In the real life Wake Island scenario the Saratoga was to deliver 18 "Buffaloes" (VMF-221) to Wake I. In the editor it appears that Sara is carrying VMF 221. Nice touch, but I've been unable to access the Buffaloes in game. They don't show up, so I can't select them. I tried flying off the normal complement but they didn't show up then either.

I think the usual procedure was to fly the planes off once the land base is within range. Anybody know how to do this?

The Buffaloes are not set-up for carrier operations (in the scenario) so they wont take off from the Saratoga. However (and since you've already been in the editor) if you access the 'Edit Squadrons' tab and highlight VMF-221 there is a check box on the right hand side of the screen for 'Carrier Ops:' click that so it shows a green checkmark - again I'd save the scenario under a different name so it doesn't screw up the original. I think that VMF-221 should be ready to fly then.

Carrier capable in real life, at least for single seat, single engine aircraft, meant able to land on a carrier (arresting gear, approach speed, beefed up landing gear, etc.), but a lot of small planes were able to take off from carriers.  The usual procedure was to hoist them onto the carrier at a port, sail to within transfer range, and fly the planes off to the land base.  IIRC, VMF-221's Buffalo's ended up at Midway where they were hard hit trying to fend off the Kido Butai airstrikes on the base.

I get the feeling that the game doesn't make the distinction, so you either have a VMF-221 that can't take off or one that can conduct full carrier ops.  Neither is a perfect solution, but as long as the US player agrees to only transfer VMF-221 to Wake, it would probably work.

To do this, we need to implement the Strike/Transfer option, which amongst other things will allow non carrier aircraft to make a one-time launch from a carrier and proceed to a landbase. This will defintely be done, just not sure when at the moment.
