-of-War, would only cause us to miss out on alot of the action of which SP is so richly filled with.
